  1. Now the 19th. If nothing else, it's very true to form for minimates.
  2. It's not just the mates that didn't sell. My LCS has a bunch of die-cast that they can't unload either. Speed Racer is a neat license, but the toys may have gotten a much better reception if they were timed to coincide with the new movie or something to make it a little more high profile.
  3. Looks like these are due any day. BTTF.com showed them due the 10th, then changed to the 12th and now the 14th. Hopefully we'll get them next week.
  4. I picked up 3 of the 2-packs today - I was looking for the variant sets too, but those had been scooped up within a 1/2 hour of being put out. I was hoping to get the Mary Jane variant
  5. Hello?! It's Science Fiction. Slutty Robots are a slam dunk from a marketing perspective... can you say 7 of 9? The Baltar as a cylon thing is an interesting twist... . As far as the link between the Six illusion & Baltar and the Baltar illusion & Six... I don't think it's every really explained if it's psychic or technology or what.
  6. The package condition is often the responsibility of the carrier. I don't know if you've ever seen the guys from the post office or UPS handle boxes. Those guys are brutal especially this time of year when they're trying to fit every last package onto their carts and trucks to deliver them. I was watching one of those guys punch and pound boxes onto a crowded hand cart just to get a couple more items on for delivery. Charging too much is one thing - but going out of their way to sit on your box and then kick it a few times before using it to break in a new hammer is just inviting trouble for them down the road.
  7. I'm pretty disappointed that I can't track any mates down at any of the 5 Suncoast/FYE stores in our area. The best I can find is one store with the Cylon 5-packs that are still at full price and another that rec'd zombies and BSG2 about 2 months too late. I really like these non-comic mates, like BTTF, 24, ST, BSG and Rocky but there isn't a good retail channel that carries them. Most of the LCS stores I've seen limit their minimates to strictly Marvel/DC lines and don't expand beyond that. I don't mind going to AFX or DST for an order occassionally, but I'd rather not get hammered on the shipping each time and I'm such an impulse buyer -
  8. I have a dead end job that is slowly killing me - they deposit money in my bank account every 2 weeks in exchange for the right to piss me off and demonstrate their ignorance. My official title is Senior Executive Supreme Grand Master of Doomed and Deadend Projects.
  9. Let Me Know - I'd be happy to Paypal you some $$ in xchange for a set + Shipping
  10. I made some calls to 3 FYE and 2 SUncoast stores in the SF Bay Area. Nada! I got one referral to the website. (Deadend!) One manager told me that things like that sometimes only went to their super stores. (Go figure) I'm hoping their distribution is just painfully slow... but you'd think there'd be a race to get this out before the holiday shopping is over.
  11. I've got 17 mixed modern Cylons (canon, regular, BD, Downloaded, Valley of Darkness) and 4 Classic. Not including the cylon-humans
  12. No sign of them in San Diego yet... T. As far as Northern Cal. goes - Nothing at my Suncoast and I called an F.Y.E. about 15 miles away and nothing there either
  13. Yeah, that led paint thing had me worried too.... but not so much as people who die as a result of having a snake-stick stuck in their but.
  14. The candid responses for Q & A 5 were much appreciated.... thanks First, I might well get this out there, since we know that it's gonna come up (in spite of Shanesters rule #1).... 1. When will see the Ghost Rider Mates? 2. Are the Target Spiderman Minimates really dead? 3. Ditto with Street Fighter.... (For those who have been in a coma, too busy fighting the Covenant or otherwise occupied reading Vogon poetry - It's been safely established that you should not hold your breath for Ghost Rider, SF or Target Spiderman mates) That having been said - here's some real questions: 1. When you guys are developing series of mates, like Rocky or BTTF, do you have an idea of what the series will be like, or do you just keep going, so long as there is consumer interest? 2. The Clint Eastwood westerns are such an original idea - has there been any discussion about branching to other Eastwood movies, or are you focusing on the Fistful of Dollars/Few Dollars More thems?
  15. I just bought the PX Exclusive 24 2 pack which was instock less than a day before the offer (kicks self for not having more patience)... UPS ground from the east to CA was less than $6.00 - with an item cost of $6.99, it totaled $12.xx. I'd say not too bad, considering stuckakid and BBTS and AFX all hit you for the $7-$8+ range to ship similar. It was also shipped in about 24 hours. On the minimate side, I saw that they had the 24 2-pk, Season 1 & 2 in stock as well as BSG 2 and star trek wave 2 cases, all the Rocky stuff and Marvel Zombies.
  16. That's a pretty good guess... I think that is the best interpretation of the "boxed element" hint so far... there's still a couple of variants to exploit. As for army building - if we get any of the human cylons, there's lots of army potential.... especially with all the 24 mates, as far as some generic variants of the 3's, 8's and all the rest. I picked up an extra Sharon/D'Anna set and mixed it with parts from 24 to get a unique Sharon and D'Anna
  17. Yeah, I'm a little frustrated too.... I'd like to pick up some of these, but none of the FYE or Suncoast stores in the area seem have them. There are 2 Suncoast and 2 FYE stores nearby and none seem to have any consistancy when it comes to getting these.
  18. Those Legos are very nice sets - but the Minimates just won't work on that scale - Lego Mini-figures are much smaller. That being said, if you could blow up the scale, which is usually easier with Lego than trying to go smaller, then you may have something. On another note - try that transporter diorama from millionaire playboy. I knocked one up using the color copier at work and a CD and it came out great. One hint - when making the base, try using cardstock so the ring and hub of the cd doesn't show through or make an impression when you glue it down
  19. If anyone saw the movie "Master & Commander: Far Side of the World" - Patrick O'Brian has a 21 book series that takes those characters through their careers as British Royal Navy Officers during the Napoleonic Wars. There's a lot of great detail and excellent conflicts and battles. I've read all 21 books and found them extremely entertaining. Likewise, C.S. Forester wrote about 13 books in the Horatio Hornblower series. These are set in the same era as the Master & Commander books, but with very different central characters.
  20. Here's a quick custom of Lt. Kendra Shaw from BSG:Razor. The recipe: Surplus Admiral Cain body from BSG wave 1 CAG Starbuck face w/ custom beauty mark Cag Starbuck Hair repainted black Completion time: 30 minutes for paint to dry and to apply the beauty mark Hint: Dip the edge of a pin or sharp toothpick to get the beauty mark small enough that it doesn't look like a radiation burn or the mole in Austin Powers.
  21. Any news on Season 3? Amazon has it listed, but with no release date. Razor will be out on 12/4
  22. I thought Razor was great - some intense character development. A box set would be wonderful - I'd like to see Lt. Shaw, Fisk, A classic chrome cyclon, BD/prisoner Gina or Tech Contractor Gina and a Colonial Marine
  23. as luck would have it, my Suncoast is at the ass-end of the universe and gets everything like 10 years late. They just got BSG 2 about a month ago.
  24. I hope not - I'd really like to see something different, or at least a little originality. The AA ST 8" figures started with a couple of waves to get the original crew completed, then jumped right to Mirror-Mirror.
