Are you finding these in TRU or just on the site? The 3 TRUs near me don't have any of em on the shelves but the last marvel wave, a few left over origins, a few BSG and a few GB wave 3 (IM2 is lonngg GONNNEEE!- can you believe that?!). Dark Rein would be cool for that price, but then to pay more to have it shipped makes me not want to spend the extra cash.

well I've always wanted U2 mates and I finally made them. But if we are talking about factory mates, I would have to go with Eddie from the rock line since that was the first one that caught my eye in a Sam Goody back in the day of 2003. If we are talking about 2" then I would prob have to go with warzone punisher--that boxset brought me back to minimates after being away for 6 years. The funny thing about having characters like punisher around, is it makes you actually want 'boring' mates, like gangsters in suits and what not that the punisher spent a lot of time fighting.

I picked up first appearance yesterday at LCS, but now I wish I grabbed the X-Factor too (eventho they look VERY similar). Another trip back today, hopefully it's still there, they only had 2 of each set! The sets really look great, I haven't taken em otta the box yet. But they really look amazing in the box haha I kind of feel bad about taking them out. In fact all of these box sets have such great artwork, I really like it, I always feel bad about taking them out of the box. I also finally picked up a secret wars--I can't remember where I saw it, but people have complained about the green peeking over, for me though, isn't the whole point of this set to really have them have the skrull face? I already have 2 beasts myself, but now I can have a skrull beast! and another wolvie, do we really need another regular wolvie?--make him skrull wolvie, now ya got something! Anyway, out of the 1st app and x-factor, I think I like 1st the best of the two--having them in the very first way they appeared is really impressive. The other ones are def cool, and have more detailing etc, but there is something to be said for simplicity of the original art.

this was really great, absolutely FANTASTIC! I sent it off to a whole bunch of people haha! I've been workin on a few SF customs, I'll be posting them soon.

Perhaps slightly off topic, but I've been wanting to say it for a long time now...I just don't get Kubricks (literally and figuratively). I don't know their history--I assume they are the father of block-style figures. They look funky and not right to me somehow. They make me think of a pear-shaped-loser (seinfeld reference anyone?). Don't mean to insult any of you who collect both mates and bricks--maybe you can enlighten me.

I haven't printed yet--Doh, now I realize that it is white decal paper. So I guess that takes care of that question haha--this color matching isn't going to be easy. I assume I will never end up with a perfect match either..rats! I actually couldn't find too many options for decal paper. But now that I already have purchased it I'll just have to deal with it. Any suggestions for color matching? Anyone notice that minimatefactory site is down?

I have a stupid question--I'm about to attempt my first decals today, to be more specific, I am working on guile from SF--basically I am using a head arms, and torso that already have the default minimate fleshcolor so I don't want flesh color coming from the decal. Basically, does anyone know of the best way to make the already created decal (**thanks to Luke's Factory!**) transparent except for the facial features and eyes? I will need to do this for a a few other SF customs as well as I have already painted the heads the colors I want. I'm using Adobe Photoshop CS4, I've used the magic tool to select and color the decal white, however I am worried this will cause the decal to actually be white and not transparent (or clear except for the facial expression). I'm trying to minimize on the trial and error to waste this expensive paper. Thanks for your help!

This is fantastic! I like how you have Tony working on the armor, I think that's actually my favorite part. The background music really brings it all together too!

found em in TRU white plains NY, only a few packs tho, they were already basically wiped out! Is there anyone here who frequents that one? I was able to pick up the whiplash, black widow and mark v iron man sets. Others were gone, altho I think those are the best of the wave. Also for anyone going there, they are not with the IM 2 stuff, they are down another isle with the video game figures. The drone sets don't do a lot for me, altho i haven't seen them in person. based on pictures, they look like they are unfinished or something.

I'm gonna check TRU in White Plains NY on my way home tonight and see what's there. I stopped by on Weds and there wasn't anything...

Characters: Sagat Ken Guile Vega Zangief--does anyone know if his mohawk runs down the back of his head, or is it just on top, I was never sure. Balrog Dhalsim Blanka Maybe Cammy--haven't decided if I will make her, she might turn into Eve from V. Here are my questions for pondering: 1. Vega: would it be better to decal the mask on, or sculpt the mask on? Would it be better to do both? sculpt a flat mask and decal the 'face' on? (Same question goes for V for Vendetta guy). As opposed to, sculpting the mask with eye holes and painting the features on. I ordered something similar to apoxie sculpt 'amazing sculpt' because it was significantly cheaper--running out of money for these projects haha. Some other background info: I am using acryl paint--haven't done any clear coats though--not so sure yet what the best practice would be for that. I have never used decals before, I just ordered a laser decal sheet from Luke's store. I went ahead and drew all of Sagat and Balrog's features. I would like to try and decal everyone else though to make it look more professional--face and torso for everyone. I'm afraid it is too late for Sagat and Balrog it would be impossible to match the paint again. Thanks for your help!

Forgive my stupidity if this was already discussed...has anyone found this in TRU yet? I saw one set on their site as being "Out of Stock" I know there's a borders exclusive, but there are supposed to be others in TRU right?

I was initially going to post something else in case anyone has already read my post--I just want to say, nice customizing! Let's not judge people and turn it into a big huge argument over politics. This is the fun minimate forum/site and I come here to relax for a bit. So let's focus on the customization of a minimate and not the politics of it. Peace and love to everyone!

Besides those printouts from millionaire playboy, has anyone been working on any dioramas? I'm working on figuring out how I would like to do the courtroom scene. I think I might print out a few screen shots of the movie to use as background, then maybe craft a table or 2. maybe a 'fence-like-thing' the courts always have. Also, somehow get the judge's area to pop out a bit to make it 3-d. I was thinking of finding some birch wood, and make it broken up a bit. I've been working on creating a scene similar to the last one in GB1 (just like that promo we saw a year ago). I found some foam that I'm trying to get to look like rock. Here is what I have so far:

Nice! I love Metallica! Saw them just last year, fun show, but they weren't quite as tight as they were when i saw them in 2004. Do you have some pics of em posted? Mini-James would be awesome!

No kidding! I thought I would be the only one too haha that's funny--let's see some pics! Which era of U2 did you create? I really wanted a Zoo-TV era including The Fly, Mirror Ball Man and Macphisto but I couldn't get The Fly to not look like the terminator. I'm not sure how I would do Macphisto but I think Mirror Ball Man could be made out of octopus from the spirit with all the shiny silver. I too am seeing them in July in the new giant's stadium. I saw them in Sept--great show!

Ah, that makes. Basically he has a black torso, which I painted white and then drew on a red tie. It's obviously not as nice looking if it was a decal, loaded onto a white toro, but I don't really have the means to print up decals--or even enough spare parts to have the right colors to do it. So that, and making the coat black is the only work involved. For me, I'm happy enough with him, I bet one of you guys out there could do it up real nice with the decal and make him look more legit. I still think its kind of strange that they mention him on the package, release the ghosts and the courtroom guys, but not the judge who was the whole point of the scene to begin with.

Yea guitars and gear would be awesome, I was thinking about that, it would make me want drums tho and i have no idea how to pull that off haha If you check out adam clayton--far right (bass player) i hardly did anything to him at all, he already looks like him. The larry mullen jr, (3rd from left) was as close as I could find, someone told me he looks like Guile from SF LOL.

Sorry, I don't know what QC is. It's this guy Cavil from Battlestar Galactica--I don't follow the series at all so I have no idea who he really is. But I saw him on the peg and thought of the judge. He's still complete, I even used the hairpiece he came with.
