  1. cool pic! just looking at that picture makes me want the whole crew to get 'mated even more. yep, yep. y'know, it just struck me that it's been like 27 years or sumpin' since the first issue of "new mutants" hit the stands WAAAAY back in the early 80s. holy shit, i'm gettin' so damn old!
  2. right on, man. good for you, nessex! as for myself, i was sort of hoping for an "old school" new mutants box set and then a couple of TRU 2-packs to complete the original team. i'm happy for all the fans of the 90s x-books, but i was gone from mainstream superhero funnybook collecting at that time... so i have no real feel (or in some cases, no basic knowledge whatsoever) for most of these characters.
  3. When Psylocke first joined the X-Men she wore this: As she didn't have physical powers and this is way before she gained her martial arts mastery, she was sort of a liability in battles, so around Uncanny X-Men #232 she donned the suit of armor. In that issue she was thrown out of a window 3 stories up and was relatively unhurt. She wore this outfit almost the entire time that the X-Men were in Australia in the late 1980's. After she went through the Siege Perilous she was kidnapped by Mandarin and changed into the Asian ninja that we know the best. hey, thanks for the info! i'm still REALLY rusty when it comes to my early 90s mainstream comicbook knowledge (i stopped reading or collecting marvel AND dc funnybooks around 1990... and i didn't get back into 'em again until around '98 or so). karamazov: thanks for the link.
  4. how is your father doing, miry? i sure hope things have been going well since that last procedure.
  5. i guess i really don't know the betsy braddock character very well. this is an earlier version than the 90s era one? can you guys tell me more about this version of betsy??? side note: d'oh! sorry about the double post, gang!
  6. re: stilt man's helmet: nice call, bro! it IS a re-use of the yellowjacket mask, ain't it? and i am absolutely LOVING that 'mate... can't wait to get my grubby lil' paws on that bad boy.
  7. hell, yeah! i remember team america. holy shit, i'm gettin' soooooo old.
  8. good 'un! that quip kinda took me by surprise (and since i was drinking a glass of soda at the time i was reading it i was THIS close to doing a classic "spit-take" all over my computer screen. ). and, yeah: i'm with everyone else on that doombot 'mate--- i sure hope they don't just re-use that crappy, stiff hood/cape from the other 3 dooms. what would be REALLY cool is if we'll be able to use the (hopefully) new sculpted doom parts to make a better version of our regular doctor doom 'mates.
  9. sorry for the delay in my response. i'm still not quite sure exactly what ya mean, though. these are prose collections using marvel characters... and they are all published by boulevard? i'll do a search on amazon.com if you want me to--- they offer good deals on used books, and the shipping is reasonable. is there any particular character your friend likes best? just sent you a PM, buttheadsmate.
  10. hey, let me know the names and titles of the books you're looking for, bro... and i'll definitely look around for ya.
  11. i gotta pick that book up. i never got around to reading the series when it first came out, but the buzz has definitely been really strong on "kick ass". p.s. i loved John romita, jr.'s artwork on "world war hulk", too. the dude just keeps getting better with age...
  12. very cool thread! and i would definitely buy all 6 of those un-made 'mates (7 counting a comic-accurate version of the blob ).
  13. i'm so glad to hear that the surgery itself went okay!
  14. i'm currently watching season 3 of "mad men" on netflix. i LOVE that show.
  15. best wishes to you and your entire family, man. i have my fingers crossed that everything goes well.
  16. i've still gotta get around to readin' that biography on john cheever that came out last year... it's supposed to be really good.
  17. pixar level good, eh? wow, THAT'S high praise indeed! now i really wanna see this movie. but i have a 6 month old baby boy, so i'll just have to wait for it to come out on dvd. ahhh... going to the movies: i vaguely seem to remember how much fun that used to be.
