  1. I know that we're all questioning DST's reasons for ending this line, but another question that may need to be raised is what is the licensing fee that they agree to pay for their various licenses? In terms of disappointment, I have to admit that seeing Doctor Who minimates and then having them pulled away was by far the most disappointed I've been with the minimate line. Now we've seen DC pull their license, BSG looking as though it's been left for dead and Street Fighter ended early. With that said though, the "mini" market still seems to be strong - Kubricks are still big sellers with a multitude of licenses (DC and Marvel included), Hasbro has had huge success with SuperHero Squad/Galactic Heroes/Robot Heroes/Combat Heroes, and even Hellboy and Doctor Who are coming to various 2-3" lines. So I'm not sure this is a financial problem as the market still seems to support these and is actually favored due to the fewer resources producing such a figure entail. However, the one thing DST seems to lack is any type of "homegrown" product that they can produce figures for and not have an expensive licensing fee for. Additionally, DST doesn't utilize their website to sell exclusives or bring cancelled/low selling waves to their customers. Look at Mattel who recently started an online only He-Man line. Not only can they charge a higher price but they don't have the marketing overhead seen on some of their other products. Given the above, I would think that DST has several options to save the line should they truly want to. Unfortunately, I don't think they've found a way to utulize the options they have available to them - even if it was using their website or offering exclusives directly to the fans of the line through collector fan bases (like this one).
  2. I have to admit that as much as I love the show, I have only picked up a few mates - primarily involving Cylons. It is a shame that it appears this has been cancelled as I wouldn't have minded picking up an Athena mate.
  3. Reading all of these reviews for the Spirit movie really depresses me as we could have had a Brad Bird penned animated Spirit flick, but the flick never got financed. Shame when you see what we've gotten instead. That said, I do hope that the Spirit box-set comes out and that this won't affect the comic styled mates that have been discussed for the Spirit property.
  4. My comic shop is charging me $12 for a bag of 25. I would think this would be fairly consistent for most comic shops but don't know for sure.
  5. Great - now I want a Candy Cane Striped Iron Man!
  6. Well, if it helps some of our Non-US posters, I placed my order with my comic shop for 25 of these guys. If needed, I can probably order more
  7. Join the Dark Side, let the temptation sway you into clicking the link. For those of you that haven't yet, I do share some information
  8. I got my Secret Santa package today as well and had to instantly rip into the taunting yellow envelope. The contents inside can only be described by the sound of my jaw dropping at the awesomeness that resided within. For you see, fellow posters, I am now the proud recepient of an Invaders Captain America, Bucky and an amazingly awesome Union Jack custom! This, in addition to a homemade minimate Christmas card and one of Minnesota's own Nut Goodie nut clusters. Now mind you, the sheer greatness of this selection has left me too awe struck to deduce who indeed my Secretive Santa is at this point in time. However, the time is coming to reveal the artistic and talented culprit for all to see. Oh yes, your time is nigh......
  9. These are all looking bloody fantastic. Can't wait to see what appears in my mail box!
  10. I PM'd Dan as well, and the mate he got was quite awesome. I know I'm eagerly awaiting my shipment from LE!
  11. Hmm....no pics yet..... Let's see some of these awesome pieces of LE plasticy goodness!
  12. I think that enough people have started getting these that a thread could be started to showcase all of these wonderful mates! Just my two cents....
  13. BTW - For those of you that have placed an order with TRU, when you check the status of your order you are given a link with a tracking number and sent to the UPS website. Here, you will likely be told that the tracking number is not recognized. That's because TRU is shipping these via USPS (your tracking number should begin with 91....). If you go to the USPS website, you should be able to track your package by entering the tracking number you get from UPS. Hope that helps those of you waiting for your shipment to arrive.
  14. The comic store that I belong to doesn't typically stock mates either. However, they are willing to order 25 of these little guys for me as long as I pay for the lot (which isn't to bad). As a result, I have a feeling I'll have quite a few of these up for trade or to send out to some of my fellow posters.
  15. So it's been a couple of day since we first received word of these being shipped - has anyone else started finding these in their mailbox?
  16. Mine went out over the weekend to someone that has already posted in this thread.
  17. How long did it take for everyone to get an e-mail confirmation from TRU? I just placed my order and haven't seen anything in my inbox to verify the order was placed. Stupid TRU website......
  18. Well, I stopped at two TRU's in Pittsburgh and neither one had them in - in fact, neither even had a peg for them. I signed up for the TRU Reward programming and get a free shipping code, but it isn't good until January 2nd. I also noticed the website is charging me sales tax for the shipping fee. Arrgh!
  19. The excitement on this thread is awesome, and I love the comment about these potentially being different. Being in PA, here's hoping my "secret" fig is on it's way here now. Merry Christmas LE and thanks again! BTW - Love the Captain Britain emoticon -
  20. In a rare turn of events, I can also claim to be a big winner today. Thanks LE and thanks Shane!
  21. Ohhhh....a Christmas Spirit mate would be awesome, especially considering the movie will be released on Christmas this year. I doubt that will be it, but it would have a Christmas connection.
  22. Well, it looks like the thread has been closed since Friday so it should be coming very, very soon. About the only thing that we can guarantee is LE rocks - after all, they were the company kind enough to give many of us a Free Comic Book Day mate earlier this year.
  23. Just got back from the Erie, PA TRU, and they do have some of the figures in stock. It looks like they were down to the Spidey packs and a couple of the Hulk exclusives. Anyone have an extra IM set they're willing to get rid of? It was the only one I wasn't able to find that I wanted.
  24. Oh, I agree, pi. I got the graphic novel of the series and enjoyed the new takes on the aged DC superheroes. Jwspider, here's Prime: Thanks Chaz! Prime, NightMan and Union Jack all rock! You sure you don't have any pull with DST? I would love to see these produced.
