  1. More pics coming soon. But I wanted to get this one out of the way:
  2. I didn't even know that rule. I think when a toy line has been around for ten years, and character popularity has shifted all over the place, and everybody has two or three different looks, that not repeating a figure that has been in a box set seems like an odd rule. Were certain characters in box sets designated as never being made again? How were they chosen? Was it one per set? Was this officially stated somewhere?
  3. Guns guns guns. And lookit what I made! In comic stores tomorrow. TRU soon.
  4. Zik is very different from the rest of Series 1. We needed someone for Vorin to fight in this two-pack, and Zik was the route we went. Series 1 figures are still in development, and will be debuted at SDCC.
  5. It's not Avengers. No, it was based on what was in the works at the time of creation.
  6. No offense intended, bhm. I just was surprised you don't know our methods by now. Figured you'd be one of the first to spot the parts and question the paint job. And I would definitely argue that Tuesday does not follow Thursday, at least as general rule.
  7. If it's in the poll, it's not in the works, remember. If we had a modern Luke Cage coming, you wouldn't be voting on him. Only one more Marvel set for SDCC. Plus the TRU poll should be unveiled soon...
  8. I am allowed to say! But I want to say it with photos. And I'm not sure what the two-packs will have beyond what's shown, but I do have samples of the AvX set I can't wait to play with!
  9. I think it was scaled down a little too far. Most of those parts are from Theater Ghost, and with the longer torso he should be a little taller than Vorin... I think. I've got the theater ghost's torso on Vorin's legs, and he's looking pretty tall. Maybe it's not too late to make this the first scratch & sniff Minimate set! Might be a huge selling feature. Might just stink. Might be both! I will personally add odors to all of your Spidey Minimates.
  10. I will assume you're talking about the movie you haven't seen, and not the product. You got it all wrong, BHM. We created him because all of those parts ARE tested -- we've used them all before! If we'd used any Series 1 parts, they definitely would have been untested. Just getting tooled samples now, and they need work. And I can't remember any time we've shown a prototype where translucent parts were shown as translucent. Pretty sure the wings will be translucent, we just don't cast translucent wings to use in prototypes. Maybe if we'd had blue pre-made, instead of purple.
  11. There should be a filter on this forum that automatically deletes "[insert set here] is a pass from me." I always knew that the AFX sets would be more exciting for you guys, anyway. (Not sure of announce date, but I hope he makes you all wait. ) Spidey is the most popular Minimate we sell at SDCC, so I expect a lot of kids and parents will like the ASM set. Wish we'd been able to get a lab coat into that one, but I'm sure it will do fine. Walking Dead is not a spoiler. This is based on the comic book, and that happened years ago. Who knows when and if it will happen in the show -- it'll certainly make filming difficult and uncomfortable for Rick. The Zik Minimate was put together for fun -- none of the Series 1 sculpts were gonna be ready in time. It doesn't represent the line, but you'll see Series 1 at SDCC, and you'll want to get the Dragonfly to fight the Scorpion. Pretty sure that reflects the control art I showed at C2E2, though -- those wings were too cool not to re-use. May ultimately go with slightly different Colossonaut chest, and helmet is not final colors. And that's not hair behind Hope's knee -- not a Phoenix base, either. New pics soon. Bananas is still not a clue. I will think about it!
  12. Will take some pics of the extra parts you get with the AvX set soon.
  13. No, I said the AFX exclusive sets were bananas. The Monday announcement is for the DST/Previews items, not AFX. AFX will announce theirs later.
  14. Isn't the new Bucky series titled "Winter Soldier"? I'm sure all his friends call him Bucky, but the world at large thinks Bucky is dead. I haven't read the new series, but I imagine his enemies all call him WS? And I don't think Songbird completes anything, but she's become a fairly high-profile character on her own.
  15. For the record, "bananas" was never a clue, just me getting excited and liking early Woody Allen. And, for the record, where did anyone say 1980s and non-human? Was that in the chat as well? Where are people getting this random information?
