  1. I was searching for the Star Wars 3-pack from SDCC this year and someone had OBO with a $62 starting bid and free shipping. I offered $55 to get things started and they countered with $62 saying that because they were offering free shipping, they didn’t feel like going below $62. I countered with $61 and they declined.

I got an eBay coupon and ended up paying $55 with a BIN from a different seller yesterday.

  2. As I said I was planning to do over my vacation, on Tuesday I traveled over 200 miles to hit 27 of the closest 36 Walgreens stores. I was hoping to find wave 8 or wave 9 or more of IW2. Here is what I did find:

At least I found a set of wave 8....

    Sure, here you go:

I am having the same company make these that is currently working on the large Stature cut-outs. They will be printed directly onto dense foam board. I am having the company make a backdrop for my November custom at the same time that will be really cool. :)

Thanks. I was wondering if it was a flat backdrop or a 3D piece. Sure glad I went with the year subscription!

I'd only ever seen Pryde of the X-Men so this figure's hoses made him Pyro in my book. What was up with that staff?

This figure has extendable legs and arms. They slide out. The staff extends too, so, you know, it looks appropriate....

Didnt Dave make some iron man parts for the Infinity War Iron man? Just wonderin. Cus i thought i saw the leg thrusters on shapeways one day. I could be wrong.

They’re in his shop and are titled ‘booster’

  6. I thought it would be coolest to have the motorcycle (or mammoth) be a lower body piece that would take the place of the legs and crotch pieces. Have a peg that fits into the Minimate’s torso. Sculpt the legs onto the bike so you don’t have to worry about the limited hip movement of Minimates.

  7. If i’m Not mistaken, shapeways prints the stuff. People like @Dave create the design in a 3d design software and upload/share it on shapeways. I believe the creator gets a cut of the price you pay to have it printed.

Dave’s stuff is amazing, but I can’t justify paying the shapeways prices to get it. I have a 3d printer, but I don’t have the skills (or patience) (or knowledge) to create something for Minimates. I’ve tried, but I think I need better software.

It would be great to get a bike like that. Painting it would be a challenge though!

So is this the reason stores like target n walmart havent been fillin their shelves? The few times ive checked out target it seems like their collectible isles have nothing new in them. With lotsa open peg spaces.

Pretty sure this is Target’s semi-annual toy clearance time. They get rid of ‘old’ toys for about a month, clearancing them off, and then bring out the new stuff. Hopefully.

If the TRU wave is now at Walgreens, do you know how they will be distributed? Walgreens has been getting 4 2-packs. TRU was getting 3. Will Walgreens get 6 for this set? Or will different Walgreens get a second of different packs?

    xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

we are aiming for online sets, but we'll see.

Only? And if so, do you know it will be a full set or individual packs?

Agreed. I think that it’s easy to dismiss what a cataclysmic impact TRU closing had on the toy industry. Some toy companies even scraping or postponing development because they had to get distribution figured out. In some cases the infrastructure for online stores which was on the 5 year plan has been accelerated to the 6 month plan. All of these things causing shifts in resources and I’m some cases incremental asks that just had to be sold in. It’s not as easy as oh we made them and they are sitting in a warehouse let’s just go to x and they will take them.

Especially with this wave. At C2E2 it was mentioned that if another retailer wanted to pick it up, it would need to be repackaged or at least have the TRU stickers removed. Remember that TRU was on both the exclusive sticker AND the back of the box. This repack process adds cost and time to the distribution.

Comic shops or online retailers didn’t really care about what the box said.

  11. These all look cartoon accurate. Dracula and Crimson Widow (Yelena) make a good compliment to the Whitney Frost mate we have, as they were all in a Halloween episode together.

I don’t think Ghost Rider had a name in the cartoon. I think we was more like Man-Thing with the wordless Fear-Inducing thing.

Is it me or do the Sonic Minimates look better? They all looked pretty wonky to me when first revealed, but now they look better. Did they modify the heads?

Looks like they are all sculpted head pieces now. I think before they were sculpted hai pieces on a standard head.

EDIT: Nevermind. Looks like the same figures

  13. I have vacation coming up in a couple weeks and I plan to take a day just hitting as many Walgreens stores as I can. I think there are 30 or so within about 25 miles of me....

I was hoping for an extra Thor head that I could add an eyepatch to, but I've been finding them plenty, I just haven't felt like spending full price for just a head (despite having bought a Minimate 4-pack before for one accessory - don't judge me).

What accessory? I bought extras of the first Ant-Man box set to get Hope’s hair for TMNT Irma.

I wonder though if Walmart’s price busting may further alienate LCS and threaten the online retailers?

Select figures were $19.99 and the Vinimates were $9.99. The Select assortment was the slimmer character packs that TRU and Target have gotten, not the 3 packs that go to specialty.

  15. I had seen the KH Vinimates and Selects at one Walmart by accident.

I have not seen them at 7 Walmarts while actually looking for them.

Talk about a retailer with poor distribution. Walmart, in my experience, is significantly worse at distribution than Walgreens or TRU have ever been.

I guess since Series 9 is out we'll unveil Series 10 at SDCC! I know people are kinda down in this thread about finding everything, but it's got:

One hero we've done several times but gets complaints almost every time.

One anti-hero/villain we've done several times, few complaints.

One hero and one anti-hero we've done a few times, both likely welcomed.

One hero and one villain we've only done once.

Two villains we've never done, both pretty cool.

One GOTG set, one Spidey set, two Avengers sets.

While I have yet to find either wave 8 or wave 9, I want to guess here:

Spidey set: Spidey (hero with complaints) and Venom (anti-hero/villain) - Hopefully with Brock and Max heads and thrips hands

Guardians: Articulated Rocket (hero few times) and Titus (new villain)

Avengers: Blade (anti-hero) and Dracula (villain done once) AND Attuma (new villain) and Jane Foster Thor (technically hero done once, although we have 2 Janes)

  17. After seeing the movie, I think Walgreens needed a wave!

    Ant-Man and Wasp (repack)

Phasing Ghost (unmasked head) and Bill Foster

Shrinking Wasp (similar to SDCC Ant-Man and Yellowjaccket) and Louis

    Ant-Man (Rocket sized) and Janet
