  1. some times fo shizz they do that my home computer does them fine the one at work does them as you said a hair bigger, just trim a little inside the black lines instead of on them or outside of them

and photoshop is pricey i "borrowed" a copy from work, i'd ask around and see if anyone you know has one you can "borrow"

just thought i'd stick this in, all the talk of how cool a mandarin would be inspired me....

Not only is that a brilliantly accurate rendition WB but you actually called him M..A..N..D..A..R..I..N.....friggin awesome

  2. I ran a printing company for twenty-odd years in the UK & copyright was always something we had to be careful about. People would often ask us about using various images(etc.) that they didn't own & it's a bit of a minefield. I've just read the links & the replies TM2D highlighted & this is all a bit ambiguous. I was going to present a few facts about copyright law ,as well, but I have also Wiki'd up about US copyright & it is currently quite different from UK law! I quote merely an example (according to Wiki) 'In the US all books & other works published before 1923 have expired copyrights & are in the public domain' which is as far as I know quite different from the UK ! The way I read the Orphan Works Bill is that if nobody is claiming copyright then anybody* else can.

    * Skynet....sorry Google...

    Legalised bootlegging in effect

  3. Spider-Man AF ? Crimson Dynamo and the mandrian?

I've been a little out of the Minimate loop, but those sound awesome, what is the average retail price.

    Any pictures?

Early pics are unavailable but here's what the Crimson Dynamo looked like post-638-1208123028_thumb.jpg & here's a couple of Man-drain (I know you meant Man-drain & not Man-drian)picspost-638-1208123069_thumb.jpgpost-638-1208123106_thumb.jpg

oh yeah.....here's one of the Mandarinpost-638-1208123568_thumb.jpg

Average retail on the Man-drain.......priceless

  4. OK, so I want BSG Wave 2, which is like $12, but postage on that is $20 to UK. Seems a little steep to me. Or is that fairly reasonable? That works out to be approx £16 for the whole wave though, so I suppose its not so bad.

BBTS is currently selling these at about £18 inc. shipping. The only ones currently available on UK ebay as a set of 8 are 5 pence short of £40  I've said it before Dan,buy a couple of items & save with combined shipping.

  5. good christ...someone get this thread back on topic!

I'm afraid Christ is still getting over Easter but as I'm one of his fans I'll try to help.............

Strictly speaking this is a 'Wacky Palz' pic & has been on my profile page since I joined, unfortunately (maybe fortunately ;) ) this is the only copy in existence. AMOW!

    .....now she's 9.9 :P

Right now we are back on topic :)

  6. Can some one help me out! im not sure what a custom case is..... :(

A wave is generally 3 'common sets of 2' + 1 set which contains a duplicate 'common' + 'a variant figure'. Retailers buy a 'case' of 12 sets of 2 figures. These 'normal' cases contain 4 sets of 'A' ,4 sets of 'B',3 sets of 'C' & 1 set of variant. In a nutshell each case contains 1 variant pack. With a custom case there are 3 complete waves (3 x each set inc. variant).

    Got that?

yes...? so its just more varients?

Yes ....'just' more variAnts . There are 'just' 2 more variAnt packs in a custom case, making 3 variAnt packs. Perhaps I should emphasise that the cases cost roughly the same as a standard case which contains 1 variAnt pack.

  7. Oh, and the nude Spidey is still there. Avoid page 8 like the plague.

it looks really cold in that picture as it seems to have caused some shrinkage in Mr Spider-man's "web shooter"........

I saw this a while back but it looks like they've deleted the 'naked' Dr.Octopus ,the one where he's got the 4 mechanical testicles...

  8. 'The candle that burns twice as bright burns half as long and while it goes against the grain,it's better to burn out than fade away'.

I have read more DC comics in the last 6 months than I have read in the last 30 years purely because of DC Minimates & my enquiring mind.......I hope you see my point.

  10. I wasn't saying AF Spidey was a bad variant, I was just saying that some would argue that artist specific variants are a bottom-of-the-barrel approach to variants. First appearances are iconic and I'd say that AF Spidey is the benchmark in the modern Minimate day Spidey.

I have actually wanted people to say 'nice things' about AF Spidey for ages. I took the opportunity today because no -one else seemed to have taken to him like I have. 'Retro ' is such a shite word but he's so .....retro.....so flippin' 'Kirby'.Love it.

  11. Don't forget the recent releases of Scarlet Spider, Zombie Spider-Man, and Zombie Wolverine, not to mention the upcoming Civil War Spider-Man. I think the more varied assortment allows them to be more selective when releasing a Spider/Wolvie variant instead of having to use them as a central theme for each wave.

Of course, one could argue that with the recent appearance of "Torment" Spider-Man and "Amazing Fantasy" Spider-Man means that the variant pool is starting to get empty.

''Amazing Fantasy'' Spider-Man is for me an instant classic & well worth the effort despite the myriad of Spideys we already had.

  12. partsy (par-tzee)

    1. adj. used to describe a Minimate with a pleasing number of auxilliary sculpted accessories; having more than the standard compliment of hairpiece, weapon and/or cape.

Those new Iron Man mates sure are partsy.

    2. n. the ceremonial low, scraping bow performed when Chuck enters the room.

Matt, when Chuck find out you let the wave 24 lineup slip, you better partsy like your job depends on it!

One part potato, two parts swede,3 parts minced lamb or beef, & a n'onion baked in pastry. Cornish Partsy

  13. The Complete Series including Mini-Series are available in a region 2 box-set.

Whoops, I'm realizing now that I was being U.S.-centric. My earlier response may have no bearing on how these things were released outside the U.S.

Just to double whammy you.... My US box set had the miniseries in it too ;)

    (sorry but couldn't resist!)

    T.

I believe the UK Region 2 box set has the digitally enhanced , final director's cut mini-series & Series 4. This includes previously unseen footage & is packaged with a Limited Edition hologrammed collector's tin . Only 125,000 of these were ever produced! Series 4 as you know was never shown in the US & included the controversial 'cross-dressing' episode ...............'Cylons in Nylons'
