Aethyr
Thought I'd give try to do a face decal for Zuko from Avatar, the Last Airbender. A full costume design (or two) for Zuko will come later. (pic currently unavailable) Oh, and no moustached variant of MAA. I couldn't do that to the character. <img src="http://www.minimatemultiverse.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="smile.gif" /> Edited February 7, 2012 by Aethyr
Aethyr
Finished two designs for Zuko. I might do a design for Aang if he hasn't already been done in Minimate form. Zuko (season 1) Zuko (season 3) Comments are, as always, most appreciated. Especially any comments about the Zuko face decal if there are aspects of it that need to be adjusted. Aethyr
Inertia from DC Comics Inertia is a clone of Bart Allen (Impulse), which means this is the 3rd character that I've created using the same design and altering the colours & hair. The 2nd Doctor Patrick Troughton's face was very difficult to depict at that size/style and I don't think I was able to successfully capture it. The clothes hopefully help to sell who the character is supposed to be. R2 Unit This came about from an experiment of how far I could push a design & still have it be a Minimate. It was one of those moments of inspiration of "I wonder if this would work". I've got a test mock-up that proves the idea can work. There is very little space between the leg & torso piece, so I'm thinking that as the body shell is a circle, there would have to be a compromise and the side be flat, while the front, back, & top remain round. Most likely a tricky custom for someone to make, but I think the end result would be worth it. Edited February 21, 2011 by Aethyr

Shamrock
Cool idea. I think if I were to actually make the custom I would stark with the Salaak torso, as it's thinner than a normal Minimate's and go fromt here.
TENIME_art
I started making an Artoo custom, but scrapped it. I was using a Juggernaut helmet & it totally worked.
Aethyr
Man-Spider (entry for the Alternate Universe Minimate Customizing Contest) The above figure is comprised of Spiderman-3 Minimates (1 wave 17 Black-Suited Spiderman, 2 wave 18 Unmasked Black-Suited Spider-Man, and the face from a wave 17 Peter Parker) and my first use of Super Sculpy. The inspiration for the custom was taking the name "Spiderman" at it's most literal and take the concept to it's most "body-horror"-ish. Then it was a matter of filing the parts so they became rough, painting the figure & attaching the Sculpy section. Sisko from Trials and Tribble-ations. Done by swapping Sisko's head & hands onto a Sulu body. Edited March 7, 2011 by Aethyr
Aethyr
Since there's a general lack of furniture & set pieces for Minimates, I've been working at developing objects that could be used for playsets/dioramas. Below is a 6-sided "mushroom" control console that's been the focus of my efforts so far. It's still a WIP as the central column needs to be created, and the panels still need to be done for decals/stickers. There is a plan to eventually create a 2nd version of the top panels that will have levers, dials and buttons. Nightwing & Batgirl posing by the console (for scale)

Aethyr
Printed out a test sheet on standard paper and taped them to some Minimates just to see how they'd look without wasting decal paper in case I need to go back and make adjustments. The printer I use is an ink-jet so it may not produce as clear an image as a laser printer. My camera isn't doing so well so I apologize in advance for the general blurry-ness. Impulse - DC Comics character. I'm going to be using a Dagger figure as it's all white and the various pieces can be easily covered/painted. Still not sure if there's an existing hairpiece that would fit his hairstyle during this area nor how I'm going to go about with his face mask. Any suggestions? Roger Wilco - Space Quest series. This costume (when I get the right shade of purple for the arms and grey legs) is going to be a generalized version of his costume from games 2-4 (and 1 VGA if you want). 7th Doctor - Doctor Who. While I think the sweater is fine and was happy when I initially designed the face, I realized I did the face to small as the eyes of other figures are larger. Getting the face right is something I'm having trouble with and could use some help. I used a agency photo of McCoy from around 1992 which I found on the net as basis for the facial design (mccoy11.jpg on the McCoy page on shillpages.com wants to have a look at the original photo). After discovering the first design was too small, I thought I could simply scale the picture up but it doesn't look right to my eye. I went back and redid the face using the same photo at a larger scale. Again, it doesn't look like McCoy to me. Any suggestions on what I can do to make the larger scaled faces regain a recognizable features of McCoy's face would be greatly appreciated. It could be I'm being overly critical but I've stared at these for too long and I think fresh eyes and opinions would be helpful.
Nessex
That looks like a big improvement! The best way to see if it is a good size i guess would be to crudely photoshop it onto the old figure? Like this! looks ok to me
Aethyr
Nessex, thanks for your opinion. It helped give me the confidence to go forwards. As such, I've finished a version of the 7th Doctor from the beginning of Battlefield when he's inside the TARDIS. Why have only one Doctor when you have 2 and 8? I also expanded into characters from The Sarah Jane Adventures starting with Luke Smith. Finally, to celebrate The Next Generation's 25th anniversary (and the fact we only got 1 crew member), I've created Bev Crusher. I've had to adjust the brightness in Photoshop to detailing on the torso and upper arms to be more visible.
Aethyr
The first custom I did was of a headless from the Ultima rpg series. At the time I didn't have sealant and put the figure in a case with the idea of spraying it when I did get sealant. This didn't happen and when I looked at the figure again the original colours where showing through the paint. So I removed everything I'd done, used various solutions to remove much of the factory paint and redid the paint job for a mark 2 version. The character below is Lucas MacGuffin from MacGuffin's Curse by Brawsome with which I helped. The game is coming out next month (Apr. 19th if I'm not mistaken) and I realized I'd be able to make him fairly easily and I thought it'd be fun to show him to Brawsome's founder (who thought it looked terrific). Aethyr
Look out ladies, He's BACK! Larry Laffer, star of the classic Leisure Suit Larry series from Sierra On-Line has returned in Minimate form. Finished Larry last year and forgot to post him. With news that the Leisure Suit Larry Kickstarter successfully reached its funding goal, now seemed like the time to post. Aethyr
Made Sam & Max for the Dynamic Duo Customizing Contest. Sanding was done to Max's legs, torso, and hip piece, so he is slightly shorter than Sam.