  16. They're all TRU exclusives, except Daredevil. Not sure why only two have stickers.
  17. Kostis and BHM, you aren't in American TRUs seeing what's hanging around. While I don't see many Pirates or MAX any more, I see a lot of Sony sitting around not doing anything -- if they'd blown out of there, we'd probably have found a way to make more, but it may also have been the nature of the deal. (There are also a lot of UM, but the line must still do relatively well for them, because we're still selling them there. ) And TRU orders a LOT more Minimates than we sell to specialty. I don't know DC numbers, but I seriously doubt that DC Direct made more Minimates than we made Sony 'Mates for TRU. The difference in apparent availability is that the DC Mates started out in the whole general specialty/online/secondary market, while the TRU-exclusive stuff starts out in stores (or on TRU.com) and people need to actively go and buy them and BRING them into the secondary market realm. And again, the profit margin on Minimates is not worth it for most people to make that effort. And by the time they're marked down, there's not much of a market any more.
  18. Until it finds a home, it's pretty much inactive. We thought about doing something for SDCC, but decided not to.
  19. I was going to tell everyone that Diamond Comics pushed back their announcement until Monday at 11 AM, but this bananas discussion was just getting interesting.
  20. Pretty sure I've talked extensively about how the Wrecking Crew are NOT a box set waiting to happen, but that may have been on Fwoosh...
  21. It was a fluke. Disney wanted Wave 44 as 4-packs, we needed to fill out the 4-packs with bigger names and fewer Ant-Men, yadda yadda. Not a template going forward. (Not many Disney Mates on the schedule, and not many Avengers slated between here and next year.) But yeah, these sets were announced before Wave 44 came out to give you guys a heads-up it was happening. I know Luke was very nice about it and allowed people to cancel their 44 orders based on this. (Sorry again, Luke.)
  22. Looks like we ended up going that way. Black-and-white at specialty, color at TRU. I don't think you guys will have trouble. Doctor Who, I don't know what happened - technically, it wasn't our product, a la DC Mates, so I guess two companies and a licensor needed to get paid to make it worth their while? Not sure. But Godfather I can see not selling to TRU OR specialty, which I think is what happened. Or the deal fell through. But Munsters is solid. 7" fgures did very well at Specialty and TRU, and specialty sales for the Mini-Koach are strong. We'll be offering an electronic 1:15 Koach very soon.
  23. That's highly debatable. The variables factoring into your decision-making process are already in the double digits, why add specific uses for specific parts? Plus, the difficulty would have been transferred to us instead -- 32 pieces of control art to be created for seven picks? That's a tall order. Be thankful there are photos -- this way you don't have to guess at what costumes I'm talking about. Besides, you can always ASSUME that the Minimates will look awesome.
  24. Do you mean that you hope DST will see that you, Multiverse members, are more interested in unmade second-tier characters than new versions of A-listers? That was to be expected. I got most of these characters from a poll conducted right here, in fact. But we wanted to have some more recognizable characters in the series, so we put together Poll #1, using some wishlisted variants. After all, not all of these characters are that recognizable to casual fans, as we can see. To be honest, I'm surprised there are people voting here who don't know who Songbird is, or confuse her with Mockingbird. She's been in T-Bolts from the start, is a future Avenger according to the Avengers Forever series, and was a lot more high-profile than Mockingbird for a while there. (To be fair, Mockingbird was dead.) Even more surprised that people think Gladiator is "silly." He was Marvel's Superman loooooong before that Sentry dude came along, and has been a major X-Men character for going on, what, 30 years? FYI, 4,500 people have voted in Poll #1 so far. More votes will be recorded, though, as more people discover the polls. (Duplicate votes from the same computer are not recorded.) So you can see the size of the audience we're drawing on, and why the polls needed to be split up this way. Some of these guys wouldn't have stood a chance.
  25. Let's see... SDCC will have a 2-pack, a third SDCC cover on the comic, giveaway posters (not sure which), possibly giveaway ashcans again and MAYBE a giveaway figure, we'll see. Probably more of your favorite business cards, as well! Trying to get a Curnow/Farinas/Brereton signing to happen, too.
