  1. same goes for me, no hard feelings. I love a good debate, and so it seems we have level headed people here. I have been on other forums where people just act like spolied children and arent willing to hear anyone else out. thanks OP for a good topic.
  2. its not as much as its monetary value, but in the vlaue of the item in general (sentimenal, dollar value, rareness, cooleness, whatever...). The $ value of a rare/exclusive/limited (whatever you want to call it) goes hand in hand with its availability regardless of how you want to look at it even if its not your intention to resale it at a later date. For example: "What is your holy grail" thread or "holy grail" in general for that matter. Why is it a "holy grail"? its something that is often sought after due to its "rareness". and due to its "rareness" its often accompanied by a high $ value. I honestly dont think 75% of the people here would keep on collecting minimates if they knew from the start it would be worth less then they bought it for or couldnt atleast get out what they put into it. If you have no consideration for the value of something your simply throwing your money away. It deoesnt mean that you have some hidden side of you thats is a scalper or wants to profit from your "investment" later, but you would expect it to appreciate in value if nothing else stay at the current value. back on topic, I said it in my last post that the manufacturer is giving mixed signals as to what the word exclusive means. if its exclsuive to TRU only, then WHY is the number per box limited???? should they then be called a Limited TRU exclusive? for sake of terminology, they arent being clear of what exactly it is....
  3. I know the meaning of "exclusive". but as TM2 said its often misused/misunderstood. If its strictly a retail location based exclusivity, then why shortpack it???????????? Seems like the manufacturer is sending mixed messages on what an exclusive is. so its not purely me, wanting to have "something not everyone can have". they really should have exclusives just as readily available as any other pack, but call the shortpacks something else. limited editions?
  4. ....Justin Hammer or Battle Damaged Hammer Drone would be a cheaper route ...500 of each. have both of those.
  5. not really looking forward to this wave. Maybe the Torch and posibly Namor. otherwise nothing else appealing to me. and really.....ANOTHER Thing?
  6. personally I love exclusives. Gives me a tingly feeling because I know there is something special about it.... .......except for TRU exclusive Minimates. for me, TRU minimate exclusives are generally just as much of a peg warmer as any other minimate pack out there (dont get me wrong there are exceptions IE: hulkbuster, etc.). I just feel that if its an Exclusive it needs to be a limited number. I think sometimes (myself included) forget that "TRU exclusive" really only means - Sold at TRU and no where else. doesnt really mean a whole heck of a lot about numbers. sure there are shortpacks, doesnt by any means signify the rarity, imo. for example. I live by 2 different TRU's. 1 TRU restocked the HB IM packs 3 seperate times. I was fortunate to be there to find them on 2 occasions. Needless to say I bought 1 pack each time. ( the first time there was only 1 pack and the second time there was 2 packs. At the second tru they only got 1 shipment (so far) of HB IM packs. again, I stopped by there 1 day after they got the shipment and the pegs were fully stocked with 2 packs of the HM IM. There is also something to be said about the charactor. I dont care how "exclusive" it is, if the charactor isnt well received its a peg warmer <caugh>Jim Rhodes-IM2<caugh>. Now thats just for the HB IM. I always see other packs with the TRU Exclusive warming pegs. as an example I went to TRU last night, they had no less then 4 each of the newest IM2 exclusives that had been hanging there for about a week and a half. I also collect mighty muggs. aside from the Punisher/Jigsaw muggs, every other TRU exclusive muggs sat on the shelf (now they are only sold exclusively at TRU so it doesnt make much of a difference now anyway). But for the sake of argueing I do believe TRU exclusive are important but at the same time, I feel that they need to have some kind of more important meaning to get slapped with the shiny round sticker. otherwise they are no better then any other "non-exclusive" sold there. in regards to exclusive, I was very mad that the SDCC exclusives were sold online in large numbers. I was hoping for them to be "rare" so I can personally be part of a special club of owners. but instead everyone and there brother gets a chance to purchase one so there is essentially nothing exclusive about it. I wish they would make more minimates in limited production runs...IE numbered. The you have yourself and exclusive. .02
  7. sweet, wonder when the comic shop versions are coming in?
  8. I am not saying there is a definitive price for mates but thought maybe there is a small range. For mighty muggs I am used to seeing $40 all the way up to $100. I consider $40-$50 reasonable for a custom mugg. Obviously with more time spent and what not, your going to pay more for something extra special. I just haven ot seen anywhere around here people mentioning prices for customs. just didnt want to get sticker shock if I pm'd someone and saw something I feel is too high, and didnt want to offend anyone either.
  9. Just curious if I were to have a custom made by one of the fabulous customizers on here what I would expect to pay.
  10. Nice! I jailbroke my ipod touch last year. best thing I ever did with it. I have not yet done it with my iPhone. maybe once I am out of warranty with it.
  11. today is what I like to call "Beer Friday". I have about 10 cold ones waiting for me when I get home from work. my weekly ritual.
  12. Ninja's are just awesome. and the image came from some sushi I got at a grocery store. I peeled it off and scanned it. Hai-YA!
  13. You took this picture Friday at the TRU by Greenwood Park Mall, didn't you? Why yes, yes I did.
  14. I decided to place an order and see what happened....well what happened was exactly what was supposed to happen placed my order through the kung faux website on July 30th, 2010 at 11:44 am. I received order confirmation email immediatly after placing the order. I received a shipping confirmation at 5:30 pm the same day with a tracking number. I received my order today (3 days later) on Aug 2nd, 2010, Everything came wrapped in a FedEx bag and then placed in a priority envelope. Also 4 postcard things were included. all is well. edit: got an email this morning from tommyboy entitled: "BooYah ! - Your Kung Faux : Break Boy - Action Figgaz have been DELIVERED." LOL....they have a sense of humor. nice.
  15. thanks for all the birthday wishes! This doesnt seem over flow as there was only 1 box of mates in the regular pegs. everything else was here. Happy Birthday MTD!
  16. If you're talking about Castleton, then they actually did do this a couple weeks back. I think it's just because they were running out of room for Thor/Lokis and IM/Crimson Dynamos. And happy birthday-as your gift, we're all going to tell you how wrong/behind the times you are. lol...yup thats the one, its been about 2 weeks since I have been there. so now that I am behind the times I can officially use words like "youngins" & "hipsters"
  17. well....its news to me. I frequent 2 different TRU's. the one closest to me just did this less than a week ago. the other still does not have this...
  18. so I was at my local TRU the other day and they had a new location to hang minimates. yay! another place to look.
  19. Oh cool, thanks TBT! btw: dont google "Create-a-Mate". its not minimates....well the toys atleast.
