  1. I'm sure everyone has seen the new Mini Star Wars line that comes with the plastic planets. I have thought the idea was dumb because the planet is pretty much something that I find tacky and wasteful. However, I picked up two sets (Naboo Fighter and Republic Assault) a week ago and I fell in love with the sets. Right now both of my sets are on my desk at work and I'm planning to pick up the full 1-3 series of these. And I HOPE that LEGO continues to make them. They may be my new favorite adult LEGOs. Anyway, It got me thinking how cool it was to showcase things that I love, in a minimalist way. I'm not going to put my $300 UCS Star Destroyer on my desk at work, but I can't wait to get my Mini Star Destroyer set for display. But right now LEGO is only making these in Star Wars flavor. At first that got me kinda bummed.......but then I saw it as a challenge. And I ACCEPT! So, starting with my new Hobbit set, I'm going to use the Mini Star Wars Planet series as a template for my new LEGO obsession. I present, Hobbit Series 1 - Bilbo Baggins: Long term goal is to workout a way to make little plaques like the Star Wars sets, but I think it turned out pretty sharp and have some cool ideas for the future!
  2. Well, I took my kids to LEGOLAND this weekend and decided to pick up my first of the new Planet Model sets. I picked up the Naboo Fighter and it's amazing! Uploaded with ImageShack.us This may be one of the coolest ideas that LEGO has had in a long time. And it's PERFECT for my desk!!! I don't know what the future holds for these sets, but I'm praying we get some spin-offs. I'd love the Turtle Van with a Leo figure or the Turtle Blimp with Don. Maybe a Helicarrier with Nick Fury or a Motorcycle with Ghost Rider. Even Batman with a Batmobile or Wonder Woman with an Invisible Jet. OR, they could grow the licences with these sets and get Marty with a Delorian or Bo with the General Lee or That kid with the Spaceship from Flight of the Navigator. Of course, most of these will probably never happen, but I tell you now I'd buy every last one of them. I am already working on the full Star Wars sets. Plus, I have all of the Mini Line released years back, so I'm going to start making my own bases for all of those vehicles. It won't be the only thing on my desk, but I do think I've found my staple! Please don't discontinue these.....
  3. There is no BC of any kind on PS4 and XboxOne. That has been confirmed for both. Anything, Digital or Retail, will not play on the New-Gen. As for your statement about "Launch Titles", there have been almost NO titles announced for launch. However, I think after E3 is over, you might change your tune. There are some pretty heavy hitters rumored to be up MS sleeve. Yeah, I don't plan on scrapping my Xbox 360 either. I have two and I will keep one in my Master and put one in the guest room. But I feel like it's a joke having to keep both systems plugged up. Let me give you an example. Probably my most wanted game of this year is Disney Infinity. If you don't know what that is, google it, it's kind of like a Disney version of Skylanders. No, Disney has went on recording stating they are "Creating a Platform" with Disney Infinity. Something that will grow year after year with new playsets and figures added in waves. So, the game comes out in August and let's assume that the Xone comes out in November (3 Months later). So, I pay $60 for a brand new game, and probably another $40 for extra characters. I play the game for a few months and then I pick up my Xbox One! The brand new, super sleek and sexy system for, let's say, $400. I take it home and start playing. Then, let's say December, Disney releases another new Infinity Playset, let's say Planes and I buy it for $35. Now, I will have to keep my 360 in my living room and turn it on just to play Infinity, while my $400 new system just hangs out. Or, what is more likely going to happen at my house, I will just keep Infinity in my Master Bedroom with the 360. So, if a friend comes over and I'm like, "DUDE, check out this new Planes level on Infinity".......we have to walk into my Master Bedroom, sit on my (Hopefully made) bed like teenage boys, and check out the level on my 32in LCD. Instead of sitting on my couch, booting up my XONE, on a 50in OLED and surround sound. And, the icing on the cake, is that Microsoft is promoting Xbox One as the "Only Box" you will need. You can just speak and switch between a game and tv and music, etc. Only, if you want to play the new Splinter Cell or GTAV, you will have to turn off your state of the art new console and let it collect dust while you play on your 7 year old Xbox 360. It's COUNTERproductive!
