  1. <snipped chastisement> On a more upbeat note, I bought a couple packs last night and have already sent off my receipt. I wonder how long I'll have to wait. Once people start recieving these random Minimates we should have a "Post Your Prizes" thread, so that everyone can marvel at how lucky I am.
  2. Actually it's that damned radioactive Lunesta butterfly. Superman has just been having trouble sleeping lately.
  3. Wadalf's says that he is 12 in his profile. Good thing COPA isn't applicable.
  4. <voice inflection="vader"> Pray they don't alter the deal (any further). </voice>
  5. It looks like some fye stores will carry them also. So far only one of the three stores in my area has them. Same price point.
  6. Infidels! Three inchers will once again take their rightful place at the top of the Minimate hierarchy. All are inferior to the mighty Three.
  7. Absolutely! What I wouldn't give for some KISS Minimates!
  8. Shouldn't you have asked that question before hitting the Buy It Now button? (I'm not one to talk though. I've had "Poor Impulse Control" tattooed on my forehead for quite some time.) If anyone is still looking for these, you might want to check out your local f.y.e. (if you've got one) I spotted a fresh case of these at my store last night. The price was $9.99 per two-pack, which is a little steep but you save shipping. I'd imagine that if your store got Cylons in, they will probably get these as well.
  9. I use a Canon Digital Rebel XT. It's a few years old now and has been replaced by the XTi. Like the XTi and other Single Lens Reflex (SLR) cameras, it allows you to change lenses. That way I can go from macro work (shooting Minimates), to wide angle (landscape) with the same camera. When I purchased it a couple years ago, I think it cost around $900 with the kit lens. Now that there is a new model, you can find it for under $500 for the body only. Additional lenses run from $100 to $400, with specialized ones ranging much, much higher. Nice thing about the lenses is that they will work on the pro bodies out there and probably any future bodies that Canon produces. What I like about SLRs is the complete control you have. You can set shutter speed, aperture, ISO, flash compensation, etc. or you can leave it in fully automatic mode and let the camera make the decisions. In most of the low light stuff I do, I stop the aperture down to get as much of the scene in focus as possible. But with a small aperture you need to have the shutter open longer to get enough light on the sensor. That means a tripod. This is probably overkill for what you need. But I've been out of the point-and-shoot market for a while and I don't know what's available. But I know that if you want to shoot Minimates, look for a camera with macro capabilities. This allows you to focus on objects that are closer to the camera. I've been into photography longer than toys, so I could go on and on but I think that's a good place to stop. I'm happy to answer any other questions I can.
  10. I've known some pretty smart 'little kids' in my time. Heh, even the dumb ones probably realized that you can make more space by removing a couple interior pieces (steering wheel and back rest). Or that putting one brick on top of another makes the structure taller (for ear clearance). Kids make all sorts of fun stuff with Lego without any instructions. Modifying a cockpit to fit a Minimate should be trivial. So were mine, don't take it personally. They were also for drgnrbrn316, Reideen1313, and everyone else reading the thread. Yes, even you. According to my tests Batman fits just fine in the Batwing and Bat-Skate thingy (there has to be a better name for that thing...) without modification. Although modification would make it look better. I don't even know where to begin on the 'no time for Lego' comment. There are tons* of websites devoted to Lego, not to mention the newsgroups, marketplaces, and a huge site dedictated to hosting people's Lego pictures. Those people seem to have time for Lego. Even if someone is not gung-ho over Lego, they still have time to play with their toys, right? Couldn't they use some of that toy-time and experiment with Lego? Spending ten minutes to rearrange a few bricks is not going to kill anyone. (Ingestion aside. ) Now I know Lego is not for everyone. Not everyone finds joy in building. I just don't understand why people are unwilling to modify a Lego set to make it more to their liking. Again, that's why it comes in pieces. That's why people find it fun. Okay would someone please get this soapbox out of here. I keep accidentally stepping on it and turning into a Lego shill. *Internetically valid measurement
  11. Most of the Lego vehicles can be modified very easily to allow Minimate occupation. Here's the basic Batmobile. Obviously the Minimates don't fit in the basic construction. But if you remove the steering wheel and the little backrest jobby... ..he fits just fine. You might need to add a couple tiles to allow enough height for the canopy to clear his ears but that's easy. He fits in the Batwing without modification, but again you can get a more polished look if you add a few tiles. Same goes for the Bat-Skate vehicle that comes with the Batcave. The UCS Batmobile is a different story entirely. It just looks silly... but in a good way. I love putting Minimates in overscaled vehicles. It really enhances the childlike aesthetic. Microman doesn't fit to well in the UCS Batmobile either, but he's definitely closer than Minimates. The greatest thing about Lego is you don't have to follow the smeggin' instructions. Build what you want. Modify it, tweak it, have fun with it. That's why it comes in 400 pieces. That's the point of Lego. If you just want a Batmobile that you can't change, go to Mattel. You'll even get a more accurate representation. Lego is fun because you build it. Damn soapbox. Where'd that come from?
