  1. Bucky Cap actually has a cutout mask, it seems, in the Age of Heroes set. Thor gets a new flight stand. But boy did they cut corners on Iron Man. Helmet + blank Minimate. No fat heads on Spidey this time? And it looks like we get a human Ben Grimm underneath one of the Things, unless I miss my guess about the guy in the orange jumpsuit. Seems that Armored Cap, Frozen Cap, WWII Cap, and regular Cap won the TRU thing. Who were the two that lost? US Agent Cap and who else? Warpath comes with character specific knives! DST cannot spell Apocalypse. And that box set is available at NYCC.
  2. Personally, I like how he used the wrong image.
  3. Sadly the Minimate-starved people of the US tend to get overlooked by organizations like this in favor of the much better marketed Minimate-starved children overseas.
  4. Won my ebay auction, so hopefully I'll have mine soon enough. I think the seller is a member here, so the price was reasonable.
  5. I might even be able to find the time and inspiration with that kind of time table.
  6. Wonder if it would be possible to create an official ebay account for the Multiverse, so in the future you could bid on your own auctions. Probably more effort than it would be worth.
  7. I highly enjoyed it. I can't believe it was his sled.
  8. To be honest, even when they don't reply, dealing with DST's customer service is a thousand times better than dealing with TRU's customer service.
  9. Nothing in eastern NC yet. GB series 4 has been restocked, but no sign of anything Marvel, be it Iron Man 2 or these. Plenty of Wolverine/Captain Americas though. Looks like eBay for me. Hopefully the auction I have my sights on doesn't turn sour in the final hours.
  10. Just finished Lego Harry Potter (my first platinum trophy!) and now I'm juggling Mass Effect (PC) and the Marvel levels on Little Big Planet.
  11. Good job and congratulations! I still don't know what my chosen field is.
  12. That's always bugged me. Even with the short-packed variants, the comic shop release tried to balance the sets as best they could (and the god cases make that even easier). But they're short-packing the exclusives, which are the only ones people seem to be hunting for, since we can get the non-exclusives from the comic shops or from the online retailers that we preordered them from months ago. So, you end up with more sets sitting on shelves than necessary, which results in slowdown of getting the next case on a shelf, which in turn suggests lower sales. If they made the case distribution even, or better yet have the exclusives dominate the cases, then they'd probably get it off the shelves faster since there would be fewer redundant sets clogging up the system. But that makes sense to me, so that probably wouldn't work from a retailer perspective.
  13. It worries me that I was able to find GB series 4 easily in my store, but still no sign of Marvel series 7, which came out first, right? Should I also be concerned that I was able to buy the Ghost Busters from my store, yet still haven't received any sort of shipping confirmation for the ones I preordered from their website so many moons ago? I think I'd like this whole TRU deal more if they were at least consistent in their shittiness, as opposed to getting some sets on shelves right away and taking upwards to two months for others to finally trickle into stores, or getting some sets for preorder online (and actually shipping them relatively soon after release) and others you have to keep clicking refresh to catch them as soon as they pop up so as not to miss out when they sell out not 10 minutes later.
  14. I'm in the East and I haven't found these yet. Of course, my store sucks, so that might make a difference.
  15. The non-Marvel Minimates tend to go up for preorder on the TRU site, but the Marvel ones just tend to show up whenever, and vanish almost as quickly. And these aren't on shelves in eastern NC yet. Full peg of series 6, but no sign of 7 yet. Full peg of GB series 3 also. And we've almost gotten rid of all the Wolverine and BSG sets too!
  16. Pity they couldn't give us some regular hands and feet to make another Iron Man armor from what was underneath the Hulkbuster version. Oh well, with all the extras I have laying around, I'm sure I can cobble something together, though I doubt it'll be comic accurate of anything. I do hope these show up in my area. We've recently restocked wave 6 though, so it might take a while. Edit: Direct links to the pics, for those who can't access the boards: Stilt-Man Packaging Packaging Interior Hulk, Iron Man, Lockjaw, Betsy Hulk, Iron Man, Lockjaw, Betsy alternate look
  17. I watched the second Negima series, and my head still hurts. It's like someone chopped the manga up into a fine powder, snorted it, and this is the drug-fueled outcome.
