  1. I thought the movie was great! Some points I found interesting: *I liked all the characters, as they were all flawed in some manner. But for me, while The Joker and Two-Face obviously stole the show... I thought Commissioner Gordon was excellent! Oldman really plays the character perfectly. *The villains in this movie were so well done, I am amazed they pulled it off. The Joker actually scared me. I was nervous to see what he was going to do next (slice open a mouth, blow up a hospital, shoot himself in the head, etc). Two-Face was great too! Awesome how they tied in Rachel to his backstory... it really gave the character his drive to kill. *Many complain about Batman deep voice.... but I think it is necessary. Bruce Wayne's natural playboy voice is not very intimidating. Plus it helps to disguise one of the most well known men in the world. *I prefer Maggie Gyllenhaal's Rachel. She was still tough and sweet, but I felt she had more of a presence. Especially in the idea of being an Assistant District Attorney. No offense to Katie Holmes, I think she is a fine actress... she just never struck me as the Assistant DA. It was horrible the way she died, but necessary to solidify The Dark Knight. *I don't think Two-Face is dead. I think once the public discovers Harvey Dent is an insane killer, things will go wrong. Their "white knight" will be a facade. I also don't think they should recast The Joker. Heath Ledger made his mark, and it cannot be replaced. Have The Joker stay locked up in Arkham. All in all, I will likely see it again. With Iron Man and The Dark Knight, plus the vastly improved Incredible Hulk... this is the best comic-movie year ever!
  2. The Zelda ones are fantastic! You need to make a Princess Zelda to go with them and complete the triforce!
  3. I would leave negative feedback for sure. The item description did not match the purchase. But wait on that for a second. So basically, they left out Juggernaut and Beast? I would definitely try first contacting the seller, and see if they would send it separately. If not, then contact ebay and deliver the negative. If you act too quickly, you might ruin your chances of getting the Juggernaut/Beast 2-Pack from them.
  4. Don't feel sad... I just realized I have absolutely no variants of any kind. Not even the lame ones like DoFP Wolverine! So I would be very happy with having a Mary Jane!
  5. I'm excited, though not midnight showing excited. In fact, I have never been to a midnight show... I should try it some time. I hear Ledger's performance is spectacular. However, I worry if all this hype is simply a way to honor his death. Which would ultimately leave me disappointed. You'll have to let me know when you get back from the midnight showing.
  6. In the US, it is supposed to air in the Spring of '09 on the Nicktoons Network, to coincide with the Wolverine movie. However the UK is supposedly getting to see the pilot on August 2, 2008. I'm not sure if the UK is getting the first season, or just the pilot. From what I read, the pilot is supposed to be 3-half hour episodes, making it almost like a mini-movie. Hope this helps.
  7. Tyler Durden looks great! I think it is cool how you are doing movie minimates, like the Boogie Nights ones. The 80's & 90's Storm, plus 90's Jean are well done too! Why is Jean so mad? Though for some reason it seems to work for the character.
  8. That seems pretty good to me. I agree with the OP, around that time will be the Wolverine movie.... if if we get mates from that: Wolverine & Sabretooth Silver Fox & Agent Zero Gambit and Deadpool Variant: Gambit and Blob
  9. Your Black Panther, Sunfire and Deadpool are amazing.... if they ever make mates of them... that is exactly how I would want them to look!
  10. Actually I definitely have with Blob and Avalanche. Blob wouldn't be too hard, he's just big. But "movie-esque-ing" Avalanche may prove to be a bit more difficult. My main concern is that he would need to fit in with Pyro, as they are best buds in the comics. So I guess he would have a teenage-punk kind of look. I would have to experiment and decide what personality fits movie-Avalanche best. (I like to think these out... some say I over-analyze ). Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch would be hard too, as their mainstream costumes definitely are a "no-no" in the movieverse. So I would have to redesign them too. I will make it my project and update as soon as I have an idea... which might take over a month cause Summer Calculus and Chemistry is getting in the way. But I will work on it.
  11. Thanks again everyone for the nice comments!! They make me happy. That is a good idea! I am happy with the brown suit, but the Picard head would make Xavier perfect! Does anybody want an extra Star Trek suit and whoever Picard is paired with? I just want the head. Haha! Kitty is supposed to be "phasing"... if it helps, she does have a pair of feet if necessary. Yeah Toad was actually my "scraps" custom. I thought I had actually written that, but I guess I left it out. I think his face is yellowish, with green hair.... based on these pics: But he definitely doesn't have a bowl-cut, maybe I'll fix him so he better matches with the rest. With Magneto, I haven't found the perfect face yet... it is too bad LotR was in the 3 inch scale.... any suggestions? I might add the little skirt piece he wears in the movie, but I am satisfied with his body for now (that sounded dirty...). As for pairs (in no particular order)... 1) Cyclops and Jean (lovers) 2) Angel and Rogue (the "cure-seeking" students) 2) Storm and Beast (they seemed close) 3) Wolverine and Phoenix (ending X3 battle) 4) Colossus and Juggernaut ("should have been" battle) 5) Magneto and Mystique (main villains) 6) Sabretooth and Toad (X1 villains) 7) Pyro and Iceman (rivals) 8) Nightcrawler and Deathstrike (X2 only) 9) Xavier and Kitty (Teacher/student) 10) Gambit and Psylocke (Omitted cool character/needed more than a cameo) 11) Variant: Gambit and Jubilee (Omitted cool character/needed more than a cameo) I hate variants of big characters.... but there was an odd number of mates. That is how I would pair them anyways...
  12. Thanks for all the great compliments everyone! I'm glad you liked them! For some reason I thought people wouldn't, it seems like people don't like the movie mates as much as the comic based ones. sir_danez, I'm embarrassed to say I can't remember the head origin exactly, but I am pretty sure it is Hawkgirl. The hair is a modified X3 Storm, I basically I gave her extensions. I had a lot of extra Storm-hair due to me buying extra Storm/Colossus mates to make the rest of the X-Men. The body is Ms. Marvel, with the lightening bolt gone. I agree karamazov80, I think DST is actually holding off on any Gambit mates until the Wolverine movie is closer... likely so they can profit off of his popularity spike he is sure to get when the film is released. I mean look at all the Iron Mans that are being released!
  13. I posted some pictures of my X3 custom mates in the Customs Section just now: http://www.minimatemultiverse.com/index.php?showtopic=4782 Hope you like them! Also bobafett, you are really cool for helping out fellow minimate collectors! Most people wouldn't put in the effort!
  14. Here is my X-Men Movie Mates collection, the majority of which I had to create since the X3 mates were only one wave. NOTE: All the images are clickable and become bigger. THE X-MEN Most of the X-Men Bodies are modified X3 bodies. I did Iceman in mid-transformation mode and Jean got an X-Suit with modified hair for better articulation. Wolverine has a New X-Men head cause I thought it resembled Jackman more. I thought Colossus looked cooler in X2, so I based his look a bit more off of that. Kitty looks a bit more like her comic book counterpart than Ellen Page, but I am okay with that. Psylocke, Gambit, and Jubilee are all based off simple looks, so they fit in with the movieverse more. I didn't like how they did Psylocke in X3, so I modified how I think she should have been portrayed. Jubilee's look is based off the X-Men Legend video game. Gambit will likely be updated/replaced when the new Wolverine movie comes out. I just added them in since I was showing the rest of my X-Men customs/collection. THE BROTHERHOOD I was tempted to buy the Dark Phoenix variant, but I didn't really like the translucent look. So I modified a Street Fighter head and gave her new hair. Plus a customized a Phoenix stand, with the Phoenix bird coming out of the back. I am happy with that. Their big confrontation. Group Shot (and fun with photoshop) Anyways, hope you like them!
  15. I know that the X3 wave was, and still is, my favorite wave. I really liked the X-Men Movie costumes, and modeled the rest of my X-Men around their respective movie costumes. I especially bought extra Storm and Colossus Mates, in order to make my movie costumed Cyclops, Iceman, Kitty, Nightcrawler, Angel, Jean, and Rogue. It then inspired me to make movie versions of Magneto, Mystique, Toad, Sabretooth (mostly just the regular Sabretooth mini), Deathstrike, "Dark" Phoenix, and Pyro. So yeah, I can see this wave being pretty popular. Plus unlike the Spider-Man 3 wave, it isn't littered with six different versions of Wolverine. They are all unique characters.
  16. Favorite: My Customized X-Men Movie Cyclops Most Valuable: I suppose Elektra, but I don't really go for value... I go for the character. The figure is kind of bulky for my tastes (without being altered a bit), but I love the character, too. Oh wow Karamazov80! I did this to my Hawkeye two nights ago cause I thought he looked odd bulked up like The Thing or Hulk, it is funny to see someone else did the same exact thing. I think it makes Hawkeye look much better.
  17. The Office for sure! Maybe even Nip/Tuck... Or relaunch of Buffy/X-Files in Minimate form.
  18. Oh duh! I actually meant Lizard... Can't seem to get all those animal names straight.
  19. I loved this movie... and I'm not even a huge Hulk fan. Definitely in the same league as Iron Man... just maybe a bit darker. Tons better the Ang Lee's artsy fartsy 'Hulk' that bored so many to tears. Tony Stark was a nice addition too.
  20. Hooray! Shocker! He was always my favorite Spidey villain. I like him because he isn't overly concerned with killing Spider-Man... he just wants to make some quick bucks. All the other villains are masterminds who attempt to destroy Spider-Man, Shocker is just your average criminal. Honestly, I never thought he would be made. Especially with Vulture, Elektro, Rhino, and Scorpion still needing mates.
  21. The Hulk wave looks 10x better to me. Although I didn't hate them as much as some other board members, I do notice a big improvement without the "diaper." I want to see what some of the other missing mates look like up close. Where's Pepper, Rhodes, Abomination, and Movie Tony? Also, I wouldn't mind the Hulk to be a bit greener, but colors always change between pre-production and final product... so I'll wait until then.
  22. Haha! I love how at the end, Henry Jones Sr. is drinking out of the grail and when Indy and Marion are in the elevator, it plays their love theme.
  23. I try not to compare originals/remakes, and appreciate them as their own movie. It leaves no expectations. But I can also understand it being difficult not to compare/contrast. From what I recall, Willy Wonka wasn't kindly in either adaptations, he was always kind of a jerk. The thing that bugged me most about that movie was Charlie... they made him too good. It always appealed to me that the original Charlie made a mistake, but was forgiven when he showed remorse. The new Charlie was this "golden child" that did no wrong.... a bit unrealistic to me. At any rate, I think The Mummy was the best, although that story is pretty different from the original. The worst would be Poseidon (Adventure). The new one was so boring to me for some reason.
  24. The movie is about religious artifacts. The Mayans worshiped the aliens; therefore the crystal skulls are religious in nature. The only difference is that the Mayan beliefs aren't mainstream like Christianity. But they are both religions. I thought it was a bit weird for the alien to come alive at the end. I thought it was cooler to see the crystal skeleton come alive. I did like how Spalko died.... she got exactly what she wanted.
