  1. Geez... My free time gets restricted for a few days, and now the sky is apparently falling?!?
  2. Gee, @DSTZach, why would you want to get rid of my most profound thought to date...
  3. Not funny. Not even a little bit.
  4. Mimic has those weird not-Cyclops-visor goggles. And then there's some question whether you could do his classic look correctly without both the wings and a chest piece. That combo hasn't been scene since Hawkman I don't think. Of course he recently went with this look... Which more "Angel with accessories" and could be done with existing parts.
  5. @DSTZach- I will happily take either. It's Rick Jones. Pair him with a Hulk and you're good. (but I like the look you described and the Nega-Bands are a must accessory) Rick's also IMO a good choice for a BAF.
  6. @Heinous, he used to. @NerdyTrev- While all of your list overlaps mine, I'm not show all of them fit the premise. Trapster and Psycho-Man would likely need new parts, unless Darkseid's helmet is available for Psycho-Man. And most of Trapster's suits have that big backpack tank with hoses leading to his guns. (Although Pyro's flamethrower pack could do) Constrictor is mostly easy enough, but his coils are mounted on the back of his hand, the tentacle gauntlets that exist now mount the tentacles under the wrist. So either they re-use old part and make them "wrong" or make a new part, which is what we're shooting not to have. She-Thing kinda needs a new chest piece that lets her look a little more female.. But Mad Thinker, Rick Jones, and Sharon's Ms. Marvel (in either red/blue or purple/teal) would work.
  7. Speedball. Only non-standard part is the recent Pyro mask/goggle/hair combo.
  8. I'll bite... The infamous Eel... all standard parts. Hella complicated paint aps. Cyclone. Paint, long hair.
  9. I gotta question... Can we get more control art, please sir? For current waves... upcoming waves... relatively recent waves... used to love to see that.
  10. Everett K. Ross is the character Martin Freeman played in Civil War, the government guy. When first introduced in Christopher Priest's era of the Black Panther, Ross seemed to be loosly based on Micheal J Fox's character in "Spin City", but assigned by the state department to keep T'Challa "in line" and not cause any "international incidents" during one of the king's visits to the US. Thus Ross got dragged along on a series of adventures, including a confrontation with Mephisto, and T'Challa took a liking to him. So pretty much throughout Priest's run, and a little after, Ross was around in some capacity. Erik Killmonger is the child of Wakandans exiled for aiding Klaw in the villain's scheme that resulted in T'Chaka's death. That fact that they were unwillingly pressed into Klaw's service escaped the grief stricken T'Challa, and Erik's father died in exile. Filled with hate, Killmonger dedicated his life to toppling T'Challa's reign. And he's temporarily succeeded in taking the thrown from him a few times, as Killmonger likes to brag, he is the only man to beat T'Challa in a fair, one-on-one fight, repeatedly at that. Aside from Klaw, Killmonger is probably the closest thing the Black Panther has to a competent arch-enemy. Another Priest creation, Nakia is much less known of the Black Panther's rogues gallery. Priest introduced the idea that each major tribe sends a girl to the palace to serve as one of the king's honorary ceremonial wives of the king, they are in fact his highly trained and deadly personal guard. Nakia was one of the first introduced, but she proved mentally unstable, and became obsessed with T'Challa, convinced she was far more than his ceremonial companion. When, T'Challa set her straight she took it... poorly. Hooked up with Killmonger, and proceeded to cause trouble.
  11. So... in a nutshell... the guy in the video doesn't really understand the situation, wants to come off as being fan friendly, and intentionally or not through DST under the bus rather than say "I have no idea". I'm sure there's more nuance and doubt benefit that can be thrown around, but that's kind of the gist right? Chuck said it aint happening, and it's Chuck's job to know. Anything else is bull chips.