  18. They do make for memorable moments, its just frustrating when you're trying to do something else and the game seems to go out of its way to kill you. If I was actively trying to hunt animals, that's fun. When I'm just trying to ride from point A to point B, its annoying. And I know you can save at camp, but I'm not saving in the middle of a pack of cougars. (is pack the right word? pride of cougars? gaggle?)
  19. I know you are playing on PS3 and I'm playing on 360 but I don't think I've ever seen more than 2 Cougars together at once. Wolves, Coyotes & Boar in packs for sure but they are easily dealt with. Bears tend to be in long chains rather than bunched, if you are carefull and look for them then you can take the out one at a time without issues. T. Bears are like velociraptors in my game. I had to kill one with a knife for the hunter challenge, so I spot one just standing around and go after it. It basically leads me into an ambush where two bear attacked me from both sides and killed me. Then there was the time that one performed a stealth kill on me after I had downed an elk. And the cougars are pack hunters in my game. I spotted one guy on foot with a man riding away on a horse, expecting it to be a "help, that guy stole my horse" moment (again), but when I got closer, I saw a dead horse, followed by a cougar totally killing that guy. I gun down the cougar and hop down to loot the corpses, only to have cougar after cougar attack me. After downing a good 8 or 9 of them, never having a chance to get back to my horse, they finally took me down. I don't know if these are glitches, PS3 "exclusives", or something else, but it definitely adds an element of fear to the game, since traveling through these areas does not leave me much assurance that I can make it to a town to save the game.
  20. I think you misunderstand what I was saying. I'm perfectly fine with riding around shooting the cuddly animals, I was saying that they need to work on the aggression somewhat. There are parts of the map that you just can't ride through, since the horses are too delicate to withstand more than a hit from the cougars, which hunt in rather large packs and aren't the least bit deterred by 6 or 7 of their friends being obliterated by the buffalo rifle. The only reason I found the random encounters tedious was because there are only so many written for the game. If there was an infinite amount of them, or if they played out slightly different, then it would be one thing. But every time someone runs up asking for a ride, they're going to steal your horse. Every time a woman next to a broken down carriage asks for help, bandits (which you can usually see crouched down in plain view) will pop up and shoot. Every time I ride through Thieves Landing, a woman is being kidnapped. Mix it up a bit. Maybe next time someone runs up complaining that their wife has been kidnapped, she won't be swinging from a rope when I get there. Maybe next time there's a robbery, it is a gang on horseback who robbed a bank, rather than a man on foot who robbed a store. And yeah, as someone who has played a lot of Rockstar Games (particularly the GTA ones), I can say that the plot elements are pretty similar. The past few games have had you playing the role of someone with a dark past who is trying to redeem themselves. Risk to family will rope you into working on a task that is more suited to your former life. At some point, you find yourself working on opposite sides of the same conflict. At least one of your mission givers will betray you. In the end, the person you're working for will seem as evil if not more evil than the person you're working against. All that being said, I've enjoyed the games. They're just repetitive.
  21. I'm nearing the end of Red Dead Redemption. Maybe they can dial back the animals a bit in the next one. There are parts of the map that I don't want to go because of it, and I can't tell if its intentional or glitches regarding spawn points, but I've never heard of a pack of a half dozen bears attacking a single person before, and was unaware that cougars attacked in small armies. Speaking of dialing back, the random encounters could probably happen a little less frequently. You ride out to pick a couple flowers for the survivalist stuff, and end up killing a pack of wolves, saving a woman from being hung, stop a horse thief, and run into an ambush, all along the same stretch of road. I know it keeps the game interesting, but its like the substitute cellphone from GTA4. Sometimes you just want to do your own thing without being hassled every 5 seconds. Probably wouldn't hurt to bring in a few new writers for the scenarios a bit, since some of the general plot mirrors just about every GTA game since GTA3. Finally, a few more choices wouldn't be a bad thing either. You can play as a villain or a hero, but the storyline pretty much only plays out as a hero. Maybe you can have the choice of helping the Mexican army or the Rebels. Maybe have a few alternate ideas on how to get into Fort Mercer. Maybe have a branching story where you can be the hero riding into town to round up the badguys, or be the villain who is building a gang to rule the frontier. It would probably increase the replay factor, but I guess most games now rely on multiplayer to keep the game interesting.
  22. Just keep a positive outlook and confidence in the outcome. That can really make a difference. You'll be in my thoughts and prayers.
