  1. Just found these today... minus Dillon! I guess the bro-hand thing must be a popular accessory...
  2. When assembling this poll, I contemplated taking a hard line on the 1985 cutoff for Bronze Age, but I also realized there'd be a mutiny if I didn't include Typhoid Mary and Nuke, so they're in here. No Matador though, sorry. A primer on our contestants: Angar: He can scream people into hallucinations. Had a notably creepy appearance in the MCU, in AOS. Leap-Frog: This mini could be a 3-in-1, in that the goofy Frog-Man (the original's son), and a subsequent thug in Bendis' Daredevil run also wear essentially the same costume. Typhoid Mary: Super-powered former prostitute. Gladiator (Potter): MCU exposure in the Netflix Daredevil series. A psychically unbalanced costume designer in a bruiser's body with a penchant for Roman Gladiator weaponry. Jester: A failed actor who turned to the Tinkerer to level-up with deadly gadgets. The character has reappeared in Acts of Vengeance, with another man donning the costume. Nuke: A crazed vet, he was born of one of the military's attempts to re-create a super soldier. He relies on red, white and blue pills to keep him jacked up. Appears in the MCU in Jessica Jones. Mr. Fear: The perfect foil for the Man Without Fear? Marvel's Scarecrow, essentially, complete with fear gas. There have been four Mr. Fears. Cobra: Partner in crime to Mr. Hyde, also on this list, this duo first appeared in Thor, but their more terrestrial powers were better suited for Daredevil to engage. Mr. Hyde: Before this brute became too overpowered, he and Cobra fought Daredevil quite a bit. Best not to mention his MCU appearances in AOS. Owl: Un-powered in the MCU's Daredevil Season 1, in the 616 he's a criminal mastermind & has been mutated. Also a Spider-Man villain. This round's army builders: Black Spectre (female followers of the Mandrill, wearing bulky armor to appear as men, compelled to fight against their will) Mauler Armor (famously worn by Turk once) The Chaste (heroic white ninjas, vs. the Hand's red)
  3. The only issue with this line-up is that I think (at least originally) there's only one female in the wave.
  4. The heroes are an Iron Man and two X-Men. I still like our Gambit/Rogue guess, so maybe it's someone new in Iron Man armor? Three new villains is definitely a wrinkle, albeit a welcome one. What's the classic v. contemporary costume ratio here?
  5. Wow! We got to 50 votes quite fast with this poll. And the winners showed a trend toward the novelty of un-made characters over new looks for previously made characters. Classic Mimic was our victor, edging out Lilandra by 2 votes. The oft-demanded green jumpsuit Rogue was a distant third behind these two favorites. For the Starjammers, Corsair was the clear favorite, with Hepzibah coming in second. And poor Sikorsky didn't get a single vote, but let's be real: he's tiny and should be a solid piece pack-in with a box set or two-pack, complete with a small flight stand. I can't see doing one without doing all of them. The core team could be handled as a box set (with Sikorsky pack-in), and there could be a supplemental 2-pack with Binary and a Starjammers variant of Lilandra or Professor X. A fan can dream...
  6. Yeah Changeling does have somewhat of a dubious, retconned, "excuse to bring the Professor back" claim to X-fame. But that helmet! Hoo boy. I feel like he found a giant purple gourd, and it could have gone two ways. And instead of making a wind instrument, he made a helmet and Changeling was born. Q: If you hold his helmet up to your ear, can you hear the ocean?
  7. Your link appears broken Zach, but your reference reminds me of this:
  8. For this poll, we're going back to X. But this time, it'll be classic heroes & allies. Who's at the top of your want list? Instead of an army builder poll, I am posing a question: Who is your favorite Starjammer?
  9. Our champion this round is Deathlok, the Demolisher! Machine Man came in second with a strong showing, and 70s Captain Britain wasn't too far behind.
  10. Prowler / Octopus Rogue / Gambit Iron Man / Iron Doom ?
  11. Unmade vill is a "he" IIRC. A "renaissance" lately. Largely unchanged costume. If Iron Man, could be Ghost. But his costume today is very different that it used to be. If Spidey, could be Tinkerer, Silvermane, Puma, Tombstone... Who's had a dang renaissance? Prowler? Prowler looks mostly the same. My Rogue guess was based on "new hero look that could pass for classic". And it has to be an x-man by process of elimination.
  12. Final victory goes to... Grey Gargoyle Second place goes to the Super Adaptoid! Lost to GG by a single vote! Attuma nabbed third. And finally, by a landslide, your Avengers Army Builder... the Sons of the Serpent! As always, thanks for playing & keep your eyes open for the next poll.
  13. Yeah, Pete was pretty square back then.
  14. This poll's been rambling on for a couple weeks now, I'll give it another nudge to see if we can grab a couple more responses before I call it. Egghead, anyone? anyone? anyone?
  15. I am having a psychic intuition that an Avengers Rogue in a green jumpsuit is in this wave.
  16. I would certainly be interested in Marvel Conan box sets, but DST would have to license them from Dark Horse first (which I hope they do someday).
  17. The 70s were an era of experimentation for Marvel - they branched out into new genres, and tested all sorts of new hero concepts in comics like "Marvel Premiere" and "Marvel Presents." Some characters who are now household names (at least to comic book fans) were born of this era. And there are a lot of great, colorful options here. These characters all had titles or runs of some sort in the 1970s, and all had bitchin' fonts designed for their titles. This poll also marks a break from army builders, for now.
  18. Been a week, time to shake a few more votes loose from this tree. The next poll may be slightly more exciting.
  19. Yeah, we can be pretty harsh (unintentionally) when things don't line up with our personal wants. I see a lot of - and I'm guilty of this too - really wanting the animated line to be an additional outlet for 616 characters whenever possible, when that's not actually the spirit of the line. I'm quietly bummed whenever I can't use a new character like Jackal as a 616 stand-in, because the animated look is just too far off, but I also don't want to condemn the line as teh suxx0rs just because it isn't filling gaps from the main line LCS releases. And yes Zach I'm trying to make you feel better.
  20. 51 votes snuck in, so it changes A LOT! Looks like a fairly massive tie for third now. I'll close the poll and and some pics to the summary post shortly.
  21. We were pretty quick to 40-something votes, but hanging on a couple shy of 50 here. The... anticipation... is... killing... me...
  22. Lava Men & the Sons doing well is not a surprise to me, but Grey Gargoyle is. Very interesting. I wonder if it's partially a function of what Gillbob mentions - we have a weird version of him, and that's created an appetite for a classic version?
