  1. Well i hate to be the one bringing bad news (but that seems to be one of my main functions here!! )

but the 24 minimate line has been cancelled, probably due to poor sale's of past waves :(

obviously buying multiple sets for custom fodder did nothing to boost sale's

RIP 24 you'll be missed (i really wanted that axe from the 2-pack :( )

On a serious note ,any cancelled line is bad news but will we really miss it?

On a less-serious note you really do remind me of that famous WWII hero........Corporal Frazier from Dad's Army....''Weer doomed,doomed.....doomed I tell yee'' :(

I would so dearly love 'Dad's Army Minimates' :D

  2. 'i think their buying in large amounts from the US for us in the UK which i'm glad for as hate getting stung for custom's charge's

£12 for a set of minimates

    £12 shipping

    £4 vat charges

    £9 handling fee

    total £39 :( '

Aside from the bad maths the above is just pure crap. I'm a UK minimate fan and I've bought all BSG and Trek waves from the US. I got all wave 2 trek (inc variant) and BSG series 3 (inc variant) for £25.00 all in including shipping and no customs charges. This is about standard. To buy the same at my local store would have been £47.92 at £5.99 a pack!!!!

So what no UK sales, it won't effect me in the slightest. :)

I note that Cornerstorestorecomics are offering new waves at $24 + $10 shipping to UK which is a darn good deal from a darn good company.....but this is a reaction to many of us getting in touch with US suppliers to deal with heavy shipping charges.

The customs charge is NEVER a problem if your US supplier helps by saying your items are gifts, it's not a problem to them unless they are sussed by customs because it's fraud. Customs & VAT charges are NEVER a problem to anybody until THEY are the ones that are randomly chosen, then it's a problem & trust me you will be chosen.

Winkerbeans scenario is 'worst case',he knows that but what I want to know(& I guess a few others) is where do you buy from bearing in mind the waves you mention are not the latest on offer?

  3. How would one phrase that? "How many minimates to yall keep in stockpile? You sent out several older mates for the Target giveaway, yet I was unable to get a Taskmaster/US Agent 2 pack that just came out when mine came with parts missing? Is there some quota for how many yall keep on hand?"

Yeah actually, that sounds okay. :P

    ...... needs a bit of work,yall think?

  4. I kinda need some assistance from anyone who collects C3 sets. I was doing my daily Ebay search and I came across the Supes & Darkseid Throne Room set for 4.99 + 6.00 shipping. I tried Googling to see the comparison pricing on it and only saw 24.99 and one for 15.00 bucks. So I'm guessing I got a good deal, right? Thanks!

Reason I ask is because until recently I have been strictly Marvel Mates, and I am just getting into DC. All I really know is that they don't make C3 anymore.

Supes/Darkside ,C3 pack $4.99 +$6.00 is an excellent price but your Target Prof.X set takes some beating @ $2 :):)

  5. I got the US Agent/Taskmaster 2 pack the other day. (thanks minimadman!) Great set, a little warped, but Taskmaster was missing his left glove. He had his right glove and a little hand, and the box was sealed. So I can only figure it just never made it on there. I emailed DST and they cold me they don't have any more packs so they can't send me a replacement. They also don't have any other packs with similar pieces (cap, sue storm) so they can't even send me a glove to paint.

Not a huge loss. TM still has his tiny hand with which to wield his shield (what's up with those new shield holders anyways?) it just looks a bit funny.

So my question is this. I don't know how toy companies work. I do know they don't have huge warehouses full of product because their job is to sell it, not store it. But why don't they have more replacement stock on hand? It seems a little odd to have a set that's less than 3 months old and be out of circulation.

Whilst I could give you lots of logical reasons why they wouldn't have replacement stock on hand I am inclined to agree with you that it's frustrating that they don't. I wonder if in this instance it's because many people had many problems with this particular set & they've sent them out as replacements already :(

  6. Now Corndog is a different 'kettle o'fish' he was one of the driving forces at Palisades before it folded. Before I collected 'Mates I accumulated all the Palz figures & a lot of prototypes from each of the X-Files ,Die-Hard & Buffy Series' which I bought mainly from Corndog.

To follow up on my earlier comment ,collecting Palz prototypes left me 'Broke &...... bandy-legged' :)

  7. just got an e-mail saying that the classic BSG box set's & the For A Few Dollars More box set's are coming out soon too.........

