  1. Oh absolutely! Charlie Sheen, Willem Dafoe, Johnny Depp, Tom Berenger? Endless possibilities. It's probably the closest we'll ever get to a SM movie "Green Goblin"...of course it will be without the costume. Still, a cool set even if you don't care for the film. Personally, I know I'll be working on some Major Jeague Minimates! Who played the part of Major Jeague?
  2. Santa Spidey which was about $24 + shipping from US.
  3. Platoon is a great film Dan & one of the best films made about the Vietnam War. As a Minimate collector I look forward to the box-set's release along with Silence of the Lambs......good,wholesome characters apart from the occasional serial murderer & rapist.
  4. No ,I'm happy with my Mitsubishi Evo 8 Sorry,I just can't help it.......DSLR= Digital Single-lens reflex....right? I know zilch about cameras, all I know is that my Sony Cyberman Shot Mk2. won't take photos like 'what you take'. Enlighten me please .
  5. It's like the really cheesy porn of the 80's when all the women had red high heels and the men had white knee socks pulled all the way up. Ooops, perhaps I've said too much...... I saw this last night having come home from the pub....so funny I've just re-read the comments & who made them .....notably rodbender & new goblin...Rod Bender has got to be the name of the bloke who HAD the white knee socks & I believe new goblin was an innovative way of pleasing his co-star Then I noticed the avatars that accompany each post & is it just me but they all look furtive(esp.Fujis) or voyeuristic (Mini-myte etc.etc.) ? Imagine each of the avatars as they apparently watch 'Mates er...um...er mating I am just friggin' creasing up with laughter....even ol' Huckleberry's racing to (or from) the scene.....too much. ....... & what the hell is karamazov(his )monkey doing....I know
  6. I hit the link, started reading & went from 'totally disinterested' to 'totally mesmerised' . The use of profane language never bothers me but there was the constant use of one word, by DMX & in peoples' comments ,that does. In this country I would be arrested if I used it & deservedly so . It just ain't necessary. Apart from that ,hugely entertaining & enlightening.
  7. The X-Files has got to be in any top ten ,well it's in mine. CSI, Lost,Twin Peaks,Heroes,Thunderbirds,Dr.Who,The Avengers,Man from Uncle, Tellytubbies*,The Simpsons,The Prisoner,Firefly,Dad's Army are not my Top Ten (or 13) but they would all be contenders. These days US shows lead the way! *Of course I was joking
  8. I am in awe of your photos & began to think that maybe I'd update my camera & go for your spec. I just got the price...& I'm now in awe of that. I guess the photos themselves speak volumes as to the capability of the camera & it's user. Pete what do you use? Ivan's Database photos are also sensational ,I wonder what gear he uses? Maybe I'll open a new thread?
  9. Well, they always get a nice amount of attention from ToyFare magazine. Over here, for a niche-market collectible, that's pretty significant. Thanks God Magnus I was unaware of that !
  10. I gave freely my previous tip & I will continue to do so without prejudice. Level 2 of' bhm's handy hints to release static limbs' is the Microwave Technique. Place the troublesome 'sticky-jointed hallowed item' within the confines of your kitchen 'food zapper'. Give it three minutes,no longer, no more! ..................PM me with the results & I will have a whole new thread with you as the punch-line
  11. I live in England & have no real idea of what/how much exposure Minimates get in the US but I gather it's not a lot. I have on occasion seen ads in US comic books for 'superhero' 'mates but how else does a prospective buyer get information about Minimates? With great difficulty! I am continually at a loss as to where Minimates as a line are going regarding the future & I reckon without this forum no bugger would have a clue what's coming when? 24's apparent demise isn't a shock to me ,I personally liked them but Minimates have one big Achilles heel......if the Minimate doesn't have a uniform, costume or prop that isn't instantly recognisable when it's out of it's packet it becomes ......anonymous. There are many many brilliant pictures of collections here in the threads ,find one & you'll instantly recognise all your favourites. Shove 24 Jack amongst them & he becomes .....anonymous amongst the easily recognised. I bought 24 but then I'd buy anything Minimated , it boils down to sales & sales are borne through marketing .....where is the marketing for these lines? I'm buying 'Mates ,you're buying 'Mates ....& they are far superior (in general) than anything that Medicom produce....but there needs to be new buyers & to be honest I don't think there will be without some form of promotion. If I was designing Minimates packaging I would print a link to the Forum that promotes Minimates.....The Minimate Multiverse ..... it is the foremost promotional tool that DST have ,that's good but not good enough IMO
  12. I had a similar problem with a Star Wars Kubrick figure & I was loathe to use hot water for fear of damaging the paint,I chose instead to put it in the freezer for an hour so. It worked ,the 'hand' loosened! This advice is genuine & I should have refrained from the rather poor attempt at humour
  13. I will not ridicule you BHM. This is a place for learning and sharing: http://en.dcdatabaseproject.com/Starro (Plus I've noticed from other posts you are quite witty and don't want you to make fun of me ) Thanks a lot Fo Shizzle for sharing & I have subsequently learned I hereby promise not to make fun of you........today
  14. That is so wrong!! I avoided the part about rings being loosened with hot water
  15. Dude, it's an excuse to produce an 80s Madonna! I personally think that's awesome. This is the gateway to Devo, Duran Duran, and Police minimates. I liked the Police,I even went to a Duran Duran concert & enjoyed it. No real problem with Madonna actually but let's have the conical bosomed version.
  16. Just out of curiosity, what is the connection between those two properties that you see? That they are both non-sci-fi TV/movie Minimates? Perhaps....just perhaps...DSS is (perhaps) the nadir(!) of the Minimates line. I won't swear but WTF is that all about???? In all the bars in all the world....Desperately Seeking Susan?????? Can you imagine anyone apart from Guy Ritchie even opening the packaging......vogue,vogue,vague!
  17. First of all be very careful rubbing round the ring-piece, it is extremely delicate. Secondly ignore my banal double-entendre whenever possible When starting a thread such as 'stuck hands' ......beware.... bhm is lurking
  18. I missed '24' series 1 when it was broadcast on UK TV. I was unaware of its existence until the last few episodes were aired so I waited until the first day the DVD set was released. That day was ,I think, Thursday. I watched the first episode at 7 p.m. Thursday night & by Saturday afternoon at 5 p.m. I had watched all 18 hours! Absolutely terrific show. By series 4 it had become stale . I draw the parallel with the 'Mates. Rocky 'Mates will go the same way IMOP ,just give us Mr.T first.
  19. '' Holy amputees Batman'' ''What's afoot,Robin'' ''12 inches?''* *bhm is on his 5th can
  20. I just know I shouldn't be asking this question but what is it? bhm prepares himself for ridicule from fellow board-members
  21. I should have said that ,they are brilliant.
