  1. Not quite what I meant, but *when* we finally get him, I feel like he'll only look "right" if he's made with blue plastic, perhaps with black painted highlights. I feel it's only a matter of time before we get the bulk of the missing Avengers, with the only two least-likely candidates being Moondragon and Dr Druid. Tigra, Black Knight, Mockingbird all seem to me like they will get made eventually.
  2. I heard Cheryl Tunt's voice when you said "amahzing!" SO, is this confirmation that Wave 54 is going to be a Captain America wave??
  3. Black Knight. From the pictures looks more like he should be called Blue Knight.
  4. Neither am I. And I'd hate to have a single army builder in a boxed set. She was an individual, not an army builder.
  5. Savin is well covered by the head with Iron Patriot, and any business suit (Expendables? Kilian's suit?), so I'd hate to see another slot used for Savin. I'd rather see the female Extremis soldier in his place.
  6. I think Zach has already tempered our expectations about Igor. I'm not holding my breath.
  7. 1) You, me, and everyone else not related to Mark Leonard 2) I liked your list. The next Picard minimate MUST be Locutus! 3) AMEN!!! 4) Yes Please! Mini-Horta! While I'd love to see more box sets as well, I'm not going to 100% sweat it because we are getting 16 figures/wave between LCS & TRU. But damn, it would be a great place to put 1 "Dr Druid" in with 3 winners! Theme it to specific episodes and go nuts City on the Edge of Forever - Kirk & Spock in civilian clothes, Edith Keeler, and McCoy with alt screaming diseased face! Make the package background a clear photo of the Guardian. (maybe not the best retail seller unless they include pieces for the iconic Kirk & Spock uniforms) Tholian Web - Standard Space suit with any other crewmember (Spock?), a "Phasing" half-painted on translucent plastic Kirk in Space Suit (so 2 suits in a 4-pack to spread out costs), and 2 crewmembers in their bridge uniforms (Scotty & Chekov) - a very colorful presentation on package Best of Both Worlds - Locutus!, Shelby (maybe alternate Ro head?), Riker & Guinan Q-Pid - Q as sheriff, Picard as Robin Hood, Vash as Maid Marion, Data as Friar Tuck (then finish the crew in the 2-packs, or do another 4-pack with Riker, Worf, Geordi & Troi then work Crusher into a 2-pack)
  8. So you elevated the head a bit over the neck post? Looks great!
  9. The box set is going to be: Don Cheadle in Polo shirt Harley the genius kid TV broadcaster guy with Stark tattoo Lady from bar with file folder Pepper in business suit (not the sports bra you want) J/K ! Seriously, I think I'd only be disappointed if we don't get Killian with tatooed chest. Any more armor is a bonus, I think they covered it pretty well.
  10. As for Series 3, it's incredibly comforting to know DST recognizes the shortcomings of that wave (who needs 2 Sareks?) A Sarek head could always be used for the Romulan Commander from "Balance of Terror", and with a bit of work a Klingon Captain (ST:TMP) and the elder Sarek (movies & TNG). Mark Lenard was all over the Star Trek universe I get what you're saying, but we're still the minority. The majority of buyers didn't want two Sareks. He's one that you should choose to buy extras of, not be forced into it if you want a full set. Wave three would have done better if the variant were packed with the Klingon. (I can use my extras, but I didn't *need* them)
  11. Sorry, I forget that. So many of us here buy multiples for alternate looks that it seems weird that the majority do not. As for Reed & Tucker, they're a perfect example of needing an alternate head, since there don't need to be many Enterprise 2 packs anyway. I think the only non-crewmember I want from Enterprise is Shran the Andorian anyway, and that's mostly for customizing. No hurry on that Enterprise crew, I think a sharpie on the stripes will work in a pinch for us. As for Series 3, it's incredibly comforting to know DST recognizes the shortcomings of that wave (who needs 2 Sareks?)
