  1. "try to get a picture of anyone wearing a MMMV t-shirt without them realizing it" Hehe. Ok, one mission is set. That will be very fun. Others?
  2. Ady - do you know who will be there? I know Donna will be at the talent search on Friday - any idea who will be manning (or womanning) the booth on Sat.?
  3. I thought this might be a fun idea for members who can't go to SDCC. Tell me some things I should do while I am there on Sat. Should I interview AA? Should I deliver a list of Minimate demands? Should I take pictures of Timbo in his Princess Leia costum? You tell me!
  4. So we are back to the question - why doesn't AA get on the ball with generic peeps? Army builders seem like a no brainer. Hmmm... I think I will ask them on Saturday. Maybe myself or TBT can take a list of demands/questions to AA. Should we start a new thread ...
  5. Actually, Playmobile does do small boxes of people only sets. They don't sell at Target but I have seen them in the upscale toy stores like Puzzle Zoo in Orange County. I presume they sell well in Europe where Playmobile is big.
  6. A thought did hit me while reading the above. I wonder if AA may decide to pick up the Marvel license from DST? It could be that Minimates aren't reaching DST's high end or high volume target consumer. Let's face it, we love Minimates in part because they are small and cheap. The market may be better suited for a smaller niche company like Art Asylum.
  7. Interesting points all. One assumption has been that only Spider-man and Wolverine can be successful at the mass retailer level. But the apparent success of Marvel Legends seems to counter that argument. I feel like DST did all the work figuring out the successful formula for Minimates and DC Direct jumped in at the right time. It will ultimately come down to profits. Will the diverse DC Minimates be profitable enough to make it past wave 3? Or will obscure characters peg warm in the comic shops? The buzz building around DC Minimates seem to imply success but maybe this will just be a "fad" that will run its course. I am optomistic though. I think Marvel will adapt and improve. DC Direct's line will pave the way for the next evolution. I also have great faith in the creative minds at AA. They are bound to add a new twist we never considered.
  8. Ok, I'm officially going. I will be coming down to spend all day Saturday (I'm staying in San Diego Saturday night). If there are any people meeting up on Saturday, send me a PM with the time and place. I will be doing a very special LIVE FROM SDCC coverage this year at the MMHQ. My hotel has wireless so I hope to have some great stuff uploaded Saturday night.
  9. Welcome Jim! These little guys are very addictive, so be careful.
  10. I added a new voting feature to MMHQ last night! Look forward to fun and interesting polls as being a regular feature at MMHQ! (Fujis and I are hard at work on more surprises!)
  11. I will be buried with my Minimates. Then 6000 years from now archeologists will debate whether my Minimate mummified corpse signified ruling status.
  12. Welcome Tony! And you get a bonus for mentioning Minimate Headquarters in your first post.
  13. Thanks Cappy! This will help in our investigation for sure. All - This weekend's article will be very provocative. I hope people feel free to leave rebuttals in the Comments section.
  14. Ha! I enjoyed your post. Mr. Excitable, you are one of the coolest guys around! Thanks for the awesome pics! Very funny!
  15. I am the eternal optimist. I predicted waves 12 and 13 in June but we know that never happened. I feel convinced we will get an AA exclusive. Perhaps a Gold Cylon/Classic Starbuck two pack? Or a Speed Racer two-pack.
  16. I will quit if Minimates ever spontaneously self-animate and become sentient. Imagine the sheer terror of waking up in the middle of the night to find yourself bound Lillipution-style with shoelaces and electrical cords. Hundreds of screaming and toothpick bearing Minimates surround your captive body. Poking and taunting, poking and taunting, endless poking and taunting. Finally, a frothing Venom gets up on your chest and tells you he is going to crawl up your nostril and devour your brain. At that precise moment, I would quit collecting Minimates. Until then I will keep my Minimates snapped shut inside their purple plastic prison.
  17. Have no fear, Fujis and I are cooking up some crazy new episodes.
  18. Wow! Big news. We now know why we haven't seen any new Minimates for awhile. AA and DST have been working to enter the Japanese market. Hopefully we will have some new fans join the addiction soon. "Konichiwa! Hajime mashite!"
  19. Ok, check out the dates announced on the DC Direct website for Wonderwoman/Ares and Batman/Omac 2 packs. The dates are July 12, 2006. The date of the San Diego Comic Convention. Could we be seeing preview packs on sale?
  20. I talked to the guy at my local comic book shop and he had some of the maximates. He believes the maximate pieces have been individually cast in resin and glued together. He speculates that you can fairly easily cut loose the glue and make the maximate articulated. Now, I don't have a maximate but I'm so curious. Who is going to be the first to "articulate" the maximate? Anyone up to the challenge? Now I've got to pick up a couple of these guys.
  21. Nunya. . . . . . Nunya Bizness. This wabsite is run by AdyCarter, Danny, and Shanester. It is a software package by IPB (I think). Ady is all powerful here so be careful not to feed him any MSG. Or certain other members who shall remain unnamed.
  22. How much do trekkie women cost? I've heard they can be picked up for as little as five latinum credits. But then again, you could save yourself some money and always try using Romulan mead.
  23. I hope to God you are referring to Cuboyds. In any event, I'd recommend avoiding the trekkie women just to be safe.
  24. If you don't hear anything, I'd be happy to relieve of the burden.
  25. Sorry MOC - I didn't mean to imply you were starting any rumors. In fact, I think you are owed our thanks for finding the error on the AFX website. How many people saw the ad, didn't order, and never said anything about it? Hopefully someone at AFX fixes the error. I really think people will avoid the Speed Racer Minimates if they think they are 2.5" tall and not in scale with the Marvel/DC mates. Thanks everyone! Score another win for the Minimate fan community!
