  1. Jewel is Jessica Jones. I don't know a whole lot about the character, but I'll let you know what I know. Apparently, she's a fan favorite character, though she hasn't put on the costume in a while. For powers, I know she at least has flight, but there's probably some more. Years ago, Purple Man took control of her and made her attack the Avengers. I'm pretty sure there's more to this part, but I can't remember it haha, sorry. Recently, she was a journalist (or was it private eye?) with the Pulse. She became pregnant with Luke Cage's baby, and shortly after that they got married. She was living with the New Avengers up until the Hood and his gang attacked Dr. Strange's house, after which she ran to Stark Tower and joined the Registration Act. In terms of the figures, I'm blown away at what is becoming of Minimates. They're constantly getting better, with amazing paint applications. I mean, if you look back at wave's 1-3 and compare them to the current figures, there's a huge difference. I love it! Also, it seems like we're getting a lot of new figures by the end of the year. So much love and thanks to DST and AA! Keep producing figures of this quality and you'll definitely have die-hard fans like the ones found here.
  2. what he said Yeah, I'm gonna jump on this train as well. I hope you lucky convention-goers will be kind enough to post some updates during the convention (perhaps some from the Marvel booth? ). Enjoy SDCC!
  3. I don't remember if it's been said on this board already, but it is possible Two-Face isn't dead. They pretty much had to bury Harvey Dent to give him the heroes burial that cemented his role in Gotham, but we never even see a coffin. With comic book deaths, and their high rate of "I was never really dead!" reveals, I'd say there's still a good chance Two-Face is around.
  4. I'm not sure how many people think the Mr. Reese/ Riddler connection is accurate, but I could definitely see that being the next movie. Sure, the plot seemed kind of wrapped up with Mr. Reese, but it never showed his reaction to Batman becoming a fugitive. Assuming Mr. Reese believes that Batman did kill those people, he could be wracked with guilt over the fact that he kept his identity a secret. Maybe he decides to not outright tell anyone his identity, but a few hints thrown around wouldn't be a problem. Hahah, I'm just thinking "out loud," sorry. I definitely agree that Catwoman should be in the next movie. Bruce just lost his love interest, after all, and I'd love for Catwoman to be the new one. This time, hopefully, they don't make her a complete baddie. She's just a woman who likes to steal, not a psychopath.
  5. That would be great. I'd be able to pay anyone to grab these + shipping costs, before the show. I just don't want to spend $25 to get the Iron Man set shipped from AFX and probably another $25 for the Invaders from another site. If I could find a site that had both available, I'd order from there to save shipping costs, but I've been unable to find one. Anyone that would be nice enough to help me out, please PM me and I can Paypal the cost immediately. Thanks a lot! Helly, McFly, anybody home! Wow, how did I miss that? Haha, I looked in exclusives and the Marvel area but must have overlooked it. Thanks a lot karamazov!

  7. What's the general consensus on where to preorder these? I will, unfortunately, be unable to go to SDCC this year so I gotta order the exclusives online somewhere. So i figured I'd ask people who have been in this situation before, taking into account shipping cost and time as well as actual box set cost, what's the best place to preorder from? Any places to avoid completely?
  8. Huh, I'm really confused. Before Dark Knight (which I saw in IMAX at midnight), we only had two trailers. The first was a Harry Potter one which just had the music and a voice before showing the movie title. And the second was Watchmen. Granted, that trailer completely blew my mind, but it seems like everyone else saw more trailers. What did I miss? One more thing, I was completely blown away by Dr. Manhattan. As some mentioned earlier, it's extremely easy to throw some blue paint on someone. However, the method they chose is so much better. I thought for sure we wouldn't see him until right before the movie opens, but man was I glad they showed him now.
  9. Nope, at least not where I saw it. But let me tell you, some scenes on the IMAX literally took my breath away.
  10. It does seem like it's getting harder to find. That is a great set, though, so I'm hoping it's introducing a lot of people to Minimates. And that could only mean good things for the line in general.
  11. I'm not positive, but I think it might have stood for despair. I would definitely recommend it to anyone who's read any of the other Color books, though. I think this was actually the first Hulk story I'd ever read and I always thought he was a pretty inaccessable character, but Hulk: Gray changed my mind.
  12. Hulk: Gray is pretty much a retelling of the origin. I enjoyed it a lot, though. I've also heard that a couple scenes from the comic were pretty much copied for the Incredible Hulk movie, so I'll have to reread it keeping that in mind. Captain America: White is looking pretty good so far. In the other Color books, the color itself represents something (Spider-man Blue was for sadness, Daredevil Yellow was for cowardice, etc.) but they're keeping what the White stands for a secret. I'm leaning towards surrender, though. A last note, Tim Sale also does most of the art for the TV show Heroes (in case people didn't know that).
  13. I just started to collect variants, so I don't have that many. diamond Emma Frost Archangel Vision 2.0 unmasked Daredevil (on the way) I'm working out a deal to pick up Invisible Woman and Transformation Venom variants, too. Who's everyone's favorite variant in their collection? I know a lot of you like Black Costume Spidey and Stealth Iron Man, but I'm curious to hear other favs.