  12. PM me any of your wants... let me see if I have anything I can trade you.
  13. So glad I missed this. And a good reminder why I don't participate in kickstarters
  14. X-Men- Apocalypse did not get a wave. Considering that's also about the time things got truly spiteful between Fox and Disney, X-Fans should be thankful there's been ANY new X-Mates during this cold war. Hate to say it, but I'm losing track of who's where in the X-verse. Is there a current all new all different Marvel Now X-Force lineup? I mean since Cable's last one fizzled out?
  15. You might get some kind of X-Force related wave, but I'd be shocked if there was an actual Deadpool 2 movie wave.
  16. Among the unused designs for Thor was a Loki showing his Frost Giant heritage like the scene from the movie. Unlike Thor, Fandral and Hogun, I have not seen control art for it, and it may be simply a long ago forum legend. But it would have been cool looking I'm sure. As to Khaki Banner... If you'll recall for Iron Man 2, Captain America: the First Avenger and Thor DST did army builder cases, each case came with at least one chase figure, like Justin Hammer, that was one packed one per case. They did one full of Ultrons for Avengers 2. They had planned one for the first Avengers movie full of different generic SHIELD agent, and one Bruce Banner sporting his movie look chase figure. Sales for weren't quite what they wanted to see, so the Avengers case was scrapped. I don't know if control art exists for these either. Speaking of which... did you guys stop asking for control art while I was away? Haven't scene any since I got back
  17. Netflix knew this was coming... why do you think they've been on such a new materials/series tare? They made too much money and made it look too easy to everyone else. Much like the direct to DVD/video market that preceded it, the streaming bubble is about to burst. I suspect the next model will be some kind of cable/streaming hybrid, not too different from Sling's pick your package kind of deal. Or someone will offer to bundle a bunch of different baby-flix services together for a reduced rate. Problem for the consumer is it's going to be even harder to watch all your programing without paying through the nose until the market sorts itself.
  18. Not arguing with you @Gillbob316, but there is a factor here that does not apply as cleanly to MCU stuff as it does to the MU. Zach will no doubt correct me if I'm wrong because my information is certainly from waaaaay back when we were trying to figure out why the couldn't just slip the blue Loki, Fandral and Hogun into another regular MU wave. We were told then that each movie is considered it's own license entity, with it's own limited number of slots and time frame to get the product to the shelves. And as a by product, no real second bite at the apple if it didn't come together. Hence, MCU SHIELD Agents, Lightinged up Thor and Khaki suit Banner remain unreleased as well. I do not know if the Netflix shows are treated any different from the regular Marvel movie stuff, say if it's one master license covering the whole of it all for whoever long it runs. I suspect each show getting a separate boxed set per season is our answer. So the argument then becomes, if space is limited who gets the space? Sometimes that's easier to see, sometimes it's messy and you make your best guess. And sometimes we disagree with those choices. (Davros over 2nd Danny would have been my call. But then I'm never invited to those meetings.) And I think that's were some of the disagreement lies on this issue. although I would happily attend any of those meetings you'd care to include me in. "Consulting Comics Geek"... not quite the same ring as "Consulting Detective" but that one's taken.
