  1. I have no doubt this will kick some ass on the disc. Chris Cornel amazes me still, such a rich voice. Which is probable why I want to wait until I have everything set up to watch this for the first time.
  2. Are you talking about the flashback scene or the chase scene? I haven't seen this since it came out in theaters. One thing I did read was the flashback scene is a bit hazy, but it is meant to be. Kind of wish Quantum of Solace 3 disc version would come out. Was almost ready to buy that one and heard some rumblings about that on one of the blu-ray forums. So I'm going to wait. Right now I'll just watch the Bond films on Netflix until the new one's hit. Since there are only a few I want to actually own
  3. I don't think you are going to have a unsympathetic ear in this forum. While most of my Minimates will fit into a medium sized box, I have plenty of stuff to take up the small area of our attic. However if I keep things up, I'm going to have to expand it to the entire length of the house
  4. Just traded my 3 disc version of Casino Royale for it's blu-ray counterpart last night. Looking forward to checking that out once I get the tv and sound bar on the wall With all the excitement of errands, our son's Santa photo's and a date with my wife, we forgot to do this and watch Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy. Haven't seen that since it originally hit cable and hope I like it better this time
  5. Since we got the new tv I haven't been on much lately myself. I'm not sure why, but I'm actually going to bed with the rest of the family You'd think with the new toy I'd actually be up late playing my 360. Maybe when I get it mounted on the wall things will change. Mine is still The 1st Donster btw
  6. Exactly MMM, thanks for pointing that out. My wife remembers more about the books than I do and said the same thing. Hopefully this means that we'll see more of in Part 2. That is something I really want to see
  7. WOW, amazing picture. Is this what it is like for people who get glasses? It is now so hard to watch tv down stairs now Really stellar colors and couldn't be happier. Thanks for your input on what to what, I'll check those out.
  8. I honestly don't want to ruin it for you Lurch, but isn't where you thought. Like others have said, followed the book very closely. Kind of wish they had done that with the last couple of movies now. As far as the sword, the sword was explained a couple of times in the movie. And this is coming from a guy who got up to pee twice
  9. Got a question about watching dvd's on my blu-ray. Got that awesome pixelated picture on the last disc I was watching. So I was wondering if anyone has run into this. Is this due to the quality of the disc, since I know Panzer-Davis doesn't put their best effort on there dvd's. I ran into this with a Venture Bros season dvd on my 360 back in the day, which is probable why I'm not stressing things too much. Going to watch Crazy Heart on blu-ray later and see if anything happens before I go into panic mode. I'm hoping it is just a glitch on the disc, not the player. I like having all of my components working off of 1 remote
  10. I hear you BHM. I'm currently watching the last disc of Highlander The Series Season 5 and feel the same way. The blu-ray cleans it up as best as they can, but it still looks a little fuzzy in some spots. I did a quick google search and apparently they weren't able to do a true 1080p on the blu-ray of the 1st few season Guess I'll be sticking with what I have for now. Gotta love these shows that were done on a shoe string budget.
  11. Like James Bond, I'm glad I didn't pick these up when the boxed set hit. I just got Crazy Heart delivered from Netflix. So I guess that one will be our first blu-ray movie we play. Added Narnia and Hitchhiker's Guide to my que along with Dr. No. I want to see how some of the older movies look on blu-ray. I now the newer stuff looks spectacular or should, but I wonder about the transfer of movies that weren't digital?
  12. Sounds like this is appealing to the wives Neo. My wife has actually been talking about it and the holiday bundles. Unfortunately with the 360 in the bedroom, I think it would be a waste for us. If I can ever finish this damn upstair project, it could probable work in the spare bedroom. While I would love to upgrade to the new console, I'm not really interested in using the Kinect. That's just me though. Don't think I was much help, sorry
  13. Nah, not yet. He's still young enough that he barely has enough attention for Sprout We have those 2 on dvd and are trying not to get anything that we already have on blu-ray just yet. Looks like Inception has made the list. Wondering if anyone is going to have any store exclusive contenton their disc? We missed watching that at theaters because we were at SDCC when it hit and don't think we can wait for Netflix to get it in January
  14. The recent conversation about cussing got me to thinking too. A show I kind of got into was Spartacus: Blood and Sand and I highly recommend it, but I thought the cursing was a bit over the top too. As the show and my wife pointed out though, cursing was a part of everyday life back during that time. I was actually surprised at my prudish behavior given the words that come out of my mouth. Of course with a little guy, I'm trying to clean up my act a bit. Back to topic, Neo, I heard the same thing from someone else on another board about Pixar stuff. I have noticed that animation really gives the picture a punch. Might see if I can get Lex to watch The Incredibles or Finding Nemo. He definitely liked seeing Elmo on the big screen. Might wait for the hype to die down or a great sale and pick up the Toy Story trilogy down the road. Another friend suggested The Godfather Part I and II. I'll probable rent those though.
