  1. Dozens of sweaty teens were stocking the shelves when I went this evening. And if that wasn't bad enough, no Speed Racer yet. I'll try again tomorrow.
  2. I know how you feel, MOC. Yesterday I had the TRU clerk check their online computer system. They had 12 of each Minimate set logged into the store. "They are called Minimate Speed Racer," she told me. Only one problem, I spent an hour searching the store for them and couldn't find them. Anywhere! Finally, the manager said he thought they might be sitting on the truck behind the store. Wha-what? Although their system computer manifest showed them as being in the store, they wouldn't be "in the store" until the overnight stock workers put them out. So much for the West Coast being ahead of the rest of the world. Tonight I try again. Wish me luck.
  3. Scratch sculpted each hairpiece. I would really like to eventually try resin casting or some type of mold casting. Maybe that will be my next challenge to investigate.
  4. I'm going to have to give Super Sculpey a shot using yours and TBT's methods.
  5. Messages sent. I believe all have been snapped up, but someone may still have a change of heart. So if you are still interested, send me a PM. I may make more in the future (I didn't even save one for myself). The work is exhausting though and gets boring. I don't want to even look at a hulk for awhile. Guess who's next?
  6. Similar to Cloneme's stuff, I use Magic Sculp. I can get it at my local hobby store so it isn't that inaccessible. I would recommend ordering either Cloneme's stuff, Magic Sculp, Milliput, or Warhammer Games Green Stuff. I believe all are two parts epoxy and hardener. They harden in a couple hours after you squish them together. It feels just like Sculpey but I think it is a tad bit stickier. This is good if you want to sculp more layers on a piece or attach directly to an existing hair piece. I use wax paper between my masks and heads. After the piece hardens you can slide the head right out. I do like Sculpey though and I need to revisit experimenting with it. I had the EXACT same results with my Sculpey and became frustrated with it. But I never tried the boil or hairdry method and I know many people sculp beautiful pieces with Sculpey. Another trick I use, Baby Powder. This prevents the clay or epoxy from sticking to your fingers or table or other things while working. Finally, to remove fingerprints from my pieces, I rub the piece with water. Kinda tricky but this works extremely well with Magic Sculp and eliminates creases, fingerprints, etc.
  7. Ouch. Spidey is really getting goosed. They see toys and action figures. I see kid slobber and carpet sticky. Yuck!
  8. The_Crippler - I just sent you a PM. Anyone else interested? If The_Crippler passes on this oppurtunity, there will be three left. If not, only two remain.
  9. Wow! Congratulations Danny! Your site was the inspiration for Minimate Headquarters. Thank you!
  10. And a have only a few left! Just sent you a PM, drgnbrn316. Suckers are going fast today.
  11. Completely new characters. None of the characters you know and love were part of the New Universe. The (central/most famous/recognized?) character from the New Universe was Star Brand. Marvel later tied Star Brand's history/timeline in with Marvel's Quasar. Don't ask me how. The Star Brand is the most powerful force in the New Universe. Read about all the characters here.
  12. The New Universe was an ill fated marketing gimmick begun in the mid-1980s by Marvel to launch a whole new line of comic books contained within a 'more real' universe called the New Universe. Time would pass just like it did in the real world and characters would change appropriately. The New Universe did not have mythological gods, magic, and other messy concepts that afflicted the regular Marvel Universe. Basically the 'White Event' was a singular flash that created all super-heroes on a single day. And Pittsburgh gets nuked a couple years later. Oh, and the U.S. goes to war with South Africa. Needless to say, the series tanked. I haven't read Exiles but it seems like a good question. What moral right do the Exiles have for mucking up and changing other realities?
  13. Just curious if you heard a reason explained for the delay.
  14. Marvel is launching the newuniverse (again) in December about an alternate Earth classified Earth-555 (oppossed to Earth-616 which is the Marvel-Earth). My prime comic book reading days were 1984-1989 so I remember very well getting all of the first issues of the New Universe. I seem to remember D.P.7 being my favorite. What are your thoughts on this new upcoming relaunch of the New Universe from Marvel? Dumb idea from Quesada or a new spin on an idea that never really took off like it should? I'm starting to wonder if we soon won't need the Anti-Monitor to visit the Marvel Universes and start culling the herd of alternate Earths like he did for DC in the 1980s. (Wow, I am turning into such a comic book nerd now.) What do you think of the New Universe?
  15. I would love to see more Giant Sized characters re-released. New fanatics to the addiction should have a chance to get their hands on these sweet babies.
  16. Check out my article on the subject here. http://minimateheadquarters.com/blog/2006/...-display-cases/
  17. I was told they will be stocked with the other anime collectors toys near the figures section.
  18. Thank you Donna. We appreciate the insider info!
  19. Same here in my parts of Los Angeles. No Minimates yet. Just the diecast cars.
  20. Just out of curiosity, how many people would like a custom made bighulk? Send me a PM.
  21. Thanks everyone! I need to thank MINI-MYTE for his great tutorial over at MMHQ, I pretty much followed it point by point. I'm still learning how to use everything but I'm pleased with how the first "bighulk" turned out. Later I will do a tutorial at MMHQ that hopefully adds to MINI-MYTES very comprehensive tutorial. In the meantime I still have some work to do.
