  1. I believe Zach recently stated the Marvel license is very specifically limited to 2" mates, and vinimates were not an option. DST would like to, but talk to the pencil pushers in charge. (what do we call them now that practically no one actually uses pencils anymore after school?)
  2. Let's be honest, Mr. Essex. Some of those updated characters were pretty sweet, and may not have happened without the push from the game. Super Skrull alone was such a ten-fold upgrade from it's original figure.
  3. The fact nothing was said or shown at SDCC is concerning to say the least. Also not sure how far out we are from the game being released.
  4. Well the impression you're giving Zach is this one minimate of a guy most of us were only dimly aware of until its release is now the anger inducing unobtainable Holy Grail of minimate collecting that breaks wills and shatters dreams into unspeakable madness like no other release before it. Two threads we've now devoted to if not complaining, then speaking ill of about its unavailability. Come on gang, we took that minimate you could only get it you bought a book no one heard of or care about (or something like that, a little Goth chick looking thing) better than this! And geez, T, we're not going to start down the "true" this or "true" that road, are we? What are we, Transformer or Star Trek fans? I get the point you're making, but gud gawd almighty, that word in any fan context brings back unpleasant memories of things that descended into board splitting unreadability when a "true" thing is defined.
  5. Disassembled in the line most long time collectors draw, yes, without question. And yeah, these days it's getting harder and harder to find people who haven't joined the some version of Avengers at some point. Although... technically Spider-Man joined the East Coast team at the same time as Sandman and Rage, well before Wolverine. He never served as an active member until New Avengers, but he was granted reserve when the team reorganized under the United Nations, then inactive/detached status because of the events of the clone saga. There were elements of Lionheart I liked, but there were several... frankly stupid things about her situation (If she reveals her ID to anyone tragedy will occur, so let's invite her kids who think she's dead to live with us so we can live dangerously while waiting to see just how long she can stand it before she reveals herself to them,. All in favor... motion carried!!) that prevent me from calling her the last "real Avenger". Which I suppose makes either Jack of Hearts or Scott Lang the last one. And it was very, very shortly after 300 Cap granted Moondragon, Hellcat, and Firebird full membership with his formal "once any kind of Avenger, then you're a full Avenger" announcement. I don't like drawing the line at 300, because IMO Quasar and Sersi were good additions to the team. I'd probably think more of Crystal as a member if Bob Harras hadn't gotten so bogged down in the whole messy love pentagon (Sersi loves Dane, but Dane loves Crystal, who loves Dane back, but also loves her husband Pietro, Pietro loves Crystal, and hates Dane. And Vision also fell in love with Crystal, despite her being married to his brother-in-law. And what about Naomi...?) that DOMINATED his run. Still liked the Gatherers though. Triathlon grew on me, Silver Claw not so much. Jack of Hearts was a good fit until Mr. DC brought back problems with his powers he'd long since solved. However... While Disassembled the natural line for adult collectors, for younger readers not so much. In fact most of them know only post New Avengers stuff. I know this because my 16 year old son has several friends who are very into comics. They talk about Secret Invasion as a classic storyline like I talk about the Korvac Saga. And as much a I want to "explain" how what they like is "garbage" compared to the "good stuff" from "my day", I bite my tongue a lot. Because whether I like it or not, they do. And relatively new comics enthusiasts need to be encouraged if we want to have ANY hope of the industry that feeds our Marvel minimates to survive. To quote a favorite bard of mine "The good old days weren't always good, tomorrow ain't as bad as it seems."
  6. @BuffaloDelorean well we could try to count Namor as FF related, but they've gone as far as putting an X on his belt to distance him from the FF.
  7. Actually I was referring to this which was shown at SDCC last week. Sadly there's been no new FF minimate product announced. A Wizard / Trapster two pack would be nice.
  8. @NerdyTrev No... Trank's film was a symptom of the FOX/Ike war over the FF. For whatever reason Fox cannot figure out how to make a solid Fantastic Four movie to save their life. Marvel is pretty sure they do. And as a result of the fight over the rights, Ike Perlmutter canceled the FF's book and literally sent half of them into near permanent Marvel Limbo(tm). And that the FF not be included in any new video games. (notice anyone missing from Contest of Champions?) Or that's the really persistent rumor. At any rate, Is it true? Or did the FF's book just happened to be finally canceled for dismal sales just before Trank's movie hit? And the lack of FF related merchandise from then until this year's Mr. Fantastic Walgreen's exclusive, that's just coincidence too.
  9. Dude... I gotta say after seeing the mind blowing images of just part of your collection, have you considered just taking a break instead of selling it all and walking away? A collection like that take years to amass, and dollar amounts I cannot fathom. Clearly you've really loved this line at one point. I understand getting burned out and something you've spent so much time at starting to feel like a drag and obligation more than anything else. I don't know you, I don't know your situation. But I can't help wondering if this isn't something you're going to regret in a few months.
  10. @pk13 apparently you missed the memo about photobucket and third party hosting.
  11. Another wave idea... Wrecking Crew wave. My thought here is though the Wrecker and Co are primarily Thor villains, they've actually jobbered around for a lot of different people over the years. Sooooo... Thor variant / Wrecker Spider-variant / Thunderball US Agent / Piledriver Hercules / Bulldozer technically you could count Walker as a Cap variant, and he fought them as a member of Alph-Omega Flight. They fought Ghost Rider, Excalibur, Heck just about everybody at one point or another.
