  1. This has been my experience at 2 of 4 local TRU's. As it was mentioned, there are only 2 of each of those packs per case. I did manage to find one Mayor/Subway Ghost (love the vest BTW!!), but absolutely no Janoz/Liberty. Hopefully I'll be able to find one in the event of a restock, but there's sooo much Series 2 on pegs around here. Aw well, I wasn't really a fan of the second film and really was more interested in adding a few more ghosts to my collection (which I was able to do with relative ease). Shit-film, but a surprisingly nice series of 'mates.
  2. Yes, my closest TRU still has quite a few T2 (ironically very little BSG). I've been waiting for the SWAT pack (still 9 left) to go clearance so I can start working on some Colonial Marine customs. It's strange that these are still full price, but I suspect that these remnants are the next on the chopping-block. Do the rest of you (with TRU) really have so much BSG sitting on pegs? With the exception of a lone 2-pack here or there hanging-out with the Ghostbusters and a few Vipers (I'd have gladly bought the rest had they been Mk II), these sold through pretty well in the 4 TRU that I have access to.
  3. Found'em today in Independence, MO. I grabbed a Lockjaw, Hulkbuster, and Stiltman (but he was missing his gun...damnit!). Really stoked with my luck in finding them all, but this is twice now (my Egon was missing his open-trap) that I've bought a TRU exclusive that was missing an accessory.
  4. There does seem to be a bit of contradiction going on the matter...hmmm. A bit off-topic, but spawned from this post, how awesome would it be if DST were to swing a "Warner Bros. catalog license" like their current MGM one? Highly improbable (and pricey I'd imagine), but dreaming is free! The possibilities would be monumental. *big, stupid grin as I "whoosh" my imaginary (Bladerunner) Spinner mini-vehicle around the room!
  5. One would hope not, however, I found the "plan to offer several each year in a variety of sizes" statement particularly troubling. Fans of the original Mezits have been clamoring for more so hydroshrinking the rotocasts wouldn't be inconceivable especially based on Mezco's history with lines such as Popeye, HellBoy, etc. I suppose it depends on the specifics of their license. Regardless, I echo your sentiment that DCD is woefully out of touch. With the recent exposure and success that 'mates have gotten lately from the TRU, SDCC, and other exclusives this could have been a golden opportunity for the resurrection of the line. Rethinking the line with themed box sets and clever exclusive two-pack pairings (see Marvel) could have put them back on course.
  6. No doubt; that is shitty news. No offense to Mezco (and their extremely sloooow production), they do occasionally put out nice product, but they broke my heart when they couldn't even follow-up on their highly praised HBII 3.75" line (minus main villain) to concentrate on their current garbage. I hope these fail miserably, G. Brewer gets demoted, and DCD finally realizes their folly. They could have even exploited TRU's current interest in 'mates had they played their cards right...what a pity.
  7. As much as I love the good Captain, this proposed set doesn't do much for me. I've really only need for one Capt. America: classic 616 and I've already received him (several times...and surely several more in the near future!). Now classic CA villains ? Sign me up for that. Strange that the TRU ad urges you to rally your army of villains but doesn't provide any for the boxset. Hopefully with the inevitable hype surrounding a film there will be more opportunities to "rally our villains" as (bad-ass as he is) Red Skull can't do it alone! "Shoe-in" or not, I voted Suspended Animation Cap (the logical classic variation) as the others have either been done or do nothing for me. I like "Resurrection" (because he is naturally identical to the classic incarnation), but I'm sure he'll pop-up on account of nothing more than being current.
  8. Less and less actually. I used to order full cases of Marvel up to about Series 8 (got a %10 discount from my comic shop) and share a set or two with friends. Certain lines still bring out the completist (and extras for customs) in me, but I tend to be a bit more selective lately with the Marvel stuff as my "want" list is rapidly shrinking. However, with the way 'mates are paired, I usually end up getting full waves anyway despite a few I had no interest in.
  9. That blurb alone pretty much sums up the ToyFare creed (and don't even get me started on their self-serving "price guides").
  10. I laughed out loud when I read that... My first comic ever was one of those book and records with Cap and the Falcon fighting the Phoenix, one of Zemo's aliases, and at the end he fell into a big boiling vat of "Adhesive X"! I loved that book/record!! While I don't believe it was my first comic (I think that was Avengers #?), it is without a doubt my most reread comic as it stayed at my grandparent's and was read every time that I visited (even into adulthood). So many memories attached to that 'lil "power-record". Hell, now I want a cheesy "Phoenix" Zemo variant (gazillion-to-one odds) to go along with Heinrich and Helmut 'mates (looks like a new custom challenge)!
  11. Ugh, I just opened my TRU Egon/Titanic Ghost pack and it's missing the open trap, giga meter, and pass key(?)...complete pisser. They did remember the tape to hold them in place (if they had been there. How the Hell does that happen?!?) though! Has anyone else had this problem? I guess I'll drop Chris an email as the TRUs don't have any others to replace this.
  12. Nope, it's an actual hairpiece. I found these today in Independence, Missouri (along with GB S.3...minus Tony Scoleri). While I initially had no interest in Planet Hulk and only picked this up for the sweet new Mr. Fantastic, I must admit that this is a really well done 'mate though I agree with the previous post that he looks better with the "duck feet" (can't believe I just said that!) and without the torso extension (this makes his arms seem like a tiny T-Rex's!). Reed's coloring is similar enough to the original to trade parts despite the slight difference in sheen of painted arms versus molded...really nice 'mate that has me thinking (or at least hoping) that we see some new updated F4 on the horizon. Now which villain could have sliced-up poor Reed like this...HMMM? I was most excited about Klaw, but honestly he's a bit boring (though it's no fault of execution). I'm still thrilled to add him to my villain roster! Storm is really well executed and will please those who have waited, but I personally hated that look for her and only have her to acquire Klaw, so...meh. Wolvy and Cap? Well, what can one say about rehashes like these other than they look as good as the previous (only Wolvy's got some cuts). Thor and the "Lok-ette" will be coming later, so I had to pass...but they did look very good! All-n-all some nice 'mates.
  13. That's right, if we're going down established roads, then take cues from the best! I mentioned Roman/Greek history/mythology because I've always found it fascinating, but mostly because it would give me an excuse to cave-in and buy that sweet PlayMobil Roman Colosseum and chariot that I've been seeing clearanced for the past few months! DST really needs to get on the ball though and figure a way to get us those Minimate horses that we've been wanting out of this line. A well executed horse could find use in just about every theme that has been suggested (even the existing "police" theme). Saddles with ball-pegs for Angel's wings could even give us a Pegasus (or Aragorn for Valkyrie and Black Knight) etc. I think they'd get quite a lot of mileage from a nicely designed (and generously articulated) horse mold. What do you all think?
  14. I'm pretty excited for these as well. Not necessarily for what they are, but the extra parts and what they could bring. I think (providing that these do well) that we'll surely see reuse of these in a military theme (there's a plethora of existing MM parts for soldiers and such). Pirates has me most excited as it reflects their interest to expand beyond into more legendary, fantasy archetypes. Things I'd love to see: Knights theme. Another timeless classic that would provide great parts for customization. Cowboys/Indians/Calvary. See above. Another mainstay that would allow us to expand on our "Dollars Trilogy" 'mates. Plus, that one pirate in the proto.s (with the mohawk piece) has a bit of a native look about him. Ninjas/Samurai. Always a popular theme for children of all ages. Hopefully Luke's kits have inspired DST (and I still believe that we'll see a proper Hand ninja in the Marvel line if the army-builders continue). Something along the lines of Roman Gladiators or Greeks would be amazing (and there have been a few movies and t.v. series to support this theme. Spartacus:Blood and Sand, Gladiator, Troy, Rome, etc. Besides, we never got an official "300" line so reusing Ares' helmet and some nice new parts might help to make customs happen. There's also the new "Clash of the Titans" and "Percy Jackson" films to fuel interest in these legendary themes. I see a gladiator helm every time that I look at those firefighter helmets!
  15. A Minimate puzzle? What does that even mean? Are they bringing back those puzzle pieces from the old 3-incher line? Are they releasing a jigsaw puzzle of a Minimate-ized Star Trek scene? Are they talking about a BAF? Gaaah, so confused! Glad I wasn't the only one puzzled by that odd statement. I found the word "completes" ( something that we never want to hear unless it's in reference to a specific team roster) even more disturbing. Best to let this one go until something less cryptic arrives.
  16. ...which is wonderful news to me. I'm seeing a (while tiny) BSG Raptor custom possibility in that firefighter copter; something about the angles and that cockpit...hmmm. Hell, if that Galileo Shuttle can accommodate four Minimates, then give me a dang Raptor with semi-proper propotions. Yeah, I know I'm pegando los caballos muerte, but it (and those SWAT 'mates resemblance to Colonial Marines) just got me riled! Truly cool stuff coming though. Universal Monsters, Marvel 36, etc., etc. There's alot of great stuff in store if we can just get the retailers to agree. Sleep well sweet prince; you deserve it!
