  1. Have you been reading it Neo? If so, toss some spoiler boxes our way. I'd like to know if I should pick it up. I think it's important to NOT look at this as a publicity stunt. It is, but that's not what Morisson had in mind. He's been building towards RIP since he started on the book over 2 years ago. I'm not sure there's room for another female bat, but I would rather see Hush become Batman than Jason. Everyone saying he'd make a good Batman... Where's that Gravity Hammer? Seriously, Jason is such a horrible character that even thinking about him I get a bad taste towards DC in my mouth. Realistically I think Robin SHOULD get it, BUT Hush would make the best Batman. I can't way anything more since the Hush story is all about trying to find out WHO he is, but he'd be a good fit. As for Dick, he is probably one of my favorite characters in DC, but I like him where he's at. I like how he's grown and how he's always developing as a character. No Batman for you. Disclaimer: Sorry, earlier I posted that Hal was dead for 5 years. I realize I was actually wrong there. I was thinking about how long he HADN'T been GL. He was Parralax for awhile. He was only actually dead for about 2-3 years.
  2. Nothing frustrates me like people who make stingy remarks about things they know nothing about. "DC continuity" has been solid for the last 20 years, so try reading a comic before you make a comment about it Havok. As for "killing DC heroes" and how long that lasts, only Hal Jordan (GL), Oliver Queen (GA), Superman & Barry Allen (Flash) of the major DC characters have ever died and come back to life (Unlike Marvel who has killed EVERY ONE of their characters at some point), Superman stayed dead for a year, Hal 5 years, Oliver 6 years & Barry 22 years. Wow. Chew on that one a little bit. Now, back on topic. I haven't been reading Batman RIP, but I've been really considering it. It's important to note that DC has stressed that RIP might not stand for "Rest In Peace". It might even be an early retirement. Of the characters shown Jason Todd is a dick, who I HATE. Catwoman may be Bruce's lover, but she still... Nope. Hush, well I don't want to spoil anything about him for people who don't know him, but 'no.' That leaves Dick and Tim. Of the 5, Dick is my fav. but Tim has fought tooth and nail for his spot at Batman. As much as I love Nightwing I'd hold that spot for Tim. ... Especailly if you've read Geoff Johns' Teen Titans run. Tim becomes one nasty Batman... ...
  3. Honestly this is what I was expecting from the first Punisher. On one side of the fence, the first movie was awful/boring. On the other side, this is what Punisher is SUPPOSED to be... But I'm not going to be watching it. Just cause they actually capture a character from comics does not make for a good movie... Are all comics good? (The answer is "no" you guys. )
  4. Well the author obviously knows nothing about DC (Since their "rewrites to save continuity" happened like 20 years ago and Krypto the Superdog IS in current comics), but it's the first real insight we have into the game. Like I said, too early to say if it'll be worth anything, but it's definetly the TYPE of game I want to play. http://www.1up.com/do/previewPage?cId=3168987
  5. After reading that I'm actually really excited for this box set. One of the coolest ones so far.
  6. Strike two to your bat credibility... As I said it's kind of subjective but as a long time Bat reader I feel he wouldn't have done that without knowing he would save both. The not taking life thing is as much a part of the character as the pointy ears. T. I actually have to stand with TBT on this one. Infinite Crisis (in comics) pretty much happened because 1 of the "big 3" killed someone and Batman couldn't relate in any way. (Sure, there was more to it than that, but it definetly proves a point) Batman would never knock him off that ledge if it would kill him. Even with only 3 seconds to decide.
  7. Actually I forgot to tell him that. Josh, none of your pics work. But yeah, he's alive and well. Care to comment Nervous?
  8. He's still alive. And maybe even working on something... ... But the skrulls DID do something nasty to him.
  9. I haven't played it on Wii, Trekker but Okami is AWESOME! Definetly worth picking up. Think Zelda... But a wolf... No wait. This Zelda with puzzles.. Damnit! Seriously though, it's Zelda without 30 items. Instread you have a paint brush. When you unlock bombs you "draw" a bomb to blow up a wall. I can't say enough good about this game. What games am I playing? Same as usual. Halo 3 & Rock Band.
  10. The Good: 4 new mates... 1 of them is Tarantula!! The Bad: Even though they look alright HALF of the wave is duplicates.
  11. Handsomedevil, the "bat growl" as you put it is actual continuity of the comics. In Allstar Batman & Robin boy Wonder they talk about it. It is Bruce's way of disguising his voice so people he knows donb't figure it out and it is used to intimidate enemies. If you're not afraid of him, however, it sounds silly. As for villains, like everyone else, I'd like to see Catwoman & Riddler. I would however also like to see ScarFace & Dummy. Also, even though they won't do it, a movie with Catwoman would also be great with Robin. For those who have read Hush the chemistry that can be played between "The Boy Wonder" and Catwoman is phenomenal. Alpheon, a few pages back you commented on Two-Face & Joker. I'm wondering how long it's been since you've read a Batman comic. Two-Face has always been one of my favorite of Batman's baddies. He's come a long ways from the "2 O'clock bandit." The story of a good man who, because of an injury to his face becomes scitsofrenic is very interesting. As soon as the world could see his ugly side visually ihe started manifesting it. For those who don't read much DC or would just like to know more about Batman's rogue's gallery I suggest reading: Arkham Asylum the special edition.
