minimadman
I need some help from someone more techno savvy than I. I have 2 external hard drives that sit on my desk and one of my kids knocked them off on to the floor now they will not load. I can hear the drives moving but thats it. Is there a way to get the info off of them?
b00sted
inside of a HD is like a record player a disk w/ a needle. Best bet if it is something super needed to recover may want to see if any local pc shops offer services to try to fix if not to damaged also my 2 cents as someone that has a 5TB server sitting upstairs use a online backup! I use crashplan.com
youbastards
Yeah, doesn't sound good. Professional data recovery services (where they disassemble the drive and install it in a new housing) are expensive (in the hundreds if not thousands) and most companies charge an initial fee to tell you whether or not they can even recover any data. The same thing happened to me a few years ago, just hours after I dumped my entire cd collection to mp3, a cat knocked my hdd off the table. I had to do the whole thing over again. Shanester
A good old IDE or SATA to USB might help.
