  1. Honest to god... I don't need Luis at all. I have a severe dislike of extraneous civilian minimates. Especially MCU Civilians. I think a few headline civilians from the comics is fun. I certainly wouldn't say no to MJ or J. Jonah, nor would I sneeze at a Moira MacTaggert. But "Ant-Man's buddy Luis" is not a priority for me. Nor is Ned from Spider-Man Homecoming for that matter. Nor are half the civilian minimates we already got in past movie waves just to fill them out. Added some much appreciated humor to the movie to be sure... still not someone I need to own a toy of. In this or any other line.
  2. Yeah, I used to try to sort my Symbiotes by character... IE. I'd keep my brock's together, but I'd put my "Dark" Black spidey and my Gargan Venom with my Scorpion. I put Flash Venom with my other Spidey Allies, rather than villains... Eventually it got too difficult to keep track of, so I just put all my Symbiotes into their own section, haha. It now has all the Venoms, Anti-Venoms, Carnages and even the Dark Spidey. the only two I didn't put in there are Black Costume Peter Parkers and the Venom Wolverine mate. Those I kept w/ the other Spideys & Wolvies. ALL THAT SAID... The Symbiote section of my boxes doesn't hold a candle to my Wolverines, haha. Iron Man, Spider-Man & Wolverine are by far the three biggest sections. Thor, Hulk & Cap are getting there, but still a far cry from those three. I think Spidey actually has the highest overall count, but most of his minimates are actually very small, with no extraneous parts, so he takes up less overall space. Iron Man however has TONS of extra parts, so he takes up TONS of extra space. I actually divided Iron Man up into his own subsections, the Iron Man compartment of my box got too massively overgrown, so I parsed it into several smaller ones. I made one for Movie Iron Men, one for Cartoon Iron Men, one for Comic Book Iron Men, One for Tony Starks exclusively, And one for "Iron Men who aren't Iron Man" (this one is mostly Rhodey, but also has Rescue and Ironheart, for instance). If anyone has a giant Iron Man section, I suggest subdividing it, lol.
  3. I mean... I feel like we're going to see a lot of repeat thoughts here, and I agree with most, if not all of them. Anything from the first 20 waves or so that hasn't already been updated really is a candidate. I think the older generally, the more necessary. I kinda disagree with the sentiment that the classic Fantastic Four need an update, because to me... the modern Fantastic Four Waves we got were fine. BUT if I were a huge FF nerd, I suppose I'd be right there with you. I understand where the requests come from, I just personally don't need them. We have decent quality versions of the FF. We don't have decent quality versions of characters like Firestar or Spider-Woman. To pluck a few names from my own personal list of desires (that is to say, the X-Men I think need an update most)... Polaris and Classic "Death" Archangel from Wave 19/20 could both use an update. But they're both right on the cusp... this was basically the turning point, imo, where minimates started to get more detailed. they're not quite up to modern standards, but they're nowhere near as bad as Firestar. Cloak and Dagger are a pair right on the cusp as well. They're not bad, but they could be better. I honestly think Bishop and Jubilee's 90s looks could use an update. This isn't me saying, "they're too hard to find/expensive" I genuinely think these two weren't done to their full potential... they were mates that got designed on the cheap for parts re-use. They're not up to scratch with most other mates for their time. (Bishop moreso than Jubilee. Jubilee admittedly can be improved A LOT with parts swaps from Strike Force, quite easily) But If I'm answering who needs it the ABSOLUTE MOST: It's Firestar and Spider-Woman. Maybe Ms. Marvel, but I can get over her because we have modern Captain Marvel Minimates (much the same way I can get over the Fantastic Four). OH HELL, you know who just occurred to me: Hydro-Man! I've wanted a new Hydro man for YEARS... the first one sucks, and it uses the awful Ultimate Cyclops hairpiece that falls off constantly. Hydro-Man is officially in my top 3, lol.
  4. Schaumburg IL TRU now has Black Panther movie mates, and I still never saw these. So that's 2 stores where I either missed this wave completely, or Black Panther jumped in front of it. (Either of which is just as likely, as it's entirely possible it could have come and gone at Schaumburg without my ever having seen it.)
  5. I'm usually not one for saying, "Hey, stay on topic" because I happen to think divergent discussion is what forums are made for, and I hate when people act like extraneous posts are going to use up all our internet or something... But that said... There sure is a hell of a lot of Specialty Wave 75 discussion going on in this TRU Wave 25 thread.
  6. I'd love the Life Foundation Symbiotes to death. I played Seperation Anxiety on the Sega Genesis so much as a child. Furthermore, I'm a huge Orlando Themepark buff, so having Scream would complete my Universal Studios Accurate Sinister Syndicate Team... which would make me ecstatic.
  7. Are these still lingering anywhere in Chicagoland, that anyone is aware of? I keep checking my 2-3 go-to stores and finding squat. Found Black Panther, but still haven't seen Wave 25 once. I believe I'm beginning to reach the point of willingness to go out of my way to a store I don't frequent, lol.
  8. I'd honestly be perfectly happy to get classic Jamie or 90's Jamie. I just want a costumed Jamie. I don't like Modern Jamie because he's essentially just wearing clothes. And I'm a fan of seeing my super heroes in costumes. I've said it in other threads before: Just as I prefer "Wolverine" to "Logan" I prefer "Multiple Man" to "Madrox" I will say however... that classic Jamie would appease me as a standalone, wheras 90s Jamie would just make me whine for 90s X-Factor in its entirety, so he's a slippery slope. And I feel like for as long as a lot of us have been whining for 90s X-Factor, it seems to... keep not happening. So. If it does happen someday, hopefully it happens all at once.
  9. I don't think I've ever seen the phrase "less is more" used to describe Spider-Man's original/classic comic book costume. Less is more? It's notoriously one of the most artistically over-detailed costumes ever. His webs are a classic example of "things we didn't think through" from a character design standpoint. They make him difficult and tedious for artists to reproduce repeatedly over several animation cells/comic panels, but the costume is indeed a classic, so they've kinda remained stuck with them over the years. Not saying it isn't one of the best visually... I just don't think it's a good example of "less is more" haha. The symbiote costume is a good example of less is more.
  10. I'm personally seeing an overabundance of Wave 24 with a side of Thor, moreso than Homecoming. Though there are still a smattering of Homecoming stragglers, Thor Stragglers, Wolverine Wave Stragglers, and even Dr. Strange Stragglers. But the vast majority at Schaumburg are Wave 24. At my local TRU (Melrose Park) there isn't a clear Majority... just a handful of misc. Melrose is also the only place I've seen Black Panther thus far.
  11. It saddens me as someone who really wants Mimic that Gladiator is absorbing the clear majority of the X votes. Though mild silver lining is that an X vote is still leading. That said, I'm perfectly happy with Multiple Man cleaning up.
  12. I've read reports recently that it wasn't in fact Gargoyle, just a generic background slave island mutant whose model was done, but who people mistook for gargoyle due to a similar appearance. Those reports emphasize that the character was never officially confirmed to be Gargoyle, onscreen or behind the scenes. BUT... that' just what I read (about a week ago, when this conversation started) I always considered the guy in the opening credits Warpath as a kid, because as Nessex pointed out, Warpath was introduced at first as a pseudo-villain, out to avenge his brother, which is exactly how I interpreted his presence amongst the intro villains as a kid. I knew he later became a hero, but I assumed they were starting him as a villain in the intro/cartoon... as they had in the comics. Furthermore the Toybiz toy line released the toy for that look as Warpath (and later released his more unique look as Warpath II) and since the Toybiz line often took its cues from the Cartoon, that re-affirmed the fact he was Warpath, in my mind. I think I always just considered Thunderbird to be long since dead... both in comics and onscreen. (Even though technically he could have stayed alive for the cartoon, if they wanted him to be. I didn't understand the nuances of separate canons as a child, lol.) i truthfully never even took note of Gargoyle/The Generic Guy as a kid. He blends in and escapes notice. Which I suppose was always his job in the first place, lol.
