Spearox
Well, with the soon-to-be release of the Thor minimates, and I want both, I have a spare Loki, so I was thinking I should have some fun with paint and make my first custom. I was having a butchers at my Encyclopaedia and saw a few that would be quite easy to do, and a novelty to have. 1) Cpt. Gennis-Vel, I'll lose the cap and horns, and paint him dark blue, red, with the star, and random white dots, but the hair I can get off of Cable, but I really want to keep it on cable, and if I buy another set, I will have a spare hairless cable and spare Bishop. 2) The Vision, Lose the horns and cape, and just paint it with Visions colours. Easy. 3) Wonderman, Yes, I knows he's coming in the same wave, but I want one where he's all purple, so lose the cape and horns, throw on a black hairpeice (which has the same problem as Gennis Vel) and try to copy normal wonderman, but paint his skin purple whilst making it look bumpyish (hard to explain, but easy to imagine). Any suggestions / ideas / guidance will be appreciated. Dan,xxx P.s. - Do I need to do some drawings or diagrams, or do it straight off the bat ? jcastick
You can make some sketches of the mates you want to make, just so you have the nate style of your character. Reference Pics are always good to go by, so you can get the colors and design right. Lastly, Just have fun!
Punisher
instead of cables hair peice for gennis-vell you could use the dr. fate hair peice, because you dont really need it unless you display him unmasked
Spearox
Thanks guys, I think I'm going to go for Gennis, but I won't get pics up for a while, since the Thor Wave hasn't come out yet. Any special types of paint reccomended, or varnish etc ?
jcastick
I use acryllic paint one my figures and then use a coat of Clear-Coat so the paint won't chip.
MINI_MYTE
Thanks guys, I think I'm going to go for Gennis, but I won't get pics up for a while, since the Thor Wave hasn't come out yet. Any special types of paint reccomended, or varnish etc ? I suggest using Citadel paints you can procure at a Gamesworkshop or at you comic book shop (if they carry Warhammer stuff). As for clear coats, I suggest Testor's "dullcoat" finishing spray. Makes your customs look store bought.
Vash
i second the citadel paints.. wide colour selection and if you have a gaming store that carries Gamesworkshop products the primer and clear coat i use is a brand called Armory. They offer white, grey, and black primer as well as a very nice matte clear coat..