  14. Let's see, I've got quite a list. Astonishing X-Men Avengers: The Initiative Captain America Daredevil The Dark Tower FF (since Bryan Hitch and Mark Millar took over) Hulk Immortal Iron Fist Invincible Iron Man Mighty Avengers New Avengers Runaways Thor Ultimate FF Ultimates Ultimate X-Men And those are just the ongoings. I always get a lot of mini's, notably Secret Invasion currently. 1985 is also pretty interesting so far, anyone else picking that up?
  15. how did you do that i tried it and it never works! Sorry, I just saw this question haha. Uh, I used a little orange clay to stick the foot to the glider. I'd like to say it was just good balance, but alas, I am not that talented hahah.
  16. I think the Wrecking crew are great, B-level enemies that I fondly remember fighting the 80s Avengers when I was a kid. Most importantly for the purpose of Minimates, though, they are very colorful and have cool, distinctive styles. I personally think of many of the Thor God characters as fairly bland-looking and LOTR-esque in comparison. Plus, as BHM says, Marvel Minimates need bad guys (!), and the 4 of them fit perfectly into Marvel's "4 per box set" policy. I agree, I would much rather see the Wrecking Crew boxset as opposed to a Norse Gods one. While the Wrecking Crew may be a little lame, karamazov nailed why they'd be a good set. On top of that, the Wrecking Crew has fought a wide variety of teams. So while we wouldn't be getting any character specific bad guys, we'd get ones who have tangled with classic Avengers, Omega Flight, and Runaways (plus I'm sure many more heroes/teams). On that note, I'd love to see a Runaways or Young Avengers boxset (or wave). YA Patriot Hawkeye Stature Hulking Then maybe a 2pk of Wiccan and Speed to round out the team. They seem to be a relatively popular team, and I've also heard that both teams will play a big part in Secret Invasion.
  17. HOLY CRAP! I had no idea we'd be getting this many boxsets so soon, this is incredible. When i started this thread, i thought for sure we'd only be getting a single 2-pk exclusive (like previous SDCCs, if i'm not mistaken). Instead we have 2 new four packs as well as hopefully a 3rd available there (FA Avengers). I'm completely blown away by this! Thank you DST and everyone else involved in these sets. Also, I'm going to be needing doubles of all 3 of those sets. But I'd gladly part with the $90+ for figures of this quality.
  18. So I may be in the minority, but some of these figs don't seem too bad. Minus Ed Norton, the rest of the civilians are alright. I agree that Ed Norton is a little hard to capture in the minimate form, so I'm willing to let that slide. Abomination, IMO, is a pretty decent adaptation of his movie counterpart. Granted, I don't like the movie Abomination. He looks absolutely nothing like the comic character, and when I first saw the movie version, I laughed out loud. However, the minimate is relatively true to the character. Unfortunately, I can't find a single good thing about either Hulk figures. Honestly, I was hoping the picture of this wave was being held back because they were trying to get the 2" height limit changed for the wave. I know, wishful thinking, but even the relatively bland paint job on a 2.5" Hulk would have been amazing. Oh well. As has been said before, the two biggest problems of this set are the duck feet and the diapers. The chest pieces aren't the best, but they do give the figure a little necessary bulk. I'll probably still get this set (if it actually gets released), but I won't be rushing out to get them. The main reason I'll still get them, though, is for fear of Marvel minimates going the way of DC. I may be wrong, but I don't think the DC line had any cancelled waves and this would bring it up to 2 for Marvel.
  19. Is there anyway the people who run this site would be able to sell this boxset and the FA Avengers one? It seemed like they were considering selling the Civil War set, but a lot of people had already bought them by the time it was being talked about. I would personally love to buy through here, I'm not going to be able to go to SDCC and I don't have any LCS that regularly get in Minimates. I normally have to buy online, and if I could help this site along the way, that would be awesome. Does anyone else think this is a good idea?
  20. I'm not a huge Iron Man fan, by any means, but this set looks incredible. With the addition of these as well as the Gold Iron Man in the Avengers boxset, it's giving a lot of fans the chance to build their own Hall of Armors without spending tons of money. The two pack with the older armors and the Stealth IM are both pretty expensive/rare, so this helps out a little. Well done, DST (or was it an AFX exclusive? I forget). Let's hope this set paves the way for many more drunken Minimates
  21. Everyone involved in this giveaway is awesome. Thanks so much, shane and everyone else!
  22. I think a good Civil War two pack would be cool. Possibly Hercules and Yellowjacket? Both were somewhat important to the story, and each was on a different side. I know Pym is being made in that FA Avengers set, but I don't think his Yellowjacket costume was one of the ones included. Also, they made the Modern Armor Iron Man shortly before the release of the movie 'mates, so it's not like they haven't done two costumes of the same character in a row.
  23. Technically, they're an AFX exclusive, but several other online stores have them too. Definitely don't buy them from most eBay sellers, though. Some are charging up to $30-40.
  24. Hey all. While I've been collecting Marvel Minimates for a while, I just recently found this wonderful forum, so I don't know the way exclusives are marketed. I read on the NYCC panel page that we'll definitely be getting another exclusive at the SDCC, but they didn't announce it yet. What's normally the process of announcing these exclusives? Will we get some images released soon, or do we not find out what the exclusive is until someone buys one at the con and posts some pics? I'm not sure if someone has asked this yet and I figured some people might have these same questions. If anyone has any answers, that'd be great.