  13. Perhaps you missed the part where I said I was an anal retentive weirdo.
  14. ... To say nothing at all of aesthetics of slipcover vs. no slip-cover... I agree with the notion that Chameleon's play-pattern is backward and it doesn't make sense. When your entire gimmick is putting a mask on over your real "face" the real face shouldn't be the mask... for a toy. (Must we quibble about whether his real-face is his real-face or just another mask... it's his "natural" look for all intents and purposes). There's a disconnect that doesn't make sense about it. It's like a Wolverine toy with a spring-loaded mechanism that only makes his claws retract. There's a... play disconnect. Or even more correctly... it would be like an Iron Man toy that had exterior snap-on "Armor" pieces that converted him into Tony Stark. Iron Man doesn't go UNDER Tony Stark Armor. Mary Jane doesn't go UNDER Chameleon. And as an anal retentive weirdo it kind-of irks me that this Minimate's natural state is, for all intents and purposes, actually a Mary-Jane Minimate. It irks me that this minimate makes it seem as though Mary-Jane is Chameleon's true identity. It doesn't feel like this Minimate is truly a Chameleon Minimate somehow, just as the original one didn't ever feel like it was truly a Jonah Jameson minimate. THAT said, I agree that the original Jameson mask was hideous, and natural human faces don't work well as slipcovers, so I'm NOT saying MJ should have been one. I think the best solution would have just been swappable heads. Worked on larger Chameleon and Morph action figures in the past, no reason it wouldn't here, in a toy line built around parts swapping. Or they could have given more care to the parts Chameleon came with to create logical headswaps like Marvel Legends did. They did Chameleon in a suit, w/ heads for JJJ and Hammerhead (both of whom also look natural in a suit)... plus then we'd have snuck in a free Hammerhead Minimate, which I'm sure none of us would sneeze at. Probably wouldn't hurt to throw a Spidey slipcover mask in just for giggles. A spidey-villain who impersonates people could always stand to come with a Spidey mask. But ANYWAY, will I buy it anyway? Sure. Heck, I'll buy two, because I want a Chameleon and an MJ. I may even buy 3 and make a suit Chameleon, because I agree with the earlier sentinemt that the Bathrobe feels dated. Ultimately it's all just splitting hairs and quibbling, which is what nerdy internet forums about nerdy things like comics and toys are made for... and like most opinions, it's a matter of personal taste. But yes. I agree with the sentiment that this toy wasn't done properly. Per say. For the above reasons. In my opinion. Which ultimately means nothing because the toy still exists and never won't exist.
  15. It sounds like they're still producing/wrapping up the seasons they're currently working on, even if their future beyond that is up in the air, so I'd think the minimates could stay afloat at least a little while longer. Hopefully Walgreens has been doing well enough with them that they'll continue to pick some sort of minimates up, if not the animated line. We've already seen them dabble in a few movie lines. In any event, I doubt it's the death of all Marvel cartoons, longterm, even if it is the death of Marvel cartoons as we currently know them. It's happened before, it will likely happen again. I look forward to the days in the not-too-far-off future when we might get a good X-Men cartoon again. Wolverine and the X-Men died well before its time.
