  1. The others have thoroughly covered my reasons for liking Minimates. I suppose when it comes down to it, I like the simple style of the body, combined with some surprisingly versatile articulation, and how many characters can be (and have been) made. The recent announcements of new licenses are very exciting, and I love that in one figure line, I'll have characters from Marvel, LOTR, 24, and all the others. They're also small and affordable, which fits my space and cost restrictions just fine. So yeah: small, cheap, versatile, and fun. I suppose I could have saved myself the time and just said that in the first place.
  2. I am VERY excited by the idea of 24 Minimates. I think the show has really slid since the first two seasons, but I keep watching because it's entertaining, though often laughable these days. But hey, I figure if I'm laughing, I'm still entertained, right? Here's hoping we don't just have current (season 6) characters, but get old favorites like Soul Patch Tony and President David "The Man" Palmer. I'm pumped.
  3. It's not any kind of a tourist attraction, but if you find yourself near the Wal-Mart in Renton (which is somewhat between Ft. Lewis and Seattle), Jimmy Mac's Road House is one of my favorite restaurants. Good food, burgers served on hubcaps, and peanut shells all over the floor. Other than that, I think the others have given you good suggestions.
  4. That's exactly my thought as well. I'm not big on Ghost Rider, but a Nic Cage Minimate sounds like a funny thing to have. Same reason I would actually like Rocky Minimates: Dolph.
  5. I just got my package in the mail - very cool. Thanks to JL and anyone else involved behind the scenes!
  6. I'm still looking forward to pretending these are X2 Minimates, but I've decided I'm not too happy with Wolverine's hair. The chops look kinda silly with those hooks on them next to his mouth. I can see myself giving him hair from the Ultimate X-Men wave Logan instead, as it also has chops, but they're less scary.
  7. Indeed, big thanks to all you folks!
  8. "No, minimates taste better with milk!" Though I can't say from personal experience, I'll take your word for it.
  9. It didn't break all the way off, but it was bad enough to need replacing. I didn't try moving the new one's legs.
  10. The latest ones of these to show up in my area all have stickers on the tops of the boxes indicating what's inside, including accessories. Just found that interesting, since the first ones I saw didn't have that.
  11. X3 really wasn't nearly as good as the films that came before it. However, one of the things I'm liking here is that the costume designs for X3 were virtually unchanged from X2. That means we could get passable X2-based suited versions of Iceman, Rogue, Jean (she was in her uniform for one scene), and (if the license includes what we saw on the posters) Cyclops if they continued with these. I'd be happy to get everybody and pretend they're from X2. The Professor, of course, has already pretty much been done in movie form as far as I'm concerned, unless they wanted to change the face and put X wheels on the chair.
  12. So that's at least three of us that have broken Nightcrawler hips? Man, when I finally get a replacement, I'm just leaving his legs alone.
  13. I know the single-disc DVD just came out, but we're getting another DVD at some point. Like I said, other regions are getting a 2-discer right away, but we get to wait for it. The X3 mates could come out at the same time as that.
  14. Well, it's already been confirmed that the US will get a 2-disc version of X3 sometime in the future (other regions are already getting it this month, while we get the single disc), so they still have a chance to get these out at the same time as a DVD of the movie. I found X3 to be the weakest of the films by far, but I'm still interested in these. I would hope they could continue with the movie-style characters, though, as there are plenty of X-folks left. Would I be right in guessing that the Phoenix variant will be Jean with black eyes and veiny skin?
  15. That's exactly what happened with mine, though the leg isn't completely off. There's a visible tear in the peg, so it's kind of like a loose tooth just hanging on.
  16. Looking at my receipts for the Iceman set and the newer stuff, they both have that number listed, so I guess it stays the same. I just took a few pictures of Professor X and his new ride, anybody want to host them? In other news, my Nightcrawler's hips are all screwed up so I'm back to waiting for another Target to get these in so I can exchange him. Sad, because he was the one I was most excited to get.
  17. So the blue suit isn't the only thing different on Professor X. His wheelchair is now a shiny silver, with black wheels. Between that and the suit, I like to think of this as "movie" Professor X. Like the others in these packs, though, he has a hole in his head. Luckily, it can be covered by his Cerebro helmet.
  18. I noticed you said something about Tacoma recently, Donster, and also thought it's cool to have a fellow collector in the area. Hopefully you left some for me in Bonney Lake so I can get out there tomorrow. As for the Wolverine/Iceman thing, it's just a solid case of 12 of those guys. It came after the Fantastic Four sets went away, and is currently in healthy supply at the Puyallup and Lakewood Targets.
  19. I also went to three Targets today, and of the two that had any Minimates at all, they had the Wolverine/Iceman case and not the other X-Folks. That makes me wonder even more whether I'll have to wait for those to sell through before more will show up. It's strange that they'd ship a solid case of one set and then follow it up with such a diverse group of characters in the next case.
  20. We have a winner! I like the blue-suited Professor. I know I'm not the only one who watched Darktide and said "Man, I wish they'd make toys of them!"
  21. For the people who have found these, had your Target stores already sold through the solid case of Wolverine/Iceman, or were these alongside those? The solid case is moving slowly at my Target, so I don't know if I should be expecting the other sets soon or not.
  22. Somebody on TNI says he found the same sets, plus one with Ben Reilly and Sandman. Now, I'm happy (thrilled, really) about most of these, but two weeks ago I got the Sandman and Silver Sable set at a comic shop. If I'd have waited, I could have had Ben instead of Sable. Oh well, I'm sure I'll find an excuse to get it anyway and then find something to do with an extra Sandman.
  23. (Ghostbusters.) And I only know that because somebody made a similar joke on another forum I go to two days ago. Kinda strange seeing a quote that bizarre twice in as many days... Guess I just have to watch the movie again now.
  24. I looked around, and here we have: He's definitely saying they "shipped," past tense, so either their appearance in stores is imminent, or he's full of hooey. Not sure if I'd put money on it either way, but there you go.
  25. I'm pretty sure we'll see 2/3 of those Marvel waves, since the fellow on AA's boards said the 4-packs had already shipped, right? Unless he was lying, something should be turning up soon.