  4. Jeff, you are exactly on point about Backward Compatibility. I'm writing a blog about that right now. Here's a little snip: Just some of my thoughts, but I do believe this is a huge misstep for some a universal company. It's like if when Windows 8 launched they were like well, Windows 8 is so much cooler than anything that we've done before, HOWEVER because it's new it won't read MP3 files, WMV files, or DOC files. That would not only be a disaster, but it would be idiotic......however, that is exactly what they are doing with digital content on the Xbox platform. It's a problem folks!
  5. Well Folks, we are just about ready for that time again. The Home Consoles are about to jump into the great unknown. Something that traditionally happens only twice a decade, its' the time to launch new hardware (and yes, I do realize the Wii U is already out!). With Sony's presentation of the Playstation 4 in February and Microsoft's reveal of Xbox One this week AND the struggle that the Wii U is facing right now, I thought it would be a great time to start the conversation on the next generation of gaming. I am interested to share my thoughts, and hopefully others are too. Here are a few questions to maybe kick things off: 1. What do you think of the Presentations for both PS4 and XONE? 2. What things are you most excited about so far in the announcements? 3. What things are you most disappointed with so far in the announcements? 4. What 1st party exclusive games do you think we will see at E3 and what do you think will launch with each console? 5. What games are you most looking forward to in this next generation? As you can see. I'm very excited and have plenty to say......I hope I'm not alone! As always, please be respectful of others opinions, because opinions are personal and none are right OR wrong. Let the discussion begin...
  6. Thanks for all of your suggestions. I finally found exactly what I want.................except for they don't make them anymore. Several years back Hasbro made a line of Die Cast figures/vehicles called Titanium. They made Marvel figures and Transformers and Indiana Jones and Star Wars and Battlestar Galactica. They are sub $10. They are small so I can fit a lot of them on my desk. They are super detailed and look great. So, I guess I'm going to start plundering Amazon and eBay and see if I can pick up some of these that are still in circulation. Too bad these aren't around anymore, these are PERFECT!!
  7. You know, I have never played a Tomb Raider game. I am planning to download the new Tomb Raider when it's available on 360. I know those older games are available now. Maybe I should look into them.....
  8. I have a 250 GB HDD. I store all of my games there and I store my saves to the cloud. I have just at 140 games (Most are arcade games) and I think I have like 25 GB remaining. As for the LEGO games, I've beaten them all (though not 100%) except for the Harry Potter games. Never got around to playing those. LotR is really great though!!
  9. I am a HUGE LEGO game fan, but as of 2013 I have become a digital media consumer only. So, I never got around to playing LEGO Lord of the Rings. However, it was released on Demand (Finally) on XBL this Tuesday. I have been playing quite a bit of if for the last two nights and I am really liking the game alot. I still think LEGO Batman 2 is my favorite LEGO game so far, but LotR is in the Top 5 easily! I can't wait for LEGO Marvel Heroes. And yes, I am breaking my digital only rule only because Xbox refuses to release games Day and Date and I can't wait 6 months to play that game! I already have it pre-ordered from Walmart so I can get the LEGO Iron Patriot figure.
  10. It's a Day, that is a Future Representation of the day you were born, but years in the past. Congrats!
  11. That is awesome Mini-God. And I love the Animated versions of not only Harley, but all of the Batfamily. That looks like a great size too. I would love small statues along those lines, but I was really hoping to get a wide range of stuff. My issues is that I can find bits and pieces of stuff I like, but nothing together. I want Cap and Iron Man and Batman, next to Boba Fett and Doctor Who, next to Leonardo and Marty McFly, next to Aragorn and Slimer. It just doesn't exist.....or at least I don't think it does. I may have to go with Minimates, because it has probably the largest selection of anything else I've researched.
  12. Thanks for the help so far gang. But honestly, this may be a loosing battle. There just isn't anything that I've finding that fits that sweet spot. I love the Paperweights from Monogram, but it's pretty limited in selection. Why isn't there a company that has small, bust or statues with the breadth of licenses like Minimates have. I have a huge list of great ideas of what I want. They just don't exist. :\
  13. Holy cow those Hot Toys are AWESOME. But $200 is going to be way outta my range. Maybe in the future though. I almost just bought the Mark 42 Iron Man but prefer my account to be Non-Overdrawn! Thanks for the advice though, when the money is available I will probably look into those. Thanks. The Squinkies phases is not lost on me. My daughter loves these things. But it's not for me. The biggest issue is just the lack of detail, I want something that's sharp so when someone looks at my desk they get a clear view of what they are looking at. The Squinkies are just a little too small for that.