  16. Primary 616 Marvel Comics Canon - Changeling is Kevin Sydney (Dead), a Caucasian male who wore a hideous blue and purple outfit with a ridiculously over-sized headdress (and no cape). He was a short-lived character who died very early in the X-Men's publication history. Morph, on the other hand is Benjamin Deeds, who is a modern unrelated character with similar powers. 90's Animated Series - Morph is Kevin Sydney, a Caucasian male who wore a standard blue & yellow X-Men Strike Force Uniform (sometimes w/ a brown coat) This is the Morph most people are familiar with, thanks to the popularity of the 90s cartoon. The 90s Morph character, as most people know it, was created for this series, and mainly only ever existed in this series. Though it was loosely based on the Changeling character from the comics (with an updated more 90s X-Men Look). His codename was changed from Changeling to Morph, as I understand it, to avoid legal ramifications from DC who also have a character named Changeling (better known as Beast Boy) Age of Apocalypse - Morph is Kevin Sydney, but looks nothing like any prior versions of the character. He is bald, has white skin, no nose, and wears a blue outfit with a purple cape. Exiles - Morph is Kevin Sydney, and his look is based largely on the Age of Apocalypse version of the character (though he is technically a different version, from a different universe). he starts off with the same blue outfit and purple cape, but eventually changes to a more unique orange-yellow outfit and blue cape. X-Men Adventures - Being that this is a comic book adaptation of the 90's Animated Series, this is the only instance, as far as I know, where "90s Morph" (as portrayed in the cartoon) appeared in a comic book. Though this comic book was set outside the primary Marvel 616 canon. X-Men '92 - though based on the 90's X-Men, as far as I know Morph didn't appear in this book (nor Changeling, nor Kevin Sydney in any form). (Though feel free to correct me if I'm wrong, because I've never actually read X-Men '92) If he did appear, I imagine the case would be much the same as X-Men Adventures. ALL THAT SAID... As was mentioned earlier... except for Benjamin, they're all the same character, in the same sense that 616 Cyclops, Animated Cyclops and Age of Apocalypse Cyclops are all the same character. But they've used different code-names, and they all have wildly different costumes and looks. A 616 Changeling Minimate vs. An Animated Morph Minimate vs. an Age of Apocalypse Morph Minimate, would all be three radically different minimates, none of which could stand-in for one another. ALL THAT SAID... The only real question here is whether or not Diamond could make an Animated 90s Morph minimate. Legally. We know they can make the comic book versions of the character. I can only assume they don't have the rights to the 90s cartoon, but his appearance in X-Men Adventures (the non-canon comic) makes it a little bit of a grey area. Zach? lol...
  17. The Animated Version of Morph never made it into a canon comic as far as I'm aware. Though he was probably in the X-Men Adventures comic (which was itself a comic adaptation of the Animated Series) The character, Kevin Sydney, was Changeling as far as the primary Marvel canon is concerned, and died many decades ago. Morph, of the animated series (as well as Morph of Exiles, or Morph of Age of Apocalypse) were his alternate equivalents in those canons. I believe there was also a second 616 Morph (IE. Not Kevin), but he was a whole different dude, and frankly I know very little about him, as I never read any of the stories since his introduction (looks like he came in 2013, and my reading list is currently back circa 2011). A quick google search explains his name is Benjamin Deeds. That said, it's all very confusing, and I ultimately have no idea if Diamond could or couldn't actually make him (as portrayed in the Animated Series). He was definately in X-Men Adventures w/ that look, because again, Advetures was a comic adaptation of the cartoon... which is still a comic, if not a comic that exists in Marvel's main canon... whether or not that loophole would suffice and allow him to be a minimate, your guess is as good as mine.
  18. I question whether they could legally do Morph, since he was a character created for an Animated series they don't have the rights to as far as we know. I'm not sure where a character created for the 90s cartoon ultimately falls in the grand scheme of Marvel Licensing. I realize Changeling, and Age of Apocalypse or Exiles morph exist as comic book characters (One even has a minimate)... but THAT Morph... with THAT costume... exists pretty much exclusively in the cartoon. So Iunno. *Shrug* That said, as mentioned before, I hate 90s Cyclops' hair, and wouldn't mind a second crack at him at all. Jacket or no Jacket. Also, back on the subject of 90s Iceman and Archangel, as Buffalo said, both of them verymuch lack detail when compared with today's standard of minimate. One need only hold 90s Archangel next to X-Force Archangel and compare to see the difference detailing makes. Same sculpt, nearly the same costume in a different color scheme, but X-Force does far more with it... much nicer looking minimate comparatively. I honestly wouldn't mind either if they took another crack at a new metal wing sculpt for him. I don't hate the original wings, per say, they're not bad. But I always found them rather large and ungainly. I feel they could do better with them. Also I'll add, in addition to his lack of detail, many early Iceman minimates (like most early clear minimates) are now slightly yellowed and tacky... which... ya'know, sucks. Once again though, I'm really not looking for a whole wave of these guys, much less a whole Blue set and a whole Gold set. I'm just saying if they re-did a lot of them here and there, to fill out a wave, or to pair with a logical character... I wouldn't mind it. Gets popular looks for these characters back into circulation for new collectors. Some of them don't need an update at all. Some of them could stand an update, even if they don't super duper need an update. Some could downright use an update. But all of them are prettymuch some of these characters most iconic and well remembered looks... thanks to the cartoon. So I'm sure not many would sneeze at seeing them again.