  19. Rick Jones was bonded to the "original" Kree Captain Mar-Vell, which BHM correctly ID'd as some we do indeed have a minimate of, and was almost right up to the Captain's untimely death. Marvel (the company not the character) was determined to keep Mar-Vell's book alive long enough to fully secure the rights to the name Captain Marvel, and thought bonding the alien to their most popular sidekick would help. So Rick became Mar-Vell's alter-ego, with them trading places by banging the Nega-Bands they wore on their wrists together, only one of them could be on Earth, the other banished to the far end of the Negative Zone communicating with each other over a telepathic link. The teenager who transforms into an adult hero... sounds familiar... It was also that connection to Rick that brought Mar-Vell into contact with the Avengers in the first place. Years later, after Mar-Vell's death from cancer, Rick would find himself bonded to Mar-Vell's son Genis-Vell at the end of the miniseries Avengers Forever. Pretty much the same deal as before, psychic link, only one could be in Earth's dimension at any one time, but they swapped the Negative Zone for the Microverse that time around. The series was at times wonderfully creative, probably the best modernization of a spell needing the blood of 100 virgins I've ever read, but it was a lot of PAD indulging himself, and got downright weird at times. And then, as PAD tells it, editorial wanted him to take a more serious tone, things got way dark, unfun, and ultimately it rendered the character of Genis-Vell unusable. Genis does still have a living sibling in his younger sister Phyla-Vell. Phyla has called herself Captain Marvel, and Quasar before settling on Martyr. There's also a "older" half brother, Teddy Altman / Dorrek VIII, better known as Hulkling. (talk about someone desperately in need of a better codename) Of the three children, only Teddy was conceived, born, and raise the "old fashion way" from a love affair Mar-Vell had with Skrull princess Anelle after they helped Rick Jones and the Avengers stop one of the latest flair-ups of the Kree-Skrull war. Genis and Phyla were born on Titan and artificially aged into adulthood, they were created using genetic material from Mar-Vell and his lover at the time of his death, the Eternal Elysius. They were both conceived after Mar-Vell's death (ew). So physically older than Teddy, but actually younger. Of course the actual original Captain Marvel was published by Fawcett comics in 1939, and at the height of his popularity the big red cheese outsold Superman. By hook and by crook, DC put Fawcett out of business, bought the entire Marvel family, and hoped to put them out to pasture. But Billy and company just proved too popular to let disappear... unfortunately DC let the rights to the name slip, and Marvel pounced on it. Which is why at this point DC has given up even calling their Captain Marvel anything but his famous magic word, SHAZAM! (Yes, I know, most of everyone here already knew that story, but for the handful of lurkers who might not have, there you go.) Mirymate acknowledges he's easily baited, but when you know you're being baited, is it still a trap?
  20. There were several characters in the DLC "Ultimate" version I wished had been made. Nova, Dr. Strange, Ghost Rider, Hawkeye, those would have been cool to get. I also wish A few more... okay at least one more variant set had bet done with Red Guardian Cap. That would have rocked. And as long as Fox refuses to play ball on the movie licenses, (and by play ball, we mean do whatever the Mouse has ordered them to do) Disney's silent petty video/merch ban will continue to be in place.
  21. Very little of that whole series made a strong impression on me. Poor writing... or at least poor plotting.
  22. No matter what else... a Rick Jones BAF needs to happen. Ya here me, @DSTZach and @DSTchuck? Needs to happen!!!! (And then an Edwin Jarvis)
  23. Ya know, @funkguerilla, #374 is the issue Logan wounded Ben... and then got his butt handed him by Mr. Grimm for the second time. (first time was FF vs X-Men, Thing took him out with one punch. One Punch) Personally, I'd rather the modified standard FF costumes from the end of What If just for something different. A new Prof. Hulk would be nice... with the sleeves and bare feet... with an option for bunny slippers, and a giant "Choom!" gun. But that's a lot for a look the character hasn't sported regularly for nearly 25 years. I'm up to my ears in standard issue Spidey's. And I know I'll be buried deeper before all is said and done. So interesting variations hold greater interest for me. FF uniform Spidey with Bag Man options... that holds my interest.
  24. Better visual, @The Scarlet Spider, Goa is sort of an in-action figure. One thing that I don't like is Defenders looks to be Iron Fist 1.5 complete with a lots and lots of not ninja hand. How do you make a series about one of Marvel's premier martial artist and have him fight mostly guys in suits with guns calling themselves "the Hand"? The one series where fighting ninjas would be appropriate... and you whiffle ball it? Ninjas... with swords and bows and stuff, and hoods and such... or stop calling yourself the Hand. You wanna be white guys with black business suits, sunglasses and guns? Call yourself the Maggia. You wanna be the Hand? NINJAS!!!!!