  14. I do feel like I was misleading. First, I honestly don't care what people thing, so "More Adult" was probably not the most accurate statement. I guess, I just meant something stationary that is nice looking as a static collectible Action Figures are great, but with the joins and stuff they are meant to be played with. I want something strictly for display.
  15. I think this is perfect. There is no need to do Avengers or X-men, they have that covered with LIVE film. On top of that, the visual depth from Big Hero 6 will be amazing in CGI, especially for a 3D screening. Plus, it will be something that the majority of people will probably have no idea exists of much less that it's a Marvel property. I personally cannot wait to see how this turns out and I hope we get plenty more hidden gems like this on the big screen in the future!
  16. Well, it hasn't been deleted so I assume we can keep talking about it. This is specifically for the Video Game so it really belongs here anyway. I think the Marvel game looks Amazing! LEGO Batman 2 is probably my favorite LEGO game to date, and I'm kinda a LEGO Video game fanatic. The greatest thing, for me in LEGO B2, was the introduction of the open world. I also, love the LEGO games for original story. I own all of the TT LEGO Games, but the Batman games were the only ones to have original stories (not counting the newly released LEGO City Stories which is Wii U Exclusive and since that system is a failure, I don't count). They appear to being going to the same route with LEGO Marvel Heroes. Original story, with Galactus involved, you just can't go wrong. My only fear I guess is once Galactus is beat, where do you go?! But lets play the first game before we get too far ahead of ourselves. I agree with your statement about seperate games. I would LOVE to see a LEGO X-Men game, and who knows maybe one day we will. However, I think they strength of doing it this way is that we would probably get characters and moments that we probably wouldn't get any other way. For example, were does Punisher or Daredevil really fit? They couldn't support their own game and may be forced into an FF or Avengers game. But, they are doing Open World Marvel New York, so they fit perfectly there! All in all, this game is in my top three most wanted games for 2013.....and it may be #1. So excited!!
  17. Wow, I have been absent for a while, but I was humbled to see a Post that I started almost 5 years ago is still going. Well done gang! Personally, I've been playing a lot of Farcry 3: Blood Dragon, Fire Emblem Awakening, and the iOS version of Injustice Gods Among Us which is am amazing iOS game! Also, I'm back, so I hope to participate in more of the incoming conversations especially with the new Xbox and PS4 just around the corner.
  18. This game looks amazing. They are quoted as saying there is over 2000 characters: Seriously, this game may be the single greatest DC Fan service of all time. Plus, Scribblenauts is an amazing game. You can't go wrong!
  19. Ok, here's the deal, I finally work in a cool place where I'm planning to stay for a while. It's also in the technology field, so it's cool to be nerdy. And every day I stare at a desk that is just screaming for culture. But I'm having some trouble with decided what to do and I was hoping to find some help here. Couple of important notes: 1 - It is a work desk, and while I am a proud nerd, I don't want action figures, and that includes minimates (Sorry!) 2 - I am OCD, so I'm really hoping to find stuff that is preferably in the same line of toys or at least the same scale. 3 - I can't spend hundreds of dollars, so I'm looking for something decently priced. 4 - It is for a cubicle work desk, so I can't have very large things, think smaller scale. Ok, so here's where I am. I love the selection of Funko Pop Vinyl figures, but they're eyes man, they FREAK me out! I prefer the Muggs figures, but they are just so limited in selection. For right now, I'm leaning toward Funko's Wobblers because they look more adult than the Pop Vinyls, there is a good selection, and they are around $15 bucks each. But I'm still not sure. Any suggestions from the masses here. What do you guys display on your work desk (at a company, not your house) and what would you recommend?