  19. Part of me wants to say the 90s X-Men aren't really due for a re-make yet... but apparently we got most of them way back in 2010 or earlier, so it's been like... 8 years already, surprisingly. I think the problem is most of them still hold up, so they don't FEEL like they need to be redone. Even if it has been 8 years. Though being such popular incarnations of the characters... I have to imagine there are a lot of people who missed them who'd appreciate another shot. But still others who got them and don't need re-dos. All and all I DUNNO... I don't think they should devote a whole wave to them necessarily, much less 2. That would probably irk people who prefer their minimates with fewer X-Genes. But they could probably slip in a 90s Gambit re-do here or a Cyclops re-do there with little complaint. I always hated the 90s Cyclops minimate's hair, tbh. I wouldn't mind a new one, lol. Bishop and Jubilee could probably also be done better. They were always 2 that seemed to be done kind-of on the cheap for the boxed set. Lots of parts re-use. Archangel could also definitely use an update. He was one of the first 90s characters to be made, and thus his minimate looks the most dated. Beast could also use a second attempt.
  20. I have to imagine that whatever deal Marvel has made to make Conan comics, doesn't necessarily give them the right to make Conan toys.
  21. This thread needs more info. I keep coming back here every day hoping to hear something new and interesting in the world of minimates and gettin' nothin'. The only thing getting me by is the character polls... end the drought!
  22. Just a gut feeling really, but I do feel like Gambit is kinda due (or overdue) for a quote unquote "basic costume" update. We haven't had a standard regular Gambit in a good long while. We haven't gotten a "basic costume" Gambit since 90s Gambit way back when... and there's been much lamenting about how expensive he can be to acquire these days. We've gotten a couple Gambits in more recent years, no question, but neither Age of X nor Strike Force really have that classic Gambit look... that trenchcoat silhouette. Neither really serves well as a 90s Gambit stand-in or update. They're both kind-of niche Gambits that only really fit with their matching teams (Strike Force or Age of X) Strangely, X-Men Origins Gambit is almost the best stand-in we have for a classic trenchcoat Gambit... and that's just sad, lol. (And he's just about as old too. Though I imagine much cheaper to acquire.) So if it IS Gambit... I don't think it will be a redo of 90s Gambit, per say, but he does have more modern looks that aren't nearly as far a cry from his 90s look. X-Men Red being a prime example (This is absolutely a modern look that could almost pass for classic). Not to mention older ones like his white trenchcoat from a few years back, or Xtreme X-Men, neither of which are his 90s look, but both of which are... semi-similar-ish. Same argument could almost be made for Rogue, frankly, but she has at least had some fairly basic looks done more recently than Gambit. Not only did her 90s version come out more recently than Gambit's, but Outback Rogue was a fairly standard Green Rogue costume (albeit a fairly old costume), and Age of X Rogue is a much better 616 stand-in for her than the other 3 Age of X figures are for their counterparts. As 616 Rogue has at times been known to wear green full-body suits and hoods. So anyway, they do feel pretty due for an update, as far as top tier X-Men go. If it's not the two of them, I damn sure think we could still use a new version of the two of them. It's been a while since those two had a non-nichey refresh.
  23. I still haven't found these anywhere in Illinois, but I did find a whole case of the Black Panther wave. Black Panther jumped these in line at my local store. I'm wondering if the SKU problems many have mentioned are slowing up their being stocked in some cases.
  24. I feel like Amaterasu is closer than Jockjaw or a Terror Dog, but still a ways off from Cosmo...