  12. I hope we get Werewolf Captain America one day. Before wave 100 is fine. I'd love to see the control art. I voted for him, as I think it'd be a visually striking minimate. As for army-builder, if it were a Cap wave, then I'd guess Hydra soldier update to fight all the Shield soldiers we've gotten lately. I'd love AIM soldiers too, I never bought enough the first time
  13. Zach, thanks again for taking the time to answer questions for us. I kind of assumed if the line continued we'd get "anchors" of at least 1 Captain per wave (or Spock). I know Kirk is still the face of Star Trek to the world at large. I love that you gave us a different look for the TWOK movie Kirk. What I remember of the first Trek MM line, was that series 1 & 2 sold incredibly well. It was focused only on the TOS crew and covered them all in 2 waves. Then came wave 3, which is the one wave I find still more frequently for sale than any other. Then wave 4 which finally branched out of TOS into one TNG pack, which at the time sold phenomenally well, as did wave 5's DS9 pack. People were complaining at the time about Kirk & Spock fatigue, which is understandable, but the variations were still very similar in terms of color, and we weren't getting the really visually interesting variations with rare exceptions. One problem the original line had was the aliens only came one per wave (not counting the crew here). And the army builder ones only came once with the variant. I think you guys knocked it out of the park with Legacy wave 1. Maybe a few characters or looks I would have switched out, but I love what I see. Now, the Captains are the face of each show, so it's fair that both Specialty and TRU each get a full assortment of Captains. So now, I think going forward, there doesn't need to be duplicated characters across each market. So if TRU gets Riker, then specialty can get Data for their TNG pack that wave. Because if it continues with 2 variations of the same crew each wave, that'll get old fast and I think will really hurt sales. Like what you did with your Enterprise & Voyager packs for wave 1, I love the distribution between markets and think that'll do well. Because casual Trek fans won't feel the need to buy 2 Rikers at once, and so on especially once we get to the "Dr Druid" level characters So then, if we're not beholden to copying characters across TRU & Specialty in the same wave, then we're open for more "Anchors". I'm okay with and have come to expect to see the "Anchors" like Kirk & Spock, I just want them a bit more visually interesting than the variation of color uniform that we got the first go-around. Tholian Web Kirk is an excellent idea - it's not been made, it's visually striking, and it's a suit worn by multiple members so the customizing community would buy extras. I would forego extra heads for sure if it mean getting new sculpts like a space suit helmet! But the important thing I personally want to stress is that I feel people are starved for STTNG and other show merchandise. It's been the TOS / Kirk & Spock show for a long, long time (deservedly so). But every show has "their" audience - each show was someone's first Star Trek show. I'm stoked that this Legacy line incorporates every TV show & the TOS & TNG movies. And I like that wave 1 has something for everyone. I don't feel like Kirk & Spock have to anchor everything anymore. So feel free to use TNG to anchor once in awhile, and put Kirk & Spock in their visually interesting (but not as immediately recognizable to the casual person) outfits like the Tholian Web suits, gangster suits or anything non-Starfleet. If DST continues like they started with Legacy wave 1 and we get at least 4-5 waves, I think there'll be a lot of happy Trek fans. I can't wait to see what's next!
  14. I figured it was a long shot asking for main crew. But with Zach not hopeful we'd get to the entire Enterprise or Voyager crew (DS9 too?), then this is a great idea. It would definitely help sales! But I think I'd asked in a AskDST (maybe I'm remembering from MMMV instead) about lesser crew second heads, like Ro & Shelby or Barclay and that was met pretty well. Honestly, the thought that rushing the main crews out might HURT future sales makes as much sense (to me) as saying the same about releasing Wolverine, Spiderman, Cap & Hulk too soon - look at how many refreshes we have! One easy variation to do in the future is Yesterdays Enterprise crew - it's the same outfit mainly with a new belt. A good way to get future refreshes of core looks with removable parts for alternate looks. And the shows are full of them! As I've said before, *whatever* is best for sales! I'm down for whatever they sell us. But I know I'm not enough to carry the full line. I hope they plan on giving us multiple waves, and I'll be there to buy a case or more of each one. As long as the TNG crew gets made in their season 3-ish iconic TV uniforms, I'm happy. And I really hope DS9 gets completed too. As a completionist, I also want to see the full Voyager & Enterprise crew too, but again, Zach seemed less than optimistic. Even after the crews, there's tons of aliens and characters I want to see. So we really have a ways to go to see everything on most people's wishlists get made. IF Worf has a removable baldric, then how many people are army-building Jem Hadar? That Sisko would then be qc'ed into First Contact Worf, which frees up a slot for another character. So, if they do a main character pack of say Worf & Data, then extra Barclay & maybe O'Brien heads would be great! Because what's Barclay's chances of a standalone pack? Plus, I really want to get the hardest to customize pieces made before the line ends. That includes (besides aliens) Troi's hairpiece, Worf's head & sash, Geordi's Visor, Data, Quark's Ferengi ears, Jadzia's hairpiece, O'Brien's hairpiece, Tuvok & T'Pol's hairpieces, and lower on my list but not others - Neelix & Phlox. Anything else, while I'd always prefer a production piece, can be customized with a decal and a pre-made part (Riker, Wesley, other crewmembers). In fact, I've mentioned Merriweather before, and seeing the new pics of Archer, I don't even see the captains "bars" on the chest, so he's an easy QC with IM3's Rhodey (since, you know, it came with an extra head!) Extra pieces really help sales. And I hope all this doom & gloom is for nothing - I'd love to hear at SDCC that DST has more long-term goals for Star Trek Minimates!
  15. did you paint the movie Mandarin's hair piece black? Looks good.