  12. Completism is an ugly disease @DSTZach, it can make a man do strange, strange things. Remember these guys have chased mates of bakers before.
  13. @Kostisfire we're here because we enjoy minimates. And we keep hoping that the characters we want will eventually get made. But we also need to remember that our niche wants need to balanced against commercial viability. @NerdyTrev, there is at present no Fantastic Four to give love to. Ben's back in his black and red solo costume, which I'd love a minimate of. Johnny's new Unity squad costume would be welcome as well. His newest Inhuman girlfriend, Synapse could be included as a pack mate.
  14. There, adjusted it for you. I've always dreamed of a 4 pack sized pack with only 2 mates in it... Mimic and the Super-Adaptiod and the rest filled with part and accessories to change their looks. Actually have a better chance of getting a Wrecking Crew 4 pack than this, but its called a dream. Yeeeeeeah... I got used to non-X, non-Spidey taking precedence over the everybody else a long while ago. Thor, Iron Man, and Cap have made inroads, they are still not the sales draws X-folk or Spiders are. Check the numbers on the database. No, I get it. I do. But if you're going to have to make changes, you might as well go to more source accurate. YMMV (and I have no idea how this new feature works, or how to add it, but it certainly looks neat.) From appearances, the T:R Executioner looks about as close to comics as you can get. I'm waiting to hear about the inclusion of the all important Axe, and fingers crossed he get's his helmet too.
  15. The Director argued it was a comics accurate representation... and he was right, it was a descent translation of 1610 Abomination... kinda. My thoughts and comments on the ears are based on trying to adapt MustardSpikeosaurous into something more Abomination-y. Easiest way I could think of was to and a crocodilian skin pattern to the current design, exaggerate the nod on his head, combine them with the existing spine spikes to create the bumpy boney look of the classic Abomination. The Natural pattern crocs have on their brows and lips recreate an appearance similar to the way Blonsky has been portrayed. If MustardSpikes had been depicted with any kind of outer ear structure, IMO we could work the batwing ears into this design. Of just scrap the old design entirely and use this
  16. And once again we've drug a topic waaaay off topic. And it's partially my fault. Probably should drag the Supeior Foes wave discussion back to the Wishlist thread. But RedTiger95, Spidey's colorful gangsters are high on my spider-foe list too. Tombstone, Hammerhead, Lobo Brothers, the Rose; yeah I want all those guys.
  17. And Walgreens is getting an Abomination later this year... and it doesn't look bad... I'd have rather they used the older headpiece than the Goblin head. But that's niggling at this point. I know it's not a "proper" 616 Blonsky, but it'll due.
  18. Yes... that's the wave I had trouble finding... PM sent.
  19. Only one Hydroman in 15 years, and it was produced in smaller numbers than most mates of the era. Of course there are several other characters from the era that got their only release then, which is why I'm not on the Speed Demon needs a new mate bandwagon. Dude, Speed Demon can get his butt in line behind Hydroman. Well 3 out of four anyway. Ock from Luke's set works for well for me. Poor paint apps, and an honest to God error in interpreting wing color based on chosen reference images... it was such a let down because the designs themselves were awesome. We've seen the odd paint error before, the oddly colored accessory or QC problem here and there, but to have them show up in 4 of 4 mates in the same boxed set with such consistence was just... well...
  20. Hydroman. I was collecting mates when that 5 pack came out. Way before Luke opened for business. Only one or two places carried minimates online, don't know if BBTS even had it. Waited just too late to pull the trigger on it, and it sold out. Like within a day of coming out. I don't have many actually bugs me regrets in collecting in general, but I get a knot in my stomach every time I think about this one.
  21. You misunderstand me, "Old Man". We were talking about Marvel working some version of the MoE/T-Bolts into a MCU movie. I was speaking of a desire, should Marvel ever decide to bring the Abomination back into the MCU, that they give that design more crocodilian skin, add the head bumps and skip the ears to make that specific version of the Abomination more Abomination-y. In a live action setting, the 616 ears would look silly, IMO For anything remotely related to a 616 Abomination, the ears are absolutely essential, you're right about that. In fact the headpiece that was sculpted for our only comics based Abomination minimate to date is perfect. Wish the cartoon Abomination would have used that piece instead of the goblin head. I really loved many, many things about the Abomination mate, everything but the face design which didn't line up well with the headpiece (at least on mine). It's just mates in general have come a long way from the powerhouse chest and duck feet era.
  22. But... If every Avenger winds up on the wrong side of the "Accords" by the end of Avengers 4, then having Ross assemble a team of their foes to bring them in... called the Thunderbolts after his nickname... that could be fun. One thing... if they ever do bring back the Abomination... can we at least get him a more Abomination looking face? The spikes, the animalistic legs, they can stay. The plain green face bugged me. A little reptilian looking skin around the mouth and brow, the spikes/bumps on the top of his head, again, like a reptile... heck a more crocodilian skin texture over all would look better than molted green. No deep explanation needed, he just continued mutating while in custody. I get dropping the ears... not much way to make batwing ears not look kinda silly.