  12. Here's the problem Neo: I think it's good to be opinionated AS LONG AS YOU KNOW ABOUT THE MATERIAL YOU'RE DEBATING. Otherwise, it's nothing. As someone who reads both DC AND Marvel I have to disagree. If I had to make a broad statement about the 2 companies it would be this: Marvel has better artists DC has better writers This of course has plenty of exceptions, like Jim Lee working for DC and Bendis working for Marvel. However, Marvel has artists like Greg Land, Paul Pelletier, Jim Cheung, ect. DC has writers like Geoff Johns, Chuck Dixon, Greg Rucka, Mark Waid, Grant Morrison, ect. You're right in that the DC train is already speeding down the track, so it can be difficult to jump on. That is why I have suggested specific Trades to people in the past to ease them into the "big picture." If people are intersted I normally suggest starting with something like: Hush (A small, stream-lined cast) Then moving onto: Identity Crisis (A massive cast but stream-lined story) After that I suggest somthing like 52 (due to it's big picture-story and great writing) I love the 3 characters you brought up, they are among my favorites, but I have to ask when the last time you actually READ DC comics was? ((Oh, and BTW Green Lantern: Sinestro Corps is viewed as most as the best comic book story last year, so saying that GL & Superman don't compare to Avengers is really just saying you don't know anything about what's happening in DC))
  13. Superman 64 is my biggest disappointment in video game history. I LOVED the show and waited excitedly for the game... Then it was delayed... Again... And again. When it finally came out it sucked horribly. I'm definetly not trying to say DC's games in the past haven't sucked. I think we've all brought up prime examples of crappy superhero games. None of them had nearly as much attention or production values as DCUO, however, and that's where my hopes lie. Jim Lee has been working on the game for almost 2 years now... Doesn't the sound of that just make your mouth salivate?
  14. Wow... Excellent! I was incredibly closse to going into a rant on this thread a week ago but when it got deleted half way through I decided to hold my tongue. It's true, you are very opinionated there Neo which only adds to the "color" and deversity of these boards... As long as you keep it in check. Not sure if you read the earlier links but Jim Lee is designing ALL the characters. It's too early to say if I will buy a PS3 for... The game is WAY far off, but still it's definetly got potential. Slightly off topic: Earlier you posted: "If it wasn't for Batman I wouldn't care if DC fell off the face of the earth." About a year ago weren't you watching/buying the whole run of Bruce Timm's DC Superheroes cartoon? Change of heart or just trying to be "opinionated"?
  15. Don't let them rattle your cage Aapje. You participated and set in a custom that will help a charity. It's all in good fun.
  16. Wow Neo. You managed to reference 3 things that sucked (one of them that is only at issue 2, so is still debatable) in the last 70 years. How about we try: Infinite Crisis, Identity Crisis, Hush, 52, Sinestro Corps War... That's 5 to counter yours. I can see now hoe some people get annoyed when you write something off without giving it a chance.
  17. In a similar MARVEL topic: http://www.1up.com/do/newsStory?cId=3168572 ANd if you're wanting more OLD info on DCU: http://www.1up.com/do/newsStory?cId=3148312
  18. So, I've been fairly open about the fact that down the road I will eventually buy a PS3. I always thought the game that would cause me to do it though would be Kingdom Hearts. Looks like there's another game coming down the pipeline though... (I know this info is a week old, but I haven't posted in a week so...) http://www.1up.com/do/newsStory?cId=3168556
  19. Ooh... Sorry about that. I picked up on it thanks to the revenrend saying For folks in the "know" Kalibak, is one of the sons of Darkseid. All brawn, no brain. The is a bit elusive. My understanding of it is that it gives it's owner the ability to "recreate realtiy." Of course, I am, however not certain on this. In the last episode of the JLU cartoon (Which was AWESOME for thsoe who haven't watched it)
  20. Oops! I started my review then got busy. Thanks Jatta for catching the ball. I pretty much agree with everything you said. I DO however have some knowledge that might clear up some lingering questions: Finally, I for one had gotten used to the fact that To be honest, I didn`t expect this issue to reinvent the wheel... Nor do I expect issue 3 to do so. I`m holding my breath for issue 4.
  21. So Final Crisis has been out for a week. I thought I'd do a quick summary here. Once again, issue 2 "sets the stage" for what's coming. In the words of my brother: "It seems to spend too much time on things that aren't important." Who are we to judge though? Maybe a caveboy is going to be the main character. The Injustice Society argues some more, with Lex trying to lead his own group. Vandal Savage (an immortal) turns him down saying he's bored and anyone offering him some entertainment will have his loyalty (He appeared in issue 1 as a caveman... Yep, he's old).
  22. I couldn't agree more. The problem with DC is that it has become such a beatifully complex thing that some of it's greatest moments (like Infinite Crisis) can only be appreaciated by: A ) Someone who has a good grasp on DC or B ) Someone sitting in front of Wikipedia as they read. THat being said I try to start people with either Hush or Identity Crisis. Also, if people are looking for a good read, anything written by Geoff Johns is awesome.
