I am thrilled for the most part with all of these figures. Some minor issues, as others have pointed out, but overall I'm still onboard to buy them. Now I just have to keep myself occupied until they come out.

Sad to admit, but I had to take an inventory of my 'mates before I could answer this one. Thus far, here goes: Variants: Series Three Cyclops w/o Visor Series Four Unmasked Daredevil Series Five Unmaksed Doom Series Ten Spider Woman 2 Series Eleven Frosted Ice Man Exclusives: Gaijin Wolv. and Mariko Powerman and Iron Fist Thanos and Silver Surfer Fantastic Four Boxed Set Customs: None as of yet, but that may soon change.

A similar scale BAF was done with the second series of the Buffy Palz, allowing fans to create "The Judge" figure. Truthfully I would have bought all the Palz anyway, but it was a nice bonus. I think a same scale build a figure could be cool, especially if the figure was something unusual and fan endorsed. Maybe they could have a fan pick build a figure poll. Offer five choices and let fans vote for the BAF for the upcoming waves.

For me it started because of the clearances. My local Target had the Ultimate Cyclops/Wolverine pack for something like a $1.24 and I thought, why not? Oh the naive nature I displayed that day. I swear these retailers are no better than crack dealers offering a "free" first time . I went back the next day and bought up all the clearance they had left. Then I went online and found some clearance LOTR in Amazon, found some decently priced C3 on Ebay, as well as much more in the way of Marvel. I recently found lots of additional clearance on Amazon, such as the Street Fighter figures (which by the way I didn't even realized existed prior to that moment) and the C3 Batcave, which was thankfully only $10. Now I'm on a quest to round out my collection, however thus far I haven't crossed over into the 3" scale with the exception of the Dark Angel figure which I purchased without realizing its scale.

I know this has been explored at length already, but I wanted to put forth my two cents since this was an interesting situation. I myself am undecided. I truthfully read the article and found it to be funny as I believe it was intended. However I also know that where ever you go and whatever you do, there will always be people who are critical of it. That's not always a bad thing, since everyone seems to realize that criticism, when constructive, can lead to new and better innovations and possibilities. That being said, I must also say that since 'mates are officially considered a "toy" and therefore theoretically for children, something like the article in question may be viewed by a less matured and sensible audience. So perhaps not so much a humor tag, but maybe an article rating in case there is some humor or commentary which may be seen as offensive to younger viewers? Like I said, this has been explored at length and probably will continue on after this point, but I would like to say that I found the article funny and will continue to visit MMHQ for some time to come.

It would be interesting to get an unofficial count of how many they sold at that price (.01 cent) to members of this board alone. I myself purchased 10. Anyone else?

I have to say that from what I've seen these figures are either nonexistent (like to Speed Racer packs and 4-packs at my closest TRU - a 2 hour drive) or so outdated (like the continual restocking of the Fantastic Four 2 packs at my local Target) that at least locally these 'mates just don't have much of a customer base. Such a shame since they are just so cool. I've only been officially collecting a few weeks and already I've acquired dozens and dozens. But without some sort of media exposure, the average person isn't likely to stumble across these when they're "hidden" in the aisles.

I haven't been around long enough to see the full cannon of your work, but what I have seen is nothing short of amazing. Truly fantastic work; what all minimates should be like. I especially love Darkhawk. Keep up the good work.

Well as of this morning they're back to their usual sale price of $4.99 per two pack. It was nice while it lasted.

Everything looks great, but I absolutely love the Firefly mates. I would buy those in an instant. Those must be made now. Right now. I mean this instant. Great job on the designs.

Wasn't really sure where to post this, but in case anyone is looking for the Elven Warrior Two Pack, Action Figure Express has them on sale for $0.01 each. I bought ten of them even though I already had two sets to begin with. I just couldn't say no to 10 packs for 10 cents. Even with shipping they came out to be around $2.00 per two pack.

Do I play with them? Yes, unless of course my wife is asking, in which case I "admire" them. Which then leads to the next question, "Why do you need to make sound effects if you're only admiring them?"

Welcome to the insanity. Haven't been official here myself for very long, but everyone has made me feel very welcome and I'm sure you'll feel the same way.

How do I collect? I'm not sure collect is the appropriate word -- maybe compulsively purchase would be better. My collection started of with a few clearance pieces here and there, mostly at Target. They were interesting, but since no one else around here (Twin Falls, Idaho) carries them, I ended up on the Internet to expand my collection. Because of Ebay and online stores I managed to pick up dozens more that either were really important to me, or just too cheap to pass up. To date I have 'mates from Marvel, C3, LOTR, Street Fighter, Indimates, Dark Angel, etc. The only ones I haven't really gone after are the Star Trek ones and the Rock characters.

Yet another reason that Minimates are more addictive than crack. The potential of these I think is two-fold: one as the only real merchandise to an incredibly funny film and two as potential civilians for Super Hero dominated world of Marvel and DC. Either way I'd buy them. Oh yeah, and I'm definetly ready for Firefly Minimates.

I know I'm new here, and as such my opinion probably doesn't yet count as highly as some of the more senior members, but I just had to tell you how much I've enjoyed your "Adventures" thus far. I discovered your site via this one, and really enjoyed what I've seen thus far. I reminds me a lot of what Toyfare did with Twisted Mego Theater. It is both manic and yet very cerebral comedy and I anxiously await more material of any kind. Keep up the good work and thanks for the entertainment. Oh and thanks for the great Avatar selection.

Thanks to everyone for the warm welcome. I guess "misery" really does love comapny. This addiction is only my most recent in a long line of others, yet it is already proving to be just as compulsive a high as any other. Right up there with my compulsive Xevoz collection. And yes it does start with just one here or there and already I find myself frequenting the Internet looking for my next fix.

I personally can attest to how nonexistent these figures were at retail. I didn't even know about these being released until I started looking around on the Internet, trying to research minimates in general. They looked interesting, but I held off on purchasing them for two reasons: 1) I didn't have a clue as to who the "Darkstalkers" were and thus they were less desirable and 2) I could only purchase these by online means which causes the whole "shipping and handling" aspect to come into play. Luckily I stumbled across these two packs on Amazon a few weeks ago when they had them on dramatic clearance for $1.80 a two pack and I picked up all the basic series one plus the previews exclusive Darkstalker set. They are better than I had expected and I would definitely purchase more if they came available. Sadly it doesn't sound like these mates are long for this earth.

This is one of the few sets that I have yet to track down for my collection. Guess that' the price to pay for starting this addiction after the series was over and done. I think a lot of people are just like me, looking at these sets with renewed interest due to the upcoming DC minimates. I personally am more interested in the minimates that the mini javelin, but the mates by themselves go for nearly as much on ebay these days.

Like many of the newer folks around here, I've been lurking off to the side for a couple of months, reading about (and researching) my latest addiction. I had purchased a few minimates here and there in the past, mostly on sale. And while I liked those that I found, I wasn't really ever very excited about the idea of collecting them all. I was most drawn to the C3 DC characters, but was a little put off at the lack of characters offered at the time. Then, I found out about the new DC minimates and found my interest renewed. I started searching the Internet for fan sites and forums with up to date info, and was pleasantly surprised when I stumbled in here for the first time. So, I figured I might as well take the plunge and join the rest of you. Anyway, glad to be aboard. James
