holy crap.. wasnt familiar with a few of the characters but after doing my research .. im just blown away by the creativity of some of these customs! bravo to all

thats what i thought the hat was made from.. i wanted to try doing the black light with my Captain Marvell custom but could never come up with the blacklight to do it.. plus my Capn. isnt as see through as your Tron is. But bravo on a tough mate to tackle.

whats this stuff about stars?? i dont have any stars?? btw i love the use of ghost riders jacket!!! but seriously Drgnbrn your stuff is great. You pull characters out of obscurity and make some really great customs out of them... hell i have to look up who they are sometimes but the work you do is really impressive. i still want to know about these stars...

ive got to know what you used for the helmet, and like i said in the contest thread id love to see how he looks under a blacklight.

i went through about 3 different guns before I remembered the perfect worthless minimate sized gun.. gave it a little of this and a little of that and ended up with a pretty spiffy looking ray gun for Flash Gordon.

WoW Jcastick Tron was my second choice for scifimate. Glad I went with my first idea. Very very cool man!

I thought long and hard about my character for the sci-fi mate contest, and decided to go old school.. really really really old school I looked over hundreds of pictures of different outfits that have worn.. i chose a combination of these two that I thought would best translate to minimate form I present to you Flash Gordon !!!!!!!

The Statesman is the CoH guy... im currently trying to decide/figure out how to do some of my wife & I's characters from World of Warcraft... not sure how im going to work those out just yet.. as for dying Captain Marvel.. its a trick used on changing the colour of transformers.. figured plastic is plastic.. so i dyed a clear minimate.. ofcourse i had to touch him up with a blue sharpie

ty.. im still trying to toy with my lighting to get him backlight and so you can actually see more of his see-throughness

wow.. great idea on the logo mates.. i want a pair.. deceptimates and autobotmates!!!

my favorite thing about the 'joe mates is that they are all simple and they hold that quality that makes a minimate what its supposed to be you took what could have been an overly detailed character like Cobra Commander and minimate-ized him just about perfectly!! Great Job as always

Ty for the compliments B24.. with out your design id have painted on the boots and the gloves would have been different, but your design was much easier to work with. & Highassroller I've only ever worked with paint.. im too lazy to learn decals. and the only display my customs get (along with all my other 'mates) is for my personal enjoyment and the dismay of my wife ive got one im working on right now that im not sure how its going to turn out.. i dyed a clear 'mate and i think the colour is a little dark.. but i think ic an work around that part of it.. if i ever get around to stop playing WoW enough to actually work on him a bit mroe

from the looks of it i think its supposed to be like that perhaps its lenticular and changes from spidey to venom?

help me add some see through colour to a clear minimate! and teach me about sculpty!

many thanks for all the compliments.. ive got a couple more that im.. working out in my head that i should start working on here shortly but once again many thanks btw anybody have any tips on adding colour to a clear minimate while retaining the clearness of the minimate.??

dont know if i have a steady hand.. as i have more the willingness to paint and repaint something til it looks right ... to me atleast.. ill have to crack out some of the older customs and repost them

ty i know that the old hand painted way is so dated now with all these decals etc. but its what works for me.. albeit limits me because my skill on the faces is little to nonexistant.. but i can do the other stuff decently

Thoughts while I was adding some new pics I'd organize this a little bit better also some time this weekend Ill dig up the old customs from the old AA board and post those in here as well. and now I proudly present to all of you The Ghost who walks, the man who will never die, The Phantom Newest Custom Colossus!

ill have to get around to either finding the old pics or taking new ones.. all my minimates are in a few tackle boxes atm.. but i will.. or if there is a specific one you want i know i dig it up

hey.. used to post customs a long time ago.. been busy with RL and playing WoW. Looking back into maybe doing a few more customs here and there. It looks like this is the new place to hang.
