I rang what was their number the other day and was told by a very helpful gent that sadly they had closed at the end of the month the shop is still a comic store and specialises in games (trading card and board i think) but is no longer stocking minimates *now i have to find somewhere else to feed my habit) ,at least some of us still have those great skrulls they made now a little piece of mate history.
Although i like the idea of mates being just for adults ,it makes sense it aim them mostly at the kids market theres more kids buying toys than adults at mainstream stores anyway ....
They'd be ok if they werent called something so stupid ,the toys in kids meals here in the UK are always junk based on the latest kids movie. Although it does take some of the "cool" away from them being from such a mainstream company it is a great entry level way to get into "art toys".
oh and damn you northraider now i want some dunnies never really seen much of them before but they're awsome
I dont post that often (I've never got the cash to buy new mates to talk about) but i'd stick around till the bitter end ,i cant see it ending anytime soon though with all these great new releases. All the new licences are can only extend the life of the line more and more i hope one day they become a popular as kubricks (only without being blind packed)heck if it carries on at the current rate maybe they will be sold here in the UK (well i can dream cant i? )
DAMN those are some hot mates ,good to see uncanny angel (just a shame its not in a box set with the rest of the x-men ) black bolt looks really imposing with that stern look on his face and CAPTAIN BRITAIN !!! (now the second brit NOT for sale in the UK damn you DST) but my favourite has to cable the guns the shoulders he's spot on ......now i just gotta find me some cash
Ive bought a few things over the years from them (FP) they are terrible for listing things the dont have in stock and they sell variants seperatley! on the other hand play have stock mates before both 24 and rocky
