  1. It looks to me like they're doing the same thing with her as with Bats and Harley Quinn; mask piece that fits over the entire head with no cutout for the mouth
  2. If you're looking for cheap skrulls, the Tower here in Vegas (apparently a flagship store) has been clearancing a lot of toys from other stores at 80% off. Last week, I saw a huge box full of skrull sets marked down. How many are you after, exactly?
  3. Are they moving to a new hand style, or are the hands on Beast, Juggy and Storm just different because they have extra sculpted details? They look a lot more rounded, and have a distinct thumb; definitely a step away from the traditional minimates "claw" shape.
  4. Agreed. Then we could have had translucent chase figs (ice Bobby/phasing Kitty). Ooooohh. I though that was Magneto. Storm makes sense, though. Dangit, now I'm going to have to make a movie Cyclops custom.
  5. These characters are fine with me; I'm all about the new sculpts at this point. I just wish we could see some new stuff in hand. I am fully confident they have designers working diligently to create new concept art and prototypes for dozens of lines that will get us super-dooper excited. I'm just getting a little weary of the "here are brand new sculpts you may see at some point in the future, but in the meantime, repaints!" routine.
  6. Just saw a post on AA the boards referencing a new item on Diamond's site: Marvel wave 14 seems to be the the X3 wave. They only show the backs (Marvel mates are back, get it? get it?), but it looks like we're getting some new sculpts... http://www.diamondselecttoys.com/ "This winter," eh? Someone remind me: does winter officially end in July or August?
  7. I am totally on board with anyone who wants to make a complete lineup of every Megaman boss.
  8. Yeah, but at least they used to every now and then release something to distract us from the lack of communication. Something like this?
  9. At this point, is it really a question of whether a second wave will get made? As I understand it, production decisions are made pretty far in advance and aren't really something where they'd "wait and see" how the four-packs do. Are the four-packs really just a way to clear out inventory or try to recoup the cost of old molds?
  10. I wonder if the final version of Batman will have a new cape, or the same C3 parts shown here. They redid Supes' cape and hair, so I'm kind of surprised they didn't touch Bats.
  11. Nice. So I guess that means we'll se the first waves of BSG and DC mates, what, February 2008?
  12. I thought I read something about the cylons yesterday that indicated a larger scale than Marvel and DC mates? Are they just making the modern cylons taller, or are they aiming for compatibility with the old Trek mates?
  13. Good question. I honestly didn't notice. I have about three spare Profs already, so I just grabbed Colossus/Crawler and Storm/Cyke.
  14. Just stopped by Target and found two packs of Mates from the GSXM box set: Colossus and Nightcrawler Cyclops and Storm As well as Dark Phoenix and Prof X Didn't see any of the Wolvie/Iceman pairing, and I assume them putting Thunderbird back out there is doubtful. Looks like this is our "X3" wave... Anyway, a good chance to catch up on some rarer Mates.
  15. What kills me is that they pulled the plug two weeks before the release date. How could they have gotten that close without knowing there was a problem that would require resolicitation? Did a factory burn down? Did a ship sink? Aliens? Dimensional vortex? What?!? I wonder if the initial solicitation was a "toe in the water" kind of thing to gauge interest, and they never had any intention of releasing them this year.
  16. It's not that they were bad in themselves, I'm really just looking for Mates with more customizing potential. For every one I buy to keep, I buy two more for what else I can do with their parts. The accessories are really what make Minimates so great to me. So, for the Speed Racer mates to have no extra parts at all (c'mon guys, would helmets really have broken the bank? A neckerchief, even?), and after seeing three waves of Marvel mates with rehashed parts, it was just kind of a disappointment.
  17. There's only one thing that's going to satisfy my Minimate hunger. And DC is keeping mum about them. >
  18. Glad you finally found them. It was kind of a letdown when I saw them, too. "Ooo ooo ooo, finally, new Minimates... um... oh... that's it?"
  19. The title makes sense to me now... I'm Lobsterman, longtime lurker, first time etc. I'm not the legendary Crayfish if you're wondering, but I'd be happy to borrow his street cred.
  20. Sorry, I'm afraid not. I didn't know there was an "interoduce yourself" forum...
  21. I went back and checked tonight; there are plenty of Speed and Racer X minis in my neck of the woods, six or seven of each. Let me know if you still need one.
  22. Murder– I just saw some earlier this week at TRU. I'd be happy to see it they're still there and pick up a set for you.
  23. Nice work! I was thinking of doing the same thing to hulk, as well as taking on the slightly more ambitious Thing. Did you scratch-sculpt each of the hairpieces, or did you make one, then create a mold for resin castings?
  24. Yeah, I hope not, too. But, we already know about battle damaged variants for Supes and Bats. (Sniff sniff) Do I smell a "heat vision" variant, an Earth 2 variant and the super-special chase Kingdom Come variant? As distasteful as the idea is to us, it would make total sense to boost sales on these with a minimum of one variant/chase they could inexpensively tampo for every character they've shown...
