  1. that's great news luke! really looking forward to the issue
  2. And the winner of the "Glantern No-prize" is Turtle! yes C3P0 is the fifth figure in the WIP pic.
  3. Figured it wouldn't take too long before somebody figured it out. Yes it's Star Wars, however I won't say what all of the characters are yet. Well, I had planned on telling TTF that he was close, excepting the two on the ends, but nice catch punisher=D. Niether of you has gotten the 5th yet, though. I'd just like to make it clear that this is just what I've finished so far. I plan on having at least 4 more 'mates done by next week in addition to these 5.
  4. Ok, so, I really enjoyed ALIENS week. Enough that I might even go back and make a few more characters from that film. However, I feel I need to take at least a small break from that franchise and do something else. So, Next week I plan to do another themed week of minimates, but unlike last time, I'll try to have them done ahead of time so I don't run into anymore difficulties. So I figured I would give you guys a small preview of what's in store for next week. Below is a WIP pic of a few of next weeks minimates. I'm not going to say what they are until next monday, but feel free to guess, as you might get it right. that's all 'til Monday. thanks for looking!
  5. Thanks. I don't have any of the mez-itz, but had been considering them. Any chance you could post a size comparison with an average minimate? As I said in a previous post, I have some in the works, but I'm not sure if it'll work Thanks for the compliments. As you can probably tell, Aliens is one of my favorite movies too. Regarding the helmet, PM sent thanks, I always was more of a fan of some of the lesser known characters, one the major reasons I liked DC minimates so much. As for Toro, I trhought he turned out very well, and I chose not to do him flamed up because I figure if DST ever makes one, He'll be like the torch, and therefore my custom will stll be valid.
  6. Thanks, I'm quite pleased with how they turned out as well Final Battle Bishop is my favorite too(followed closely by Hudson and Hicks). He was tons of fun to make. The tubing is actually a Wonder Woman lasso, cut into two sections. I saw it laying in the parts bin and realized how perfectly it would work. And I hadn't noticed Burke's eyes in the picure, but it kind of works My real hope is that DST will make their own, cause I'd love some aliens, not to mention I'd still love to have professional 'mates of these. And the T-1000 was my inspiration for Bishop, just cause it's such a cool idea I figured he would be a suprise, cause when I mentioned it to some friends, they assumed Final Battle Ripley would be the variant, but I figure she'd make more sense in a second series, seeing as she's the star. Totally agree with you about the movies. Alien 3 is(in my opinion) one of the worst letdowns in the history of sequels. They should have just stuck with two and called it a day. on a side note, I would like to point out some interestiong facts I learned while making these 1. There are next to no good images of the face of Jennette Goldstien as Vasquez 2. There are next to no good images of any of the space marines' armor 3. Michael Beihn's likeness was nailed by DST on the kyle reese control art. I'm not quite sure what happened between that and the actual figure 4. Thanks to Hudson, I need a new Sgt. Rock, or at least his helmet 5. With pieces from the the Wolvierine movie 'mates alone, you can make an almost perfect Burke(Flannel shirt with rolled up jeans, tan life preserver vest, black jeans) 6. without noses, William Hope(Lt. Gorman) and Bill Paxton(Hudson) look scarily similar. I had originally intended to do a more serious Hudson, but when I did, I looked at him and said "but, I already made a Gorman" 7. Carrie Henn(Newt)'s likeness is incredibly hard to capture. I'm still not 100% happy with the final, but I'll live with it. 8. Paul Reiser is incredibly annoying. Oh, and I forgot to post this pic earlier, but it's one of my favorites "A-firmative"
  7. Thanks for the compliments guys. Luke: unfortunately, I'm unable to find my aliens currently, so no pics with them. Will definitely post pics as soon as I find them. And now for the final installment of ALIENS week! The final pair: HUDSON: Private William Hudson was the squad's jokester and computer tech expert. He seemed arrogant and overconfident of his squad's firepower and abilities. However, he soon cracked under large amounts of stress after most of his Marine squad were taken during the Alien attack in the hive. Later on, he was able to pull himself together and regain his composure. NEWT: Rebecca "Newt" Jorden was the only survivor amongst the colonists of LV-426. She had been living in the air ducts within the compound and was discovered by the marines after they picked her up on the motion tracker. Newt bonded rather quickly with the marines and it was her strength of mind, for somebody so young, that helped to bring Hudson back from the brink of despair. And the Variant: FINAL BATTLE BISHOP: following the explosion of LV-426, Bishop flies the survivors back to the Sulaco. However, unbeknownst to him, the alien Queen is also on board the ship. Ripley and Bishop first become aware of the queen's presense when the queen impales Bishop with her tail and rips him in half. However, fortunately for Bishop, being an android means the top half of him survives, and he is able to aid Ripley in getting the queen out of the ship. And, some pics of the 'mates n action "Your dogmeat!" "You always were an @$$hole Gorman" "Not bad for a human" "I want you to show me everything" Group Shot And there it is. ALIENS week is complete. However, this week and this set of 'mates was quite an enjoyable, and I might even see about doing a second series. Hope you guys enjoyed these guys. Thanks for looking. Comments are apreciated. I can't think of a better way to end this post than to say one thing: "Game over man! Game over!"
  8. Ok, sorry about the delay yesterday. Ran into some "family stuff" and wasn't able to do the final work on the 'mates. Nessex: Thanks for the compliments. Glad you like Morph, unfortunately, that guy was for my personal collection, though if people are interested, I might make another. Alright, onto ALIENS week day 3! LIEUTENANT GORMAN Gorman led the ill-fated mission to LV-426 until the first encounter with the aliens. As he was recruited by Burke, the marines do not take kindly to Gorman. He was inexperienced, having gone through 38 simulated drops, but only one previous combat drop. He is also slow to understand situations and often needs things explained to him. Gorman provided command and support to the marines when they first secured the abandoned colony, and when they explored the atmospheric processor. PRIVATE VASQUEZ Vasquez was a smartgunner on the Sulaco, partnered with Drake. Vasquez survived the hive and helped seal off the complex from the aliens. She fought, together with Drake, and killed many aliens during the first attack. She shows blatant disrespect for Gorman throughout the film, due to her belief that his inexperience got her friends killed. Ok, that's today's installment. Check back tomorrow for both the final pair and the variant. Thanks for looking. As always, comments are appreciated
  9. Unfortunately, due to circumstances beyond my control, I was unable to complete the customs for today's installment of ALIENS week, so nothing today. However, I promise to have the pair finished by tomorrow, and on frday I will show the final pair as well as the variant. sorry for the inconvinience.
  10. For the time being, I'll just be displaying them with the kubricks, but I am working on how the aliens could be done, as I'd like to eventually have something a little more poseable than the kubricks
  11. Luke: thanks! hope not to disappoint excitementwise SErge: It's a great movie, and the marines are awesome. Hope you like today's update Ok, now onto ALIENS week Day 2! CORPORAL DWAYNE HICKS: A squad leader of the investigating Colonial Marines. Hicks forms a close bond with Ripley during the mission on LV-426. Hicks is practically the movie's biggest protagonist, second only to Ripley. CARTER J. BURKE: A corporate lawyer for the Weyland-Yutani Corporation who meets with Ripley after she is awakened from cryogenic stasis. He accompanies Ripley and the Marines to LV-426 to oversee the company's interests in the mission. However, his and the company's interests quickly begin to not match the plans of the Marines. and so ends the second installment. Thanks for looking! Check back tomorrow for the next pair. And as always, comments are greatly appreciated
  12. Ok, been a while since my last update. I'll be doing something a little different for the next week. Rather than posting all my customs at once, I'm gonna do this sorta like how diamond did the avengers and SM3 waves. I'll be showing one pair of figures each day for the next four days, and on Friday, I'll show off the varient figure I came up with. So without further ado, I present the first installment of ALIENS week! ELLEN RIPLEY: Sole survivor of the the star ship Nostromos, Ripley is awoken 57 years after the the events of Alien. She finds that the planet which held the eggs that brought the Alien onto her ship has been colonized. When transmisions with the colony are lost, she must go in with a team of marines to check the situation out. BISHOP: The resident "synthetic"(android) assigned to the mission, Bishop aids Ripley and the rest of the survivors in escaping the planet and the alien hive that inhabits it. Ok, that's all for today. Check back tomorrow for the next duo. And as always, comments are greatly appreciated
  13. figures. I go to the trouble of making customs, and they find a way to get them out. Oh well, I suppose it was bound to happen. But seriously, this is good news. I guess now I'll be putting some customs back into the parts bin. My one complaint: what did they do to starbuck's face?
  14. I too recieved mine. Thanks again Boyd. It was really awesome of you to do this!
  15. Hey guys. sorry bout the lack of updates. Busy life lately. Actually had most of today's customs done for a while, just hadn't gotten around to getting the pics taken. but regardless, here's what I've been working on for the last few weeks. GAMBIT: Everyone's been making one of these. Figured I needed one to go with my other wolvie moive mates. Got this idea from Twisted Two Face, but I chose a different head, as I wanted him to have reddish eyes. HAWKEYE: This guy was just in desperate need of an update. Don't know why it took me so long to get around to fixing him MORPH: This guy's been sitting around finished for over a month now, just waiting to post him with other stuff And now, for the main part of this update... THE CHALLENGERS OF THE UNKNOWN: Ace, Prof, Rocky, June, and Red. These five have been in the works for a while, but I had to wait to get mor peices before I could finish them. Based on their appearance in DC: NEW FRONTIER Ok, that's it for this update. Remember, comments are greatly appreciated, so let me know what you guys think
  16. I actually was at a preview screening of this two weeks ago, and all I could say was WOW! Totally blew away all the expectations I had for it(which admitidly were low, but still!) The Casting for the whole movie is well done, and Simon Pegg was briliant. Definitely gonna try and see it again in the theatre
  17. Wow, your Black Canary turned out really nicely. I might alter mine a bit. and thanks for giving me credit. Though, after looking at some of your stuff, I might have to be stealing your recipes, especially that awesome Ras. Keep up the great work
  18. Glad to know you like him Head-BTTF Part 2 Marty Hair- Ironman Movie Mark I Torso- SM3 Transformation Spiderman Arms/ Hands- cann be any flesh colored arms and hands Legs/pelvis/feet- I used Wonder Woman, but since they were mostly repainted, It could be from anyone
  19. Thanks once again for the comments guys. Still on the Watchmen front I have one more custom to show you guys-- SILOHUETTE: And now for the next part of my instalment which I like to call "Sidekicks" BUCKY: The original was good, but I was never crazy about the head. Bucky should be in his early teens, and the 'mate looked about 30, so I did a quick swap for a robin head with Spidey 3 Peter Parker hair. TORO: With Union Jack released, Toro's absense from my Invaders line-up was even more aparent, so here he is. RICK JONES: Based on his appearances in the 70s and 80s, when he was hanging with Captain Marvel. Hint hint DST. MARVIN & WENDY: Not sure why these guys got made, but they fit the theme, and I do think the deserve more justice than was given them in the pages of Teen Titans. Here they are in happier times And last in this update, I was going through my collection, and I found these QCs I thought I would show off. BRUCE BANNER: QUESTION: Also, I'd like to let everyone know that 90% of the images in this thread have been updated so that you can get a better impression of my stuff, as well as all images of customs that have been refined since first posting being omitted. Thanks for looking, and remember: Comment's are very appreciated.
  20. Okay, so as you all know, I've been working on the Watchmen for a while now, and I realised, I had enough to do an entire series. So, I decided to put my design skills to use and make up some packaging for thes bad boys. Currently, I still have to print out and assemble the final product, but I figured I'd let everyone have a look at what they should look like. These designs are meant to work with a bubble of the DC/Star Trek shape. I plan to get up some pics of the real things soon, but let me know what you think of the ideas.
  21. For Veidt's head, I actually created a decal. I've attached it if you'd like to use it. I innitially tried using plastic for the tunic, but it ended up being too bulky, so i decided on paper, wich after two coats of paint is perfectly durable now. Joe Hill and entertheninja!: Thanks for the compliments on the Dr Horrible set. They were the set that really got me into customizing 'mates, and they still are my absolute favorites.
  22. Just wondering, can someone post a pic of the 90s wolverine with the wave 23 spy master? thanks
  23. I'm not that familiar with Doctor Who, but if DST made a set of those, I would pick them up in a heart beat
  24. Love the idea of 2 sets, but I think the 4th character in the 2nd set should be Kang instead of another vision 2.0 seeing as Kang was the 1st villain these guys fought and he really needs a 'mate.
