Hawkeye's Junk
So, I haven't done a custom in probably 7 years. This one has been in my head for about as long as that. Minimate parts have finally caught up with my vision. So here is my first shot at starting to do customs again. I did black wash all over his chest strap and boots to make it look rugged/dirty.Age of Apocalypse ColossusUploaded with ImageShack.usI'm not happy with his bandanna. The paint seem to glob too much on it. It's weird because the bandanna looks porous. Prior to painting it it looked smooth. I tried doing a wash on it to dull it out or mask it but it didnt work. I like the rest of the figure. Colossus is a little taller than a regular minimate. His paint isn't as glossy as the flash shows it. You can see it better in the natural light picture. Hope you enjoy and critiques are welcome.side viewclose upUploaded with ImageShack.us/7815/closeup1qc.jpg[/img]Uploaded with ImageShack.usCrossing the Barrens on the hunt for Holocaust!Uploaded with ImageShack.usNow onto the Sugarman's mineUploaded with ImageShack.usUploaded with ImageShack.usUploaded with ImageShack.us Edited April 18, 2016 by Hawkeye's Junk
BannersID
He looks pretty good. My 2 cents on the paint. i learned the hard way enamel paints don't do very well on minimate parts, always use acrylics and you will get much better results. also a finish clear coat works wonders for hiding brush texture

I used a Tamiya Flat Clear spray, and Mr. Color acrylics. I had issues with it drying to fast. I think i need to cut the paints more or go to a different brand. Maybe i will do citadel next. Webhead
Love the action shots. Really like the boots and the yellow straps. What did you use?
hellpop
I'm anti-AoA as a general rule, but a nice custom is a nice custom, and that's a nice custom. I'd second the recommendation to use acrylics; I personally have been very happy with Citadel paints, and recommend their starter set. Nessex
Wow - very VERY nice! AoA Colossus is one character that i'm VERY sorry we're not seeing get an official release. Yours looks fantastic HJ! Thanks for sharing him with us.
Hawkeye's Junk
Love the action shots. Really like the boots and the yellow straps. What did you use? Thanks, I used snap buttons that go on most western shirts. I smashed it with a hammer and painted and glued to Apocalypse's boots. I thought about sculpting the discs but came up with the button idea instead. I also used smashed scrapbook buttons on his gauntlets. The straps are orange/yellow ribbon that i found at a craft store. I liked it cause it was actually stitched on both sides. I did a black paint wash to dull the color down. Wow - very VERY nice! AoA Colossus is one character that i'm VERY sorry we're not seeing get an official release. Yours looks fantastic HJ! Thanks for sharing him with us. Thanks Nessex! It was fun to do. Hawkeye's Junk
I'm sure someone may have done this but I'm too lazy to search. I was taking pics for ebay auctions and thought of a cool quick custom. It's Green arrow in his longbow hunters hood. Pretty simple just a Secret Wars Doom hood but it allows me to show off my cover art. The color scheme works too. Hawkeye's Junk
Custom update 3-11-12 It's been a while since i have done a custom, almost a year (yikes). However, through this great message board I was able to do two customs that I've been dying to do. I'm big Teen Titans fan and one of my favorite chick superheroes is Wonder Girl! Now what would Wonder Girl be without her man, Superboy. God bless the decal thread, it's making dreams come true! Too bad that these never got made, it would've been a perfect two pack. Big props to Rheul for helping out with this decal. Connor Kent -Super Boy Pretty Simple custom and a lot of people have done him. I'm just glad to have him in my collection. I recently finished up the New Krypton/War of the Supermen storyline, so I gave Superboy his wristband that he wore during that time. I was going to give him cuffed sleeves but it ended up looking goofy. Uploaded with ImageShack.us Superboy in flight Uploaded with ImageShack.us Crazy Lex Superboy from when he flipped out and wiped out the team Uploaded with ImageShack.us My fav of the two Cassie Sandsmark Wonder Girl - Big thanks to Jboogie for the decal designs, Thanks Bro! Where else would teenage super heroes go for fun? Doom's Castle! Uploaded with ImageShack.us Side shot showing off the pants. I kinda of modded them a little from the source material. Her midriff was a pain to paint to match up with the sticker. Also, learned that red is hard to paint on a nude chest piece. Too many coats. Uploaded with ImageShack.us Lastly, Date at the castle...aawwww Uploaded with ImageShack.us Edited March 12, 2012 by Hawkeye's Junk

Jeff
Love those AOA action shots! I've been meaning to do something like that with mine. Are you planning on making a Sugar Man as well? Or some of the other obscure characters? I'm working on a AOA Blob using the no-ghost's body and the Hulk's muscle arm pieces. I still need to get my hands on a AOA Sinister. Good eye boyd, yeah that's Stargirls hair. I figured it looked the best. The face is captivity six I was going to with Kim Bauer or Ilyanna but went with Six. great stuff! I am disappointed you didn't snap any pics of them in the honeymoon suite. Where did you get the red flight stand?? Creepy lol, well she started out as a nude minimate. Plus the last time she banged Conner he died shortly after. I casted the red flight stand. I think it turned out well. Excellent work!! Thanks Moo! Jeff
The no ghost is from the real ghostbusters minimate line. It's the logo with the red crossed out circle. His body shape is perfect for blobs gut and chunky legs, granted he's only in the comic for a few panels before havoc kills him. (;
Hawkeye's Junk
Oh, man that would be perfect. I never thought of doing that. I thought he was in X-Calibre 1?