  15. I hear you guys when it comes to audio. The only reason I didn't get one was this was for the bedroom. When it comes to our family room or living room, that will be an entirely different story and I'll probable go a little higher end for those sets and systems. I'll check out Deadwood, but will most likely rent it. Funny thing about Bladerunner, I was actually looking at that set yesterday at Target. Right now it looks like Star Trek is on me and the mrs. must have. Another one I'm thinking about is Hellboy 2, which was a visually pleasing movie. Kind of bums me out that Del Toro won't be directing The Hobbit, but glad Jackson is instead. As far as the technology being obsolete in a few years, I'm also not concerned. While I do stream most of my shows through Netflix, the one's I buy will be keepers that I consistently watch.
  16. Thanks guys, appreciate the feedback. I'm definitely not going to go out and replace my dvd collection. That is, unless the price is too great to pass up Since this was for our bedroom we didn't get the top of the line stuff. TV, player and sound bar and with as great as the tv sounds I'm doubting we need that last one So I'd advise against the 3D BHM. For me, it feels like a fad or gimmick. I could be wrong, wouldn't be the first time, but like the Kinect for the new 360, I just don't see the point of having that as part of my home entertainment The money you save on that could go towards a home entertainment system that rivals a movie theater. Anyway, just upgraded our movies to blu-ray at Netflix and we'll let that decide what is going in the permanent library down the line. Quick question, what is the difference between it and Vudu?
  17. We finally pulled the trigger and got a flatscreen television for our bedroom. We saved so much money, that we were able to pick up a blu-ray and sound bar. Although the amount of volume coming out of the tv, I'm wondering if we need it So I was wondering what folks can recommend in the way of blu-ray movies? While we initially plan to watch them through Netflix, I am looking for one's that are worth buying too
  18. I think I've come close a few times, but been so damn persistent in the past that it paid off for them to send me the stuff. Pickle, I can recommend better forums to actually trade in. Neither one of those forums are on my high list of trust worthy members, least of all Fwoosh. I only participate in my local sightings thread and occasionally trade with some of the locals. Others than that, I mostly do a bit of trading over at Action Figure Insider these days. Members are pretty fair and can't trade until they have at least 50 posts. I kind of like communities like that and here at MMV, where the staff work hard to insure the safety of the community. Still, I hope you get your figures in the end.
  19. I agree. If not for anything, but to show what a mistake it was to cancel this line
  20. Nah, BHM is the creepy uncle you tell your kids to stir clear of and don't let borrow any money
  21. Let's just make sure we're using spoiler tag folks. That way I can read around things and hear what you thought about the movie We probable won't go until next weekend because of a lack of a babysitter until then This is basically my wife's Star Wars or LOTR. She remembers more about the books than I do. So I'm really hoping that our plans don't fall through. It would be awful if our plans fell through for a 2nd time, considering we don't go out that much anymore
  22. For those with a On Demand option, some cool behind the scenes and the SDCC were on the AMC link under Walking Dead last time I checked.
  23. Is that supposed to be a bad thing karamazov80?
  24. I think I'm some where in the middle of you guys when it comes to Black Ops. I stayed up last night and wrapped things up. While I don't think it is the best COD, I don't think it is the worst either. I can definitely see where TBT is coming by, nothing really original here. I had the plot figure out early into it and hated their "tribute" to Deer Hunter Still, it had a good pace and I'm hoping I fair better in this multiplayer than COD's Thinking I might go back to Force Unleashed before tackling the sequel to brush up on the ways of the force.
  25. I vote no ban, since half the crowd wouldn't know who they were if it wasn't for Glad you made it over here PB, good people here
