Trekker 42
I saw this question in a column in the AJC one day: If you woned a movie theater and had one week to show classics what would you show? The theater has two screens dedicated to classic week and you can show two different movies every day, so 14 classics. Mine are Star Wars Raiders of the Lost Ark King Kong Superman Silence ofthe Lambs Citizen Kane LOTR Return of the King Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs Gojira Mr. Smith Goes to Washington (Amazing film for people who like underdog stories) The Godfather Gone With the Wind Schindler's List Forrest Gump Now, I'm sure that I will get people to call me out on this one: "Where's Casablanca?" "What happened to Lawrence of Arabia?", but keep in mind, no matter how much of a movie fanatic I am, there are movies I haven't seen or that I do not like. I have never seen Lawrence or Casablanca, so I did not include them. It's that simple.
karamazov80
off the top of my head. . . -Miller's Crossing -Aliens -the Thin Man -the Maltese Falcon (as far as Bogey pics go, this one is superior to Casablanca, in my opinion). . .or Chinatown -Ghostbusters -A Nightmare on Elm Street -Evil Dead 2 -Singin' in the Rain -the Good, the Bad, and the Ugly -Raiders of the Lost Ark -Batman: Mask of the Phantasm (I already saw this one in the theaters, and it floored me seeing animated Batman on the big screen) -one of the first 3 Star Wars movies -the Man Who Shot Liberty Valence -Transformers: the Movie (not the Bay one)
maz
What's funny is I live two doors down from one of those old single screen movie theatres. It's called The Bridge Theatre. You should see the stuff we have. Midnight Mass is the bomb. Not to mention the "Drag" race we have as well. If you've never lived in San Francisco, I suggest you try it at least once in your life.
