  1. "Er, hello, I'd like to order some medication for my friend. Actually, after what I've just seen, I'd better have some myself!"
  2. These last few posts bring up such an interesting topic for discussion I've spun off a new thread: What would help Minimates sell in mass market? Post up your thoughts there please.
  3. OK my "open plea" thread has gone off on a very interesting tangent. It's all very well me, "Keeper of the Minimate Flame" , saying to you hardcore guys to keep buying Marvel. Of course you will. You're all as mad about the line as I am. I'm preaching to the converted. But what ideas do we have to intice the mass market? How would we package/market Minimates to sell in target, or TRU, or Walmart? How would we make people interested and aware of Minimates? Put your ideas up here, should make for an absorbing discussion.
  4. Trouble is, is that I'm about as technically minded as a small ball of earwax. It's a miracle my site is as popular as it is with my limited HTML skills. I'd have no idea at all about an RSS feed. Erm, anyway, gratz on moving up the Google rankings. Just don't overtake me!
  5. I'm on it Rad don't worry! /ipban AndyCarter Why won't it work????
  6. Yeah and thsoe 8" nobbled ticklers were no picnic to get ordered I tell you!
  7. Again it proves no fucker reads my news pages. I'll have to have a rethink - maybe put news on the front page?
  8. Yeah it's not an exclusive club or anything (well, me, Rad, Ady and TITAN are the Hellfire Club, but that's another story ) The thread is just a way to help us poor UK Minimate fans who get diddly squat when it comes to promos and exclusives.
  9. Saw plenty of the Onslaught wave at my TRU in the UK. We've got it at the same time for once.
  10. Almost... too easy? I sense some kind of evil trap will befall our Ady now. It always happens in the movies!
  11. DST don't have any but in the past both DST and AA have had exclusives. Maybe AA will surprise us.
  12. I don't have a problem with it but it does make the MMMV/MMC banner look skewiff because one is centred and the other isn't.
  13. I've been thinking about this for a while. Despite running MMC I don't get as much of a chance to put across my thoughts as often as, say, JattaPake or Fujis at MMHQ, or Ady on here, because reviews aren't really the place for it, so I'll post my thoughts here and see what you think. The Marvel license is the Minimates crowning achievement. It put Minimates on the map. Before, the 3" Minimates suffered cancellation after cancellation. AA did not get any licenses that were sustainable. Then they worked with DST and got the Marvel license. Due to that license the Minimates went truly mini - the 2" scale that we all know and love. 11 waves have hit retail (specialty). Some of those waves had some bizarre choices for characters, and overall selection was weighted towards 3 or 4 "heavy hitters" who appeared in the line time and again despite being marketed to comic fans at comic stores etc rather than mass market. As time went on, it appeared that the character selection was being driven by what pieces were available to be reused and that has sullied the later waves. There has been an unforgivable delay between wave 11 and waves 12/13, and with the anticipation at fever pitch, the assortmant looks like a similar cop-out. On the one hand, focussing the waves on specific comics/relaunches is a sound idea, but no-one can argue that the characters chosen have been chosen mainly because they could be done with the currently available parts. And so we wait, and wait, and wait. Months since the last waves, and yet my craving for Marvel Minimates is still massive. Put simply, I want these figures. I am not totally happy with the way the line has gone, in fact I think it's been bodged quite spectacularly, but I am here because I love Marvel Minimates. First and foremost, that's what brought me in to the Minimates and that's what I want to collect. Please, despite any misgivings we have, we as the collectors and fans of Minimates must make sure this wave is a success. We must ensure that when the bean-counters at DST are looking at waves 14 and beyond that they see that the interest in Marvel Minimates is still high. That's the way we can get Abomination for Shanester, or an Angel for Fujis, or Tim's modern Iron Man. If waves 12 and 13 fail, we risk losing the line. And I for one do not want that to happen. Please don't let it happen. Support the line.
  14. I bought one, had to get it from JL though (cheers JL!) as it wasn't released in the UK. I believe I did a good job with my review and interview in promoting the set.
  15. Hope you have a good time Shane!
  16. Thanks for the sentiments but currently MMC costs me about the price of a couple of beers a month to run. I won't be getting adverts in any time soon. If I did, I would try to get ones like Stuckakid who are Minimates fans as well as a store.
  17. Signatured! And I want a Birds of Prey 3-pack! Huntress, Oracle and Black Canary. MMmmmmm.
  18. I am currently reading "Essential X-Men volume 6", which is giving me a hankering for either a New Mutants set or an X-Factor/X-Terminators set.
  19. If they're still on a parts reuse kick then the Shocker must be made! C-List Spidey villains will save the Marvel line! I still think you could have loads more viable Spidey enemies over a lot of the others ('cept we need a Red Skull!) Spidey's rogue's gallery is second to none.
  20. A small banner, yes of course that'd be OK. But if it were pop ups or large ads over the page, then no. edit Just to add, the above is my own personal opinion as a poster on this site rather than staff. I will fully comply with any decision The Regime decides is for the best!
  21. I was with you all the way up to "currently"
  22. The original show is camp and cheesy 80s fare, but it has a flare of personality that rises above any other considerations and makes it highly watchable.
  23. Yeah that "civilian Steve Rogers" is awesome too. I really like how that turned out, it's perfect.
