Jatta Pake
I'm at it again with my website nonsense. I'm seeking a limited number of Minimates customizers who are interested in the following: 1) Uploading pictures of your customs onto a free website, 2) Providing me feedback regarding website design and usability. This website is VERY EARLY in its creation but the overall design goal is to create a database of Minimate customs. Inspired in part by Ivan's Minimate Database. If you are interested in joining this project, please send me a Private Message. I will send you a login, password, and website address. Jatta Pake
PMs sent. I still have plenty of room for more customizers to join. Don't worry if you are not a high volume customizer, you can upload quick customs as well.
DarkRedShadow
sent my PM,I hope all goes well with you site Jatta!
Nessex
It's a great sounding idea. As a non-customiser, i can't really help with Beta-testing, but i thought i might suggest a contact/commission area? I know a lot of the boardies here do take commissions for custom minimates. It might be a way to open up their business a little more? Just a thought - not sure if it's really what you had in mind for the site. Can't wait to see it up and running. Best of luck. Jatta Pake
PMs sent. Nessex - Great idea. I will explore this a bit more as it would be a great way for customizers who show-case their work to also be available for contact.
dr baghead
If you just need pictures to test and don’t care about quality (of the picture or most certainly the customs) I’ll help... is going to be like the JLU Custom database the AFI Forum has going on? if so it’s a great idea, a searchable database of customs will be awesome when trying to remember who we ‘borrowed’ ideas from. Jatta Pake
PMs sent. Yes, I'm looking for pictures to test. Quality of custom or image no big deal. My intent is to not delete or lose any uploaded work so anything added will be part of the finished database. I actually was unaware of the AFI site but I'll check it out. Might provide some design ideas.
Jatta Pake
To answer some FAQ regarding the new site: Who is eligible for the Beta Test? If you are reading this you are eligible to join. My focus at this early stage is database functionality. I want to make sure the basic functionality is working properly. When the the site launches, the general public will be eligible to register and submit customs. If I submit customs in Beta, will they be lost when the site launches? No. But if Beta Testers unanimously propose a database redesign then we have the option of starting fresh. Not part of my plan though. Why are you doing this? I love Minimates and the collecting community. And I especially love Minimate customs. I also found that the skills I developed when creating and running Minimate Headquarters have turned out to be professionally useful in real life. With MMHQ I learned HTML, CSS, and other skills. Do custom submissions have any requirements? None other than they be appropriate photos in JPG format. By appropriate I mean no overt porn, racist, sexist, or drug pictures. I think most would prefer a clear picture of the custom similar to Ivan's MMDB photos of production mates. We have this custom area here at MMMV, why have customs on another site? For me, I love looking at customs but the forum structure isn't always conducive to quickly finding new customs that are buried in threads. The database is a method for quickly categorizing and searching with filters. My hope is that the database compliments the Custom area here. Can I upload other people's work? Only with their permission. A field in the database has been created so the creator is credited. If an image authenticity is questioned, I will take it down. I have a copy of the old MMHQ library of customs that many enjoyed years ago. If there is interest and approval from Dragon, I may look into adding these to the database. Sounds cool, what's the catch? No catch. My development time is limited as this is a hobby project, but the more people who participate the richer the experience will be. This is very web 2.0 philosophy.

Jatta Pake
bobbafett encountered some issues uploading but I think we may have addressed the issue. Let me know of any error messages when attempting to log in. Thanks all!
Jatta Pake
We've encountered a known bug when trying to login via Firefox. If you get a weird error message you may need to clear your cookies. Failing that you my need to use a different browser. Not the ideal solution but hopefully a fix is on the way. Jatta Pake
Thanks bobafett. I changed the date field to be optional. You are no longer forced to select a date. Also, I've been wading through the old old old customs here at MMMV. For members who have been inactive for some time, I'm uploading their customs to the database. I want a robust population of customs in the database before I work on the front-end website design. I need stuff in the database to run my tests. Oh, and I added Ady's awesome customs from 2006. Rocky Skrullboa is simply awesome. Edited October 2, 2011 by Jatta Pake

Nervous Rex
hey JP, i like the idea, and you have my permission to use any photos of my customs if you want. I barely have the time to come on here and post anything, so i know it would take me forever, so if you dig anything from my thread, go for it!