  16. I agree, it just seems like Vision's name comes up a lot, so he fits the "most requested" criteria, even if the mate itself still holds up. Wasp would be great, since she has so many looks anyway. Quicksilver - yeah, I'd love to see him in his Brotherhood look. Maybe that can be the variant to keep a slot available to another character in a Brotherhood 4-pack?
  17. Is it me, or did DST miss out by not having the screaming second Kirk head visible from the package? There will be people not aware of this series at all that will come across them and this I feel is a huge tipping-point for anyone on the fence about buying it. Also: No tray shots of the TRU wave?? And only Janeway/Seven has the silver TRU sticker?
  18. See, it's interesting you posted about Trek in Dec 2012, because the new art sheets on DST's FB page state they were finalized in Oct 2012. So, how many other items from our wishlisting exist as concept art awaiting production Does anyone else notice a pattern to what DST makes? It seems like for a lot of licenses NOT having an active movie come out, they stagger those every few years. (Aliens, Terminator, Ghostbusters, BTTF). We don't get a lot of the independent box sets like we used to unless there's a movie project out (Expendables), but no more one-and-done for classic movies (Platoon), although we do get the occasional TV series project (upcoming Lost in Space, Munsters car, KITT) when DST wants to make other projects. SO when it comes to vintage licenses, we get them when there's ancillary products DST wants to make (die-cast cars & LiS Robot or vinyl banks), or if they can do multiple waves of minimates, or of course the current movie projects. And of course it's all dependent upon the reasonableness of the license-owner for costs. I think DST has their own internal wishlist of licenses they hope to pursue. And what would things have been like if they gave us everything at once, such as Ghostbusters, Aliens, T2 & BTTF all in the same year along with Marvel and the usual movie projects? We would likely not have had the same depth of range as we get when they're spread out. DST intentionally (wisely) spreads them out to do the licenses justice, and to keep us and them from going broke, along with giving us stuff to look forward to in the future. All that being said, I think a lot of things on this thread have a good chance of being made if they can fit the criteria I mentioned. Here's what I see having a good chance of being made eventually: Predator - I count this as a 100% sure thing once Aliens is finished. I do expect Aliens to expand into Alien and A3 & A4 as well. Predator will likely be based on multiple movies due to the different Predator designs, but I'd be shocked if we never get a minimate Predator in some form one day. Robocop - especially with the new movie coming, I see it as likely, even if it's just a "vehicle" pack of ED-209 with Robocop mate. LOTR & Hobbit - If it doesn't happen in the next decade, I'll be shocked. I believe it's all tied in to cost of the license, because as far as waves of minimates, this would outlast every movie property we've gotten so far. This will be an Evergreen license in that someone, somewhere will be making stuff for it for a long time and in cycles, and fits all the minimate criteria. Hoping the party gets started soon with Hobbit 2 coming this year. Army of Darkness (Evil Dead): With a sequel with The Man Bruce Campell coming, it has a greater chance of happening sooner. The only thing I think preventing it is other toy companies sitting on a master-license (not sure if that's the case or not). But this line even without the movie meets all the criteria - Monsters, Cult Classic, and extremely Toy-etic. But most importantly, the license holder has been quite agressive on licensing it out (see the multiple home video releases alone). Another line I give a near 100% chance of happening in the next decade. Forbidden Planet: Once they've sold out robot B9 from LiS, I imagine at some point one day they'll look to doing Robbie the Robot. That sucker's been licensed so many times over the past several decades, I guess it's only a matter of time before DST gets their shot. Again, based on license cost. And I don't see them wanting the two robots to compete at retail. But I'd love a box set (preferrably two) and a Robbie with his "car" vehicle minimate release. A-Team - similar to KITT, I can see DST wanting to do a diecast, and hopefully a minimate vehicle and team 4-pack. Totally dependant on the cost of the license and if DST thinks it's worth their time. Shame it didn't happen with the recent movie. I'd give it maybe a 50% chance. (with 100% chance I'd buy them all ) Planet of the Apes (Classic) - the granddaddy of licensed products. Basically up to DST if they think it's worth it to them to pursue. It could last multiple waves similar to GB, T2, BTTF & aliens, has the same cult following factor (maybe not as strong), but to me they seem incredibly toy-etic. Another movie is coming soon. Star Wars & Indiana Jones: Yeah right. This topic has been almost beaten to death. SW has too many licensees. We all know DST wants to make them. As for Indy, I think Hasbro is actually sitting on the main license and just waiting for it to expire. Sad too, because I think I'd be far more excited at this point for Indy minimates over Star Wars (love SW, just merchandised to death!). MAYBE, and that's a huge maybe, Indiana Jones *could* happen one day, as it's the perfect fit for minimates and the character selection would beat any Indy line ever done. I think Indy is a matter of cost. IF they get the costs ironed out, an Indiana Jones line would be a slam-dunk home run. Every collection deserves a minimate Indy and Mola Ram! I'd actually like to see DST just aggressively go after the Indiana Jones license alone, since SW is just a mess. Universal Monsters: another Evergreen property, with different stuff made every year. Maybe, just maybe after they've been off the shelves for 10 years or so they might try this again, hopefully with a different approach, more accessories, and preferrably more mixing & matching besides only two movies/year. But someone, somewhere is selling UM merchandise every year. I really hope DST gives it another go around some day. Monsters sell. Every other limited merchandise movie: I'd love to see a Movie Maniacs - style offering some day similar to the Playstation wave where each pack is from a different property. Maybe a mix & match of different genres (Sci-Fi, Horror, Cult Classics, etc) so you can get out designs like Freddy Krueger, Jason, Leatherface, Gort, Chucky, etc. (maybe even some of those Universal Monster movies that don't need a 4-pack like Invisible Man, Metaluna Alien, Mole People and Lon Chaney Phantom) This would also be an awesome way to do the CBS TV properties DST already has the license to, and do a TV wave mixing in a Twilight Zone 2-pack, Munsters 2-pack, Gilligan & Skipper, etc, basically anything that couldn't be licensed on it's own. (Munsters don't seem to be able to get their own 4-pack, so spread the remaining family over a few waves of a series like this, similar to having a Twilight Zone 2-pack over a few waves) and whatever Lost in Space remains after whatever we do get (since they've only shown us 2 figures and haven't told us their full plans). This is all dependent on licenising and costs (hopefully not too much of a nightmare!) But for a Horror-themed line, it would be easy to do the scarier/bloodier variants at specialty. Make Freddy w/ victim, Jason w/victim, etc to keep each 2-pack a seperate license.
  19. They've already confirmed they will be completed with the Thor 2 minimates, so I'm really thrilled about that. But a comic-styled Volstagg would be EPIC! And if my Thor wishlist doesn't meet the wave 54 criteria, I would be suitably okay with it being pushed to wave 55 What's exciting is that every one of us could plan out an epic wave or more of all-new never made minimates for every corner of the Marvel Universe (more if we include necessary updates on pre-existing mates). From FF, Spidey, X-Men, Thor, Daredevil, Iron Man, Avengers, Captain America, Cosmic, Mystic, etc. We're discussing wave 54 and there's no sound or barrel-scraping anywhere to be heard for another decade! (and in another decade, imagine how many more movies, costumes & storylines there will be!) I could honestly see myself collecting Marvel Minimates for the next 30+ years. Sorry for the Wall O' Text, but just the mention of more items checked off my wishlist gets me excited and happy to be a Minimate collector
  20. SO excited to be scratching items off my wishlist!!! SDCC can't come fast enough! Not just for Marvel but to see Aliens and everything else as well. I always appreciate the updates and new looks, but fleshing out my rosters with unmade characters is what always excites me the most. Even the most boring-on-paper sounding character has been knocked out of the park by DST - seriously, Puppet Master is one of my absolute favorites so far this year! Whodathunkit? I feel like I should have my paychecks direct-deposited to DST. Now, for the obligatory wishlisting. I've posted my list here already, but there's a few themes I'd love to see fleshed out further: Inhumans and more Thor supporting cast (Asgardians), as well as the completion of X-Force (Siryn & Stryfe especially)
  21. I totally agree. In fact, I wouldn't call them "highly requested" updates, I'm happy with what we recently got. I'd much prefer 2 all new Avengers, but for updates, Quicksilver is at the top for needs, as is Vision.
  22. So, if it's only TWO from the polls, that's either our Falcon/Winter Soldier pack OR Banshee and another poll choice character. Unless we're talking this wave only, and there's more poll "losers" in the TRU waves Also, whatever happened to all the Thor supporting cast? Around the first movie, we got Balder, Beta Ray Bill & Sif, Fear Itself got us Odin, so where's our comic-version Warrior Three? For a Thor-themed wave, I'd love to see Fandrall & Hogun Volstagg & Thor (with Thor-Frog scale PVC similar to Lockheed) Enchantress & Executioner Surtur (variant is Heimdall) with Frost Giant or eliminate the army builder and make them two SDCC four-packs! Yes, of course I want the Wrecking Crew and others, but I want more Asgardians for a separate display.
  23. Is it me, or does that Scarlet Witch body look like a good upgrade for X3 Movie Jean Grey?
  24. Also, DST has been very up front about their desire NOT to do variants. It actually hurt wave 3 with 2 Sareks to 1 Spock & Variant Spock, most buyers didn't want two Sareks. Extra Heads Scenario: Worf & Geordi, Crusher & Troi by buying 2 packs Variants Scenario: Worf or Geordi with 2 Crushers, for example. If you did both figures as variants, then thats an entirely new pack and messes up the case ratio alltogether.