  17. Looooove it; this is great news! I can't wait to see more.
  18. From all of the mentions of Falcon being a fav. and the upcoming Vulture release, I think he's a safe bet for 2010. We all know Chuck's personal affection for Spidey, so Lizard seems a given as well. He'll probably just be worked-in to a rehash or exclusive wave due to amount of new sculpted pieces he'd require. Wrecking Crew just makes too much sense (as does a Masters of Evil) as a boxset, and just smacks of the kind of necessary-yet-semi-obscure exclusive that AFX has been known for backing. Upcoming Thor and Avengers movies seem to increase our odds of landing these. Speaking of Avengers, we've done pretty well, but Black Knight and Tigra (as well as a few key villains)are are still missing from my collection. The only set that has me slightly concerned from the lists are the Inhumans. While we just got a gorgeous Black Bolt, I'm just unsure how DST plans on addressing the others now that the most prominent member has been released. Surely they wouldn't leave us hanging incomplete. Perhaps if Fantastic Four does indeed get some updates, then the Royal Family could be worked-in...but hopefully not at the expense of some much needed FF villain slots.
  19. I would guess another Endoskeleton, but hopefully the guy we've seen is a generic "soldier" and the other one will get Reese or vice versa. I would love to get "Tech Noir" T-800, but it wouldn't make much sense being packaged with the Hunter-Killer thing. I was going to jokingly say gold or stealth endo (like the absurd Cylon variants), but then I realized that the T-800s(in "Salvation") were black..so it wouldn't be such a stretch. If not, it'll more likely be a variant of Arnie, Sarah, etc. as I doubt we'd be lucky enough to get a generic "future rebel" (though I'd be more willing to purchase multiples if it does ).
  20. That's what I was thinking, he looks very similar to the 2-pack Kyle. I wonder who'll be paired with TRU's "clean-version"? My "red-stripe" looks nothing like that, and has a very solid (too sash-like) line with nothing on the helmet. And the Raider is simply "damaged" and not the unique character "Scar" as they were originally announcing. I'm almost tempted to get more now to army-build if I didn't have to order these in sets of two.
  21. What I found confusing is that his response is to the question about more Miniflyers...specifically BSG. Chuck answers, "yes there will be at least one more wave", but does he mean BSG specifically will be getting one more wave or just Miniflyers in general (the Delorian etc. that were recently announced)? He makes it sound like they're giving BSG "another shot" despite "soft-sales", but he then goes on to say that the BSG MM line is done...or was he just referring to the figures by themselves?!? I so hope that I'm not misinterpreting this and that there truly will be another BSG MF wave. As much as I'll always be a tiny bit sad about the disappearance of the original "classic" flyers, I think the release of a MK II Viper would provide enough closure for me on this line (and I could then move on to new things to whine about! ).
  22. Great idea, poor execution IMHO. A bit of compression is fine, but they go entirely too far with the "Super-D" treatment (especially when it comes to cars). I'm quite sure that you'll see an Ecto-? in the line, but I shudder to imagine what it'd look like; I'll just stick with my toyetic-yet-nicely-proportioned Polar Lights model. I'll probably pick-up a Hunter-Killer (please pair it with a Rebel soldier or such...we've plenty Endoskeletons already), but the others do nothing for me personally (though the jet does look to be the best of the bunch). Oh well, if they can find a way to squeeze-in a few more BSG vehicles through this (modern and/or classic) I'll be pleased, otherwise wake me up when they get around to Tron Lightcycles and (huuuuge stretch here) Mad Max/Road Warrior. *snore* *Oooo! Another "never-gonna-happen" choice...BladeRunner "Spinner". While it seems highly unlikely, it did have a brief cameo in BTTF 2 so I implore all of you BTTF fans to petition for this classic vehicle.
  23. Found the Secret Wars box (passed...for now) and Swordsman/Surfer 2-pack. As much as I'd have preferred a classic Swordsman, this lil' guy's growing on me and despite the bizarre fatty-calf details I love the new Surfer. Great set! I had a hard time passing on the others, but I'll just have to wait for my sets to come-in.
  24. Admittedly I'm more of a Bronze-Age/616 fan, but this wave will make many happy and is over-due (see, I can be a good sport...at times!). Actually, despite my personal lack of interest (more stoked for FA), I expect this wave to be one of DST's all-time greatest-sellers due to the grand-scale familiarity with this particular era due to the animated series. Still, while not the biggest of X-fans, I do echo the sentiment that we desperately need to see Toad, Avalanche, Pyro, Mr. Sinister, and an updated Juggernaut (well, more MU villains in general).
  25. disney did purchase marvel and I have to admit I think these would make killer sets Well there you go. Marvel is the Minimate flagship and hopefully it's success will gain the attention of Disney Rep.s (at least as a viable product despite it's lack of marketing). C'mon DST, you need some aggressive PR. The ground-work is laid, the time is right, and the door seems to be ajar...man-the-fuck-up! You don't get much bigger than the "house of mouse" (and Tron would be a great way to start the relation).