For A Few Dollars More. This box is bloody brilliant ,mine arrived yesterday & one or two of my friends(not fans) actually commented that they 'wouldn't mind some of them' when they inadvertently saw them . Not an 'earth-shattering' comment you might think ....you don't know these guys! The detail on the characters are incredible with a whole range of weapons included.I was sceptical about this set but this particular set takes the'little buggers' to another level, whilst simplicity works with some 'mates ,the detail on these is spot on.

  8. I've always been a Marvel fan but the DC Series' are superb. Being a completist I originally bought a single set of each Series but I'm just waiting on a delivery of er....um....some more....& they are not that easy to get hold of. I'm not saying it's hard but they (as a series) are becoming rarer ,rapidly. I don't believe this the end at all - gut feeling .

  9. I check UK eBay pretty much everyday and haven't seen a Symbiote Spidey on for a long time. I don't like buying from US eBay. No real reason for it, but I feel uneasy and the postage can be quite extortionate from some sellers.

Also your Kyle is a great custom! Nice work.

ah, i've never had a problem with ebay US, and there are a few sellers dedicated to minimates, which means combined postage is excellent ('the minimate shop'.. is £2.50 for loose figs, not matter ow many you buy). i've never bought minimates from UK ebay, there's never anything you can't pick up from forbidden planet or play.com

That is one hell of a collection & you've only been collecting since Nov.07 ? Incredible. You mention Forbidden Planet which I used to love as a company. Today on the FP Web-site they list 92 'mates items, sounds good but only 9 of these items are available,26 are pre-orders & the rest are 'currently unavailable'......I guess you cleaned them out :) Like yourself,I found that US ebay the only way to go. Stunning collection.

  10. Would you consider giving the 'Multiverse' website a small credit on your forthcoming packaging ? I believe this would be extremely advantageous to yourselves with regard to 'first-time' buyers who may be unaware of the diversity of the Minimate range, where else would they find out?

If you are receptive to the idea perhaps you could utilise the redundant area on the packaging which was specific to sales in Europe!

  11. Too bad we will never see Iron-Cow's work on Waves 9 and 10. :(

Awwww, thanks fellahs! Truth be told, though, I don't know if you would have seen it regardless?

I was going through some major burnout during my contribution to the DC line (and please remember, it was a team effort with a lot of people involved) I only handled the Ambush Bug, Clayface, Flash and Grodd from the latest wave, and only did the Sinestro/Salakk from the next batch.

Aside from the Cybermen and CyberController from Doctor Who (and the probably never-to-be-released Kelloggs stuff), that's it for me. At least for awhile.

I've spent the past year refocusing on my portrait painting, which has been a bigger passion of mine for awhile now.

The figures were a BLAST to work on, though, and there are a lot of talented people who contributed to the line. Hopefully if the next wave DOES see the light of day, it'll live up to the standards that have been set before. I'm hoping we'll see another 100+ DC Minimates, personally! And, who knows? I'd love to continue helping out with the line, so never say never.

Keep the fingers crossed. And I'll be right there with ya, hoping for more DC Mates!

    Matt

    aka Iron-Cow

I love this forum but let's be honest,we can go days on end with threads of pure conjecture & others of pure crap(including some,if not all of mine)& then you get one like this that is just so....enlightening. Dr.Who 'mates suddenly become reality,DC 'mates might be less than dead & the guy isn't complaining about 'Ambush Bug'...oh no!... he f**king 'handled it  Read that line again & rejoice.....'Aside from the Cybermen & CyberController.....that's it for me'....

  12. I think that those people here who ultimately will be doing the 'donkey-work'* & being 'the dog's-body'* in organising Charitymates should have the final word/veto on which charity is supported. I think the theme is pretty much cast in stone but should not influence the choice of charity .That's my 'five eggs worth'*

    *poor puns intended

  13. Well, because its Superman's 70th birthday this year maybe DCD could release a Gold Superman Minimate or something to

coincide with Superman's 70th anniversary.I mean back during Superman's 50th anniversary Kenner was going to release a golden Superman figure for their Super Powers line.

    Just my opinion.

    S.S.P.

    Excellent opinion & a great idea !
