  1. I'm not holding my breath, but I wouldn't be shocked if this came out on the 360 at some point. You might recall that the PS2 exclusive MGS2 eventually got an expanded, special edition release on the XBox (the same thing happened with Resident Evil 4, which was initially supposed to be a Gamecube exclusive, and Halo got a PC release, to name a couple of examples). Though a lot of "exclusives" actually remain exclusive (MGS3 ), a lot of them don't (excluding those made by the console companies, obviously). Sometimes you have to wait awhile, but personally, I'm patient, so I wouldn't mind waiting 6 months-a year to get MGS4 on the 360. Might not happen, but it might (just like Ninja Gaiden 2 might end up on the PS3 at some point). Regardless, I just don't have enough money to hedge my bets and get every system for every cool, exclusive game. . .that's always the dilemma in these console wars though, isn't it? You've always got the debate over whether you want to trade away a Smash Brothers and Halo to get a Metal Gear. . .its just too bad. . .
  2. I love these things, but I don't, have never even considered, and never will carry them around in my pocket when I go out into the world. In fact, I would never have thought that anyone would actually do such a strange thing. . . Regarding the second question, my only explanation of distinguishing a Minimate from other toys came up in a GI Joe forum a while back, where I ardently defended Minimates being referred to off-handedly as a "stupid kiddie toy," lumped together with the Superhero Squad figures. . .I guess because the Joe figures are so sophisticated and mature in their nature.
  3. I've previously made a similar argument regarding human Minimates from TV shows, unless they have very distinctive faces, clothes, or accessories. However, sometimes human Minimates really come off well, where their essence seems captured by the Mini-makers. So, its hard to say how effective less flamboyant musicians would come off. They would probably be hit or miss, like the other human Minimates around. But apart from all that, I would like to see them attempt Tom Waits, the Police, the Pixies, the Beatles, Charlie Paker, Thriller-era Michael Jackson, or Thelonious Monk, as I really love those musicians, and would even like to have figures that didn't perfectly resemble the real deal.
  4. Being a 360 owner and a huge MGS fan, I hope that this is the truth (though this is the first I've heard of this).
  5. Here is a review of this pack with some pics, if anyone is interested: http://www.oafe.net/yo/mmmhss.php
  6. Man, I really dig the Flint and Firefly. I wish I was patient enough to do some Minimate customs of those and Zartan. . .
  7. It never crossed my mind that that was the same actor, but now that I see their faces in my mind. . .wow! C'mon Brian Cox Lector variant!
  8. Honestly, that would be a deal breaker for me. I hope they have figured out some way to release that accessory.
  9. I would add another vote for wave 5 Captain America and the first Spidey as my 2 favorites. Apart from those, I really like the Punisher from the exclusive pack with battle-damaged Cap. Its just really basic and iconic (like Cap and Spidey). Based on the pics, I also really like Nightcrawler, though I haven't seen him in person.
  10. Regarding non-XBox-live news, I just got Double Dragon Advance for the GBA a couple of days ago (I play it on my DS), and I must say that it is probably one of my favorite games. . .of all time. I strongly recommend it to anyone that hasn't played it. It is definitely worth tracking down.
  11. You have to click on the link below your PMs where it says "Add a copy of this message to my sent items folder" to save your message. I didn't know that, either, when I first joined here.
  12. I mentioned in another thread (I think) that I got a couple of extras to sell at cost to board members here. Let me know if you need one through PM, and I can hook you up.
  13. Bad continuity problems here. I also have 2 Snake Eyes' on the Joe team at the same time. Oh well, its a fictional world, why not have 3 Storm Shadows all fighting at once! --Yeesh--
  14. I picked up some of the comic packs from waves 1 and 2 last week (Scarlett/Hawk, Breaker/Destro, Torch/Ripper). I'm really happy with Breaker, but the other new sculpts seem less than up to the quality we have seen from the single and five packs thus far. . . I've only got the Crimson Guard from wave 5, but I'm keeping an eye peeled for the rest of them. Below is my collection as of now. I got a little carried away with the 12 dollar Legions box sets from Amazon last month, so Cobra has a lot of troopers, but G.I. Joe's recruitment of Krypto the Superdog, as well as Bizarro Cobra Commander and Destro helps to balance the equation a bit, despite the fact that Roadblock is passed out drunk:
  15. Mine didn't come with the loop thing, so he borrowed my "New Avenger" Captain America's part. . .
  16. I found two extras today. PM me if you are interested in buying one at cost.
  17. I have a 360 and XBox Live, but for me, XBL was a terrible investment. I have probably used it a total of 5-10 times, and all it did was show me that a casual gamer has no business with this thing. I used to think I was pretty good at Smackdown vs. Raw (me and a buddy have been playing that and other wrestling video games for well over 15 years now--going back to the NES Wrestlemania), but those people on XBox Live appeared to spend way more time than we did playing, b/c we just sucked (and a lot of them just created characters that were really heavy and damn near impossible to beat, just to increase their scores, I guess. . .lame). It wasn't even fair, we just got destroyed. Then I tried Halo 2, and it was even worse. I beat Halo 1 and 2 without too much difficulty, but then I went online and it was just headshot, headshot, headshot. There is supposedly a ranking system, but I kept being put into games with, usually, a bunch of people that had never played before (that I had an easy time beating) and one or two people that must have played all day long perfecting their sniping. Ideally, XBL would be fun like in my college days, getting 4 friends to go at it on Goldeneye, but it just isn't that way in practice for me. Then, probably the worst of all, is all these kids constantly screaming obscenities, and yelling unintelligible things back and forth. I guess I'm just too old now to understand this modern gaming world. Just wanted to throw in my 2 cents.
  18. I had the same experience yesterday. Only figure from wave 5 at the Wal-Mart was the CG, but I was so psyched to get him! Beware. Not unlike Minimates and the original Joes, they are incredibly addictive!
  19. As a side comment, I think that's a large part of why Transformers are so popular. Every few years a new incarnation comes along that grabs kids' attention, sells toys, etc., and I have little doubt that those a little too young to be into the movie will be that way with the new series. G.I. Joe has hasn't been very good at doing that since the 1980s, and that's too bad. . .hopefully the Joe movie will be a hit with kids, too.
  20. Yeah guys, don't go running to eBay just yet. I found a few last week, and I will probably get some more in the near future. When I do, I'll help some of you guys out. Patience, young grasshoppers
  21. Yeah, its ok, and I'm happy with him overall, but with either face, something about it is still somehow. . .off. I'll withhold judgment, but I'm a fan of the original cartoon. In fact, I haven't really liked any incarnation of the Transformers past G1, so, I wouldn't expect much irrespective of what the cartoon was like. Having said that, what I've seen of the new toon doesn't make me very excited. . .
  22. He's wearing it in my picture above, though it doesn't fit as seamlessly as you might hope.
  23. Here are a couple of quick pics--they're a little pixelated, as I had to zoom in to avoid getting a glare from the flash: (Note: mine had his torso on backwards in the package. He also comes with a piece of webbing. As a side commentary, I actually don't really like this character or figure very much, I bought it to get the Hobgoblin, but its cool to get another obscure variant Minimate, nonetheless.) I don't like his chances here--the "new" Sinister Six and a whole gaggle of Joes vs. a Spidey wanna-be up against a very steep cliff:
