  1. Each time I see Zik, I like him more. I just gave some armor and legs to the theatre ghost minimate, making him into a little battle beast minimate. They are going to be quite a little duo together. Just a little bit longer. Can't wait to have these in my hand, and see pics of series 1.
  2. I don't have an army built of any minimate figures. But I do have an army that I have been collecting for 10 years now for my battle beasts. I have an army of snakes that serve as the main bad guys of my storyline. Since it's not minimates, I hope it's alright that I post it here.
  3. C'mon, its a giant, rolling tiger head with guns! Hahaha, kidding. I have collected these to be complete with the original battle beasts. But they are pretty ridiculous.
  4. Well this set is called the "Series 1 Box Set" on AFX's site, and Chuck implied in the new Q&A that this is the first product in a line, so all signs point to yes. Fantastic! There's still so much more they could do with the line.
  5. Man, this set is just perfect. Amazing to see Panthro in minimate form. I, too, and really hoping they make more than just this set. There are so many other characters that I would love to see in minimate form. Mumm-Ra the Everliving, Slithe, Tygra, Grune, Bengali, Lynx-O, the Tiger Sharks, Monkian and Jackleman. But after this set, what I would love to see more than another other is a minimate of Claudus, Lion-O's father and previous lord of Thunderra. Like some people have already mentioned, this line is totally going to be combined with the Battle Beasts line. With just a little bit of added armor, they will fit right in with Vorin and the other beasts. Really awesome. Really hoping to see more.
  6. Hello Everyone, The official Thundercats facebook page has updated their page with a picture of the first Thundercats minimate, Spirit of Jaga. Here's a link to their post about it: I am very excited about this. But I am wondering if they are going to make an entire set or wave of these? I wouldn't think they would do something along these lines just for a single figure. But you guys know minimates better than I do. What do you think? I am really hoping to see Lion-O, Panthro, Tygra, etc... in Minimate form.
  7. Icon Heroes is the company making the Thundertank exclusive. Oh, and it looks like it is going to be Thundercats Minimates for the AFX exclusive! The official Thundercats facebook page has just revealed a Jaga Thundercats minimate!!!! So excited.
  8. Wow, I wasn't expecting the cover to be that awesome. Initially I was just thinking it was going to be a black and white version of the standard cover, with your logo at the bottom corner, like I have seen for other comic store exclusives. But this is amazing! I am really excited to have these in hand. And I agree, you need to have an exclusive Bear Battle Beast of this guy for your shop.
  9. Wow, awesome. Count me in! Once these are up, I'll put a pre-order in for one SDCC cover and the SDCC Battle Beast 2 Pack.
  10. I'd be interested. Do you know about much it would be? J
  11. I like Zik more with the new pictures in hand of him. The bright red chest and crimson arms/legs seems to work much better. And man, that Vorin is fantastic! The translucent red and grey are great, but him in full color really lets the sculpt shine. I am beyond excited to see pics from SDCC to see series 1 figures. Boosted, that repaint gator is great. Really captures a lot of the feel of the original gruesome gator. I may just have to make one of my own.
  12. Yeah, sorry, I just saw the message from Lurch77 and I just responded to that message.
  13. They're not minimates, but I did these repaints of original battle beasts a few years ago.
  14. Boyd, that shark is amazing. He has such personality! One of my favorite Battle Beasts was Sawtooth Shark, and this figure captures a lot of what I loved about the BB Shark, while still making it your own figure. Well done.
  15. Luke, that's amazing! That is very exciting. You'll have your own exclusive cover. Congrats! Really looking forward to getting these in.
  16. Name: Mystaceus “Death Leaper” Aranea Species: Jumping Spider Homeworld: Unknown Bio: Most beasts don’t know of his existence, but to those who do, he is simply known as the Death Leaper. He is an assassin, a hunter of extreme skill and patience. According to rumors that spread as whispers, those who have been marked by him know they have but eight days to live. Methodical as his nature is, he stalks his prey, learns their movements, and always strikes on the fateful eighth day. If his prey knows of their own mark, fear and paranoia drives them towards their own demise. The Death Leaper’s location is constantly shifting. No one has seen any base of operation. No one knows where he might be next. He has a small, but capable ship, the Baltic Amber. This ship, crystalline in form, contains a multitude of sensors and arrays, constantly scanning the void all around him. Deep with in the command center of the Baltic Amber lays the Death Leaper. Advanced monitors spread about him from all directions. From a source unknown to him, he receives his next target. Unquestioning and unyielding, he will set forth on his mission, relentless until he has captured or killed his mark. Until this time, he waits patiently aboard his ship, traveling from system to system. While on the hunt his skills become most evident. His agility and jumping strength, moving freely within almost any environment, has earned him his nickname. His intelligence and patience when tracking his prey has given him invaluable insight to the mind of his target, anticipating their every movement. But perhaps his greatest asset is his vision. His forward predatory vision is the equal of any hunter, allowing precise tracking across multiple light sources, including ultraviolet, allowing him to see in environments that would leave most next to blind. Additionally, he has sets of lateral eyes stretching his peripheral vision to a 360 degree field all around him, allowing him to track movement and environmental changes all around, while keeping his sight on his prey. When a job is done, he quietly returns back to his ship, to await a new order. But even to the Death Leaper, the source of these missions is unknown. He does not question. He simply hunts his next victim, whomever they may be. But to those few that know of him, they wonder what larger plot he may unknowingly be a part of. Perhaps he is one piece of a larger machine, yet to show itself until it’s ready. Hiding Strike! Catching Cheetania Lunch!
