  3. Very cool!!! Danny - you will get your interview yet!
  4. I'll add my 2 cents. I spoke with someone at DST who was familiar with the issue of the delayed Minimates. Unfortunately I don't know her role at DST but I took it that she couldn't be totally candid (DST has excellent message discipline) but that is expected with good businesses. Basically, something has been happening at the factory level in China. I believe these things have been beyond the control of DST and AA. There are far more complex actors influencing the industry than I could have imagined. (For example - Chinese gov., local province government, big retailer demands, factory workers, etc.) I speculate that some combination has delayed "new" stuff. I have to admit I was getting a bit negative before SDCC, but I believe both DST and AA are sensitive to the fans concerns. They love Minimates and they want to make as many as possible. I would also speculate that these "bumps" will likely continue only because these companies are small. The Mattels and Hasbros have the muscle to minimze some of these things, but then again, when has Mattel or Hasbro ever developed such a cool brand like Minimates? I think 2007 will make up for 2006 in regards to Marvel and SF2 Minimates.
  5. I'll add a bit to this announcement. I heard at SDCC that Art Asylum already has the 2D designs for the Rocky Minimates done. Hopefully we see these get made.
  6. Don't worry, even us "old time" collectors are often confused. As I understand it, Art Asylum owns the Minimate brand name, designs, and manufacturing processes. They partner with companies like DC Direct which owns the license and distributing piece of the equation. Theoretically, DC Direct "could" make Minimates in their own factories, but Art Asylum wants to maintain quality control so they oversee the production in their own factories. So Minimates are "made" by Art Asylum and are "distributed" to us through DC Direct. I hope that helps.
  7. YouTube - Stop Motion Fun Stumbled across this gem. An entertaining 14 minutes.
  8. I know Shanester is outta here for HI, but can anyone else who has been to SDCC let me know if I need to do anything to get some John Stewart Minimates tomorrow. Any special times they are being given out? Or is it a first come, first serve kinda thing? I just go to the DC Direct booth and ask, right? I'd like to help out and get some for the crew on this list. I can coordinate with TBT on sending them out.
  9. Mission briefing changed to Sunday. (If anyone is having problems with MMHQ, I will probably need to fix it after I return from SD).
  10. Post from my Blackberry: Note to self, leave LA earlier for SDCC. I am still sitting in traffic on the Interstate to San Diego. Thank God I booked a hotel down here for tonight. This is madness. I'm not sure if I wil make it today.
  11. Too bad the DC Minimates won't sell. If they could only have included a few Spider-Man and Wolverine versions in the waves.
  12. Welcome back Mysteryman. Ady - Great review! I can't wait to see these in person. The SF2 Wave 2 looked fantastic in person at WWLA.
  13. Whatever happened to The_Donald? I heard he could get you a great deal on a Da Bomb Minimate.
  14. Ok - I've got my list of missions. One that was not posted publically, but sent to me via PM by CHUCK59, is a mission to press DST to do more Spider-Man and Wolverine Minimate variations. He thinks that I should let them know "that's what the fans are telling me at Minimate Headquarters." It is true that I've recently received 100s of emails from people with Hotmail accounts asking if I can lead the charge to get more made. Some of these people seem to think Marvel is strongly pressing DST for more character diversity. Well, a mission is a mission, so I'm off to see if we can make sure the next several waves of Marvel Minimates include Spider-Man and Wolverine.
  15. I'm fairly certain this is a 12 pack.
  16. Iron-Cow was reportedly seen behind the DC Direct booth "painting like crazy". He was hunched over a big pile of gray Minimate parts with paint all over his hands, face, and clothes. It's a shame he can't relax and enjoy the show but he needs to finish all of the prototypes. He would have been done earlier but he got roped into painting all the John Stewart exclusives. Hand painting 1000 Green Lanterns is no quick and easy task!
  17. I want the Jon Stewart Minimate because I love his show on Comedy Central. Errrr...I need to read more DC comics.
  18. I will join Tim in trying to get as many GL's as I can for folks. If any are left by Saturday!
  19. Please forgive my post if this has been answered in another thread. I have limited connectivity to the board. So is it true that Marvel Waves 12 and 13 are NOT being sold at SDCC? Are any production samples on display? Are the prototypes even on display? WTF? I thought the quality of these next waves was in part dictated by DST's need to "get something out quick". Can we get any info from DST?
  20. And funky OMAC hips! Way to go AA and DCD! I can't wait to get my paws on these. They are beautiful!
  21. I wish I'd have ordered one. TBT - if you find any unclaimed/unpaid for by Sat. I will buy one off you.
  22. Hahaha. These are great. Although I don't think my wife will approve of my sticking Minimates on "booth babes". I would have been all over that challenge back in the day so you will need to enlist one of the bachelor minifanatics for that particular mission. (I would love to see the fast talking required to pull that one off!) Keep the missions coming!
  23. Interesting point but I disagree. Someone bought those Cubes action figures enough to launch a UPS Delivery man figure in wave 2. How will collectors know if a line is doing well if no Minimates are in stores or even for sale on the web? Crank out some generic people during the lull in regular waves. People are buying all types of obscure Kubricks. And don't even get me startd on Qees. Minimates should be dominating this collectible category. Mass market, shmass market. Release some Minimates already.