  20. It's been a while since we've done this. Xbox Live: neolego Currently Playing Single Player: Skyrim, Batman: AC, Assassin's Creed: BH Multiplayer: Modern Warfare 3, Halo Anniversary (Also Reach), Madden 12 iOS: neolego Currently Playing Single Player: Infinity Blade, Jetpack Joyride, Cut the Rope, Angry Birds, Where's My Water, Super Scriblenauts, NBA Jam, Game Dev Story, Grand Prix Story, Batman: ACL, Family Feud, Words with Friends, Hanging with Friends, That's all I play anymore folks. neo
  21. Ok, two things. First, Ubisoft is having a pretty awesome sale on Xbox Live right now. Outland and From Dust is half price at 400 points. But, for me, the cream of the crop is Splinter Cell Conviction for $14.99 (or 1200 points). That is an amazing price for a full fledged, amazing game! I would recommend it to anyone. Second, Batman Arkham City Lockdown on iOS!!! Uploaded with ImageShack.us Just released today, it is basically an Infinity Blade clone. Now, don't get me wrong, Infinity Blade is great....and Infinity Blade with Batman is AWESOME! The game basically just takes you through a map fighting thugs working your way up to a boss fight. Joker, Two Face, Grundy, are all listed in the game. They also have Deathstroke as an iOS only villian. You can upgrade your abilities and unlock gadgets and even unlock skins like in the Console version. I've only played for about 30 minutes this morning but I'm digging it. It's $5.99 so waiting on a sale is always smart, but I do believe it's worth the $6 entry point and can't wait to get deeper into it. I'll update for more detail impressions as I play more! neo
  22. Ah, the old Multiverse. It's like I've been trapped in the Age of Apocalypse and just found my way back . Let's jump right in. It's been an amazing year for gaming. I spent most of my free time over thanksgiving just gaming as much as possible. I finished Batman: Arkham City and Modern Warfare 3. Both were really good. Right now I'm playing through The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword and The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. I find it hard to play both, so I'm really trying to power my way through Skyward Sword so I can then do nothing but play Skyrim until Mass Effect 3 comes out! neo
  23. Unfortuntly, I don't think that's the case. Everything that you download has 2 licenses. 1 to the console and 1 to the Gamertag. This allows me to Download Content to my Xbox and play it there. Also, on that same xbox, anyone else who signs in can play just on that xbox. Now, I can take that content to any other Xbox that I won't, but it will only be playable if MY Gamertag is attached to that console. In Short. You have to Buy the DLC to get the License. The only want you are going to be able to play that DLC now is to find not only the file to transfer for also either the Licensed Console or Gamertag. Sorry. Onto another note, I'm 2 missions away from beating Assassin's Creed 2 (Finally!) and 2 story achievements away from 1000gs! I really do love Assassin's Creed, may be my favorite current gen series*. I'm going to try and finish by the weekend so I can begin Brotherhood. Other than that I've just been playing the Summer of Arcade stuff. Bastion is amazing! *Mass Effect 2 is better than Assassin's Creed 2, but AC is better than ME (IMO), but ME3 looks MUCH better than AC: Brotherhood. Mass Effect and Assassin's Creed are my two favorite series in games, it's like picking a favorite child... . neo
  24. I am really enjoying the Summer of Arcade this year. I have played a little Bastion and then finally tried some From Dust last night. Both games are really fantastic. I love the art style of both games, Bastion is super colorful and the narriator is priceless. From Dust goes for a stylized real world look and it's really cool. I would reccommend both games to anyone! Also, on the 3DS front, Nintendo is dropping the price to $170 in August. That's great news because unless people start buying the system it's going to tank. It's interesting that, at this point, the only 2 Nintendo hardware that could be considered a failure are the Virtual Boy and now 3DS....both 3D systems. Not written in stone, but interesting to say the least. The 3DS was way over priced though so I'm really hoping this new price will attract the customers. I bought my 3DS on launch and I love the system, but the serious lack of games is poor business. Also, along with that news, anyone who buys a 3DS before the price drop and connects it to the Virtual store will receive 20 free games (10 NES, 10 GBA). I think that's pretty rad, I'm a happy 3DS owner and I'm glad I bought my system when I did, but it does feel great for Nintendo saying "Thanks" for buying their overpriced machine! neo