  17. That is so awesome. Thank you again so much Luke! You are really helping out a lot of people here.
  18. My other, earlier wave brutes have that T-bar crotch piece as well.
  19. Luke, put me down for a set of 25 including the Minimate.
  20. Haha, that was me! I'll take a better photo now that he can have his helmet on fully and everything fits together better.
  21. Yeah, you shot my build-a-minimate. He was the one with the green body, green skrull head, gold armor and green cape. I had issues getting him together because I as a bit greedy and wanted him to have both chest armor and a cape. Sorry about that. I did try to get through as quick as possible, since there were two kids behind me, and I wanted to make sure they got as much time as they could building their mates. But I did trim up all the pieces a little bit when I got back home, and got the chest armor, cape and helmet to all work together fit very nicely. Now he looks really nice, and is acting as a villain to my animal thor minimates. Once you know me, it's pretty hard to not spot me, with my wild, long hair, beard and flannels. My wife, Jenny, was also with me. Again, glad to meet you, even if it was incredibly brief. I'm just too shy at times. We even brought cookies, but I felt too shy to give them to you guys since you didn't know who I was. So Jenny ate them on the car ride home from the con. I have been fairly active on LRG for about 8 years now. Now that I have introduced myself on this board, I'll be sure to actually stop by and talk for a bit next year at C2E2 2013. And I'll have cookies that I'll actually give you guys. Jenny makes some pretty delicious italian cookies that were her grandmother's recipe. Anyways, back to Battle Beasts. I am very excited about these. I have grown to love minimates over the past 2 years. And just the fact that my absolute favorite toy from my childhood is coming back makes me happy. Especially since there will be a comic book to accompany it. Now, I just want to see more. I am really crossing my fingers for a chameleon down the line..... You guys have to do one. I can see why some people may not like the line. They are similar enough that most of us are going to love the line, but they are different from the original battle beasts, which it seems like something you guys intend to do. These differences may mean that some BB collector's don't like the line. Pretty much all battle beasts, at 112 different figures, utilized the same core design of a squat body, shoulder articulation only and a rub sticker or orb. These new battle beasts are different from that. They are very poseable. They are bit more human proportioned. Even though you are using the minimate body underneath, from the looks of the panel, each beast seems to be very different than the other. And they don't have the fire/wood/water rubsigns. But for me, the things that were important to me about battle beasts were; they were anthromorphic animal warriors in battle armor, were small in size (about 2") so that I could easily fit them in my pocket or have an army of them fighting, and that there was enough "character" in the sculpt to keep my imagination going and inspire me to create stories and characters for each one. For me, this new line has all the things I am looking for. But everyone has a different reasons and qualities in BBs that makes them love the original line. You've got me as an excited customer, waiting anxiously to get my hands on more. But please, do a Chameleon! Those pics, buttheadsmate, are great. I like the look of those custom animal minimates. That's one of the things I have been doing with regular mates while I wait anxiously for the battle beasts line. I'll definitely be doing many customs with this new line. Once fall comes around, I'll have some to show you guys and see what you think. Oh, and Zach, my wife told me that I have to ask. You guys were wearing Battle Beasts shirts on saturday. Do you have any plans to make more of those shirts? Oh, and I have a question for all of you minimate collectors here. How hard is it to get SDCC minimate exclusives. I really want to be able to get one or two packs of the SDCC Battle Beast 2 pack, but I can't make it to the convention. Is there anyway I can get it online or other wise? I certainly wouldn't want to miss out on getting these. Thanks guys!