  12. Good luck on that, you'll get it eventually. As an attractive Vulcan once said, "Humor. It is a difficult concept."
  13. They have been around for months!! be happy :banana : Is that the only part of my post you read? Or were you trying to make a joke?
  14. Has Been is in my regular listening rotation, it comes up once or twice a week. (Although I still skip the track about his wife's drowning.) I listen to The Transformed Man fairly regularly too. MR TAMBOURINE MAN!!
  15. Yep, I noticed this myself last night. There was a recent price cut on these down to $4.99 a pack at my local Targets as well. The scanners said they had more stock in the back too. I hope this is an attempt to clear out these packs in anticipation of a new wave of rolling stock coming in.
  16. 'Cause.. well, you know.. He reads all the toy boards. Denny Crane
  17. According to the bottom of the popbox website they will be Available from July 2007 onward. Since we haven't seen control art or protos... or anything really, I think that date is optimistic. But stranger things have happened, I guess.
  18. Is it just me, or does anyone else see a lot of photoshopping on Gwen and Mary Jane's faces? It looks like they heavily airbrushed all around the tampos. I wonder if it was because the color on the protos were off, or what? Spider-Man looks a bit off too, but I think that might just be the angle that the light is hitting his chest. EDIT: Oh man, I just noticed Spidey's right knee. Definite photoshop. Yikes.
  19. Seems like an odd question to me. Why wouldn't it be safe? Even if they never make that Aunt May* Minimate you desperately desire, can't you just enjoy the ones that are available? (*Or your desired charater of choice here. )
  20. I found a little more info on these variations with the help of my in-depth knowledge of the second largest European toy company, Italian based Giochi Preziosi. (That's what the text in the green circular logo reads.) It looks like most of the two packs have these Spanish variants and were distributed overseas. These images are all from this Spanish-language, toy-review/pop-culture website article from January 5, 2007. Scroll down past the Star Wars Lego to see and read about the Minimates. For those of you not able to read Spanish, I took the liberty of running the text through Google's translator. Here it is in all it's questionably accurate glory. Tremendous indeed! I can live with the disease of sexual transmission (which one, I wonder), but mounting beastly boxes goes a little far in my mind (only 14 Euros!) And with all this bequeathing going on, my mind's all a twitter.
  21. I wonder if the Nicotine Fits are keeping Ady from posting...
  22. ¡C3 en Español! Mini-Javelin Alternate Superman Mini-Flyer The Riddler Mini-Flyer The Flash Mini-Flyer Now I knew about the various English/French Marvel Minimate packs, but this is the first I've seen in Spanish for any Minimate license. My guess is that most of the C3 sets are available in this style of packaging(*) but the seller chose to resell these because they will likely turn the most profit. Does anybody else have any information on these? I try to keep up to date on this type of stuff, but I know a lot of you guys have better sources than I do. My searches for 'mininave' only came up with a few Yahoo Hong Kong auctions that were a couple years old. I've also learned it's much harder to identify porn links when they are not in your native language. My three years of high school Spanish apparently didn't give me the proper skills for filtering the boobies. (*)Although I have no evidence.
  23. You might want to look at one of these then http://ec1.images-amazon.com/images/P/B000...SCLZZZZZZZ_.jpg Can't imagine that it actually works, but it'd look great with Halle sitting in the basket, waiting to be thrown hundreds of scale feet. I don't know if that one works, but these do. The desktop trebuchet has been on my "to purchase" list for quite some time, but I just haven't been able to make the commitment.
  24. It's the impenetrable Bat-Saunaâ„¢. You put your stressed-out, over-worked, generally grumpy Bruce Wayne/Batman inside. Then just turn up the steam! In a matter of minutes, the Caped Crusader is transformed into a pliable and sweaty being of great contentment. He'll once again be ready to clean up the streets of Gotham or schmooze with local politicians to get a few more tax breaks for Wayne Industries. As an added feature, this Bat-Saunaâ„¢ comes with The Transparent Blue Spinny Thingyâ„¢. Amaze your friends! Confuse your enemies! It's non stop fun with The Transparent Blue Spinny Thingyâ„¢. Once you hold it in your hands you'll realize how empty your life was without The Transparent Blue Spinny Thingyâ„¢. I wonder where this link goes.