  22. I love these so far! I don't post much here on this board, I post/read more over at the littlerubberguys board. My screenname over there is koppenschevelle if anyone here is also on that board. I have been collecting Battle Beasts for about 25+ years now. But I am not adverse to seeing a modern take on the concept. I'll be honest, I didn't really know much about minimates, or care to know more about them, until I saw the gator prototype at SDCC 09. After seeing that figure, I immediately started looking up whatever I could about minimates in general. Big thanks to this board as well as the minimate database for all the info you guys have. I was quickly hooked. I was lucky to be able to go to c2e2 saturday and grab myself a promo battle beast and sit in on the panel. The concept art that Zach had looks fantastic. I really loved the look and size of the scorpion and spider, especially with the 4 legs. The snake is great, with his serpentine tail instead of legs. And Gruntos looks great as well. I also met Zack, although I am bit more shy in person, so I didn't talk that much. He just helped me make a minimate. Now I wish I would after seeing how friendly Zach is. I read through the comic book this week, and so far I am liking what I see. It will be interesting to see how the battle beasts/story works out on Earth. But I did really like the story on the other planet. I am wondering if we are going to get to see the battle beasts on their planet, before they came to earth, a bit more like this introductory story. It reminds me a bit of the storyline to Transformers, and in that, we eventually got to see more with the transformers on cybertron. I am hoping we get to see the same thing with the battle beasts, exploring their other planet more in future storylines. Are we going to be able to look forward to most of the characters from the comic being made into figures? I saw that little yellow lizard and loved him. I would love to have him in my collection. (Although the poor thing is a little worse for wear by the end) I am a sucker for any reptilian battle beasts. One aspect that I don't see the battle beasts collectors talking about much at this point is the ability to customize with these battle beasts. Customizing battle beasts has been a pretty big part of the hobby for a lot of members for sometime now. I have been doing customs and repaints of the battle beasts for many years, making many figures for myself, as well as others on the boards. Once I started getting into minimates, I realized how fun and relatively simple it was to swap out heads, armor, feet, etc... to make these figures whatever I wanted. I was so anxious for the battle beast line, that I have already been taking different armored minimates, and giving them a variety of animal or monster heads to make different factions of battle beasts. I am really interested to get my hands on these new battle beasts. I know I'll be getting multiples of every figure, to repaint, sculpt new pieces, swap out parts, to make multiple different characters. Below, I included a couple pictures of some custom battle beasts that I did based off of the old battle beasts, with a bit of sculpting and painting to change them up. I am curious to see what you think. When I can get my hands on an extra Vorin eventually, I plan to sculpt him with a slight beard and change up his armor and gait. I am planning on making him into Vorin's father, who he talks about in the opening of the comic. Anyways, Chuck, Zach and all the rest at DST, as an old battle beast fan, I am really looking forward to this line! Good luck with it. Elder Lion made from Pirate Lion: Gorilla Warfare made from Gargantuan Gorilla Hunter Lion, made from Pirate Lion
  23. Did anyone see the pic Art Asylum posted. There is going to be a red and black Gator Battle Beast included with the Minimates Carrying Case. It's on the site now. http://www.artasylum.com/blog/2010/11/ The colors are a little funky, but still exciting to see a new color scheme for the gator. Eric
  24. I don't own a single minimate yet. But a local comic store has them, and I am considering picking up a pack to see how I like the articulation and construction of the figures. I really like that they have a very wide range of licenses that they cover. I am really hoping though that DST figures out a what to incorporate the fire wood water aspect of Battle Beasts since that was such an integral part of the toyline. It was one of the things that distinguished itself from so many other anthromorphic toy lines of the late 80's. Eric
  25. Hey guys, I am a new member here. I came over from the littlerubberguys board, where my screen name is koppenschevelle. I have been collecting Battle Beasts since I was 4 years old. After only being able to get a few packs when they were released in 86-87, I saw them disappear from stores. After that, I collected other small 2" toylines, hoping to find figures that would match up with my Battle Beasts. I even went so far as to try and make custom figures out of wood pieces and putty, with mixed results. My holy grail was finding the random Battle Beast every so often at a garage sale. About 5 years ago, I found the littlerubberguys forums, which was named beastformers.com back then. I found out their names and about laser beasts, etc... I was able to actually start fully collecting Battle Beasts again. I started making customs with actual battle beasts as the base body, and with a better eye for paint, with fairly good results. I do not have a complete collection yet. I completed my 1-76 battle beast collection, but I still have a few of the laser beasts missing. I have been playing with, customizing and collecting battle beasts for close to 23 years now. So I would say that I am a fairly dedicated battle beast collector. I may have other lines that I love to collect, but if I had to choose just one toyline, it would be Battle Beasts. And with that, let me say that I am THRILLED that they are finally making new battle beasts. We have sort of heard inklings of rumors about a possible rerelease for a couple years now. But nothing really with an substational weight to it. We even saw a concept sketch from a hasbro book made within the past couple years that shows some sort of Hyena battle beasts. But honestly I thought it was mainly just grasping at straws. I never actually believed someone would actually remake Battle Beasts. Of course I would have loved to just see new figures and rereleases in exactly the same style as the original figures, but I don't think that would work. The line needed a fresh edge to them, plus being able to release them along with an existing line means that more people would see them and get interested in them rather than if they were a stand alone line. Initially, I thought that it would be a good idea for Hasbro to release them under their Heroes line, perhaps even as a side to the Robot Heroes of Transformers. Well, this release isn't too far off. Anyways, I love that they are 2". I really don't care about large figures, and while they may not be the same style, atleast they will be the same scale as the previous battle beasts. I also like the armor on that gator. It is a different, new armor design, but still looks like the battle beast styled armor. I also like that they are articulated so well. We have a couple guys on the board that are absolutely fantastic at adding articulation to battle beasts, and they have always been top notch quality and in high demand. I am really interested in seeing what they are going to do with the line. What would be perfect in my eyes is minimates being the main line for Battle Beasts, and if successful enough, down the line small statues of the more popular battle beasts. That would really be something. Oh, and by the way, I pick Delta Chameleon: He was my first battle beast and is still my favorite to this day Eric
