  1. Gotta say - i'm with Two-Face on wanting my Hellfire Club & Goons. Sebastian, Black Queen Jean & some goons would be AWESOME. Would love to see a Mastermind, Harry Leland, Donald Pierce & Selene too - but that might be a *bit* of a pipe dream. LOL. I'm a bit torn over whether it's a good idea or not to draw out the release of the Army Builders. I'm pretty sure there has been more noise about Hellfire Goons than about Vault Guards . . . but maybe by keeping us waiting, AA/DST ensures the longevity of the line??? For no real reason, my picks for a hellfire club wave... Black Queen (Jean Grey) & Hellfire Club Guard Battle-Damaged Classic Wolverine & Donald Pierce White Queen (New X-Men) & Sebastian Shaw VARIANT: Black Queen (Selene) & Hellfire Club Guard Notes: I don't actually want the extra Emma & Wolverine... I just put them in because I think their presence is the only way this set would get made. A set of all Hellfire Villains would never sell as well, and thus, never get made. Furthermore, -I- think Selene makes more sense as the normal figure and Jean the variant, but I doubt that's the way Diamond's Marketing Department would see things, so I made Jean the normal fig. Also, as much as I'd like the whole classic inner circle Leiland & Wyngarde got cut due to inactivity. Pierce & Shaw are still active in stories today, wheras Wyngarde died and Leiland has gone stale (Is he dead too?). Besides, I'd rather have a Mastermind than a "Jason Wyngarde" anyway. Finally, I know that Emma's New X-Men costume makes no sense in this lineup, but her Hellfire costume has been done, and it's not as if Diamond has never mixed together the wrong eras before (Exmp: New X-Men Cyclops & Hellfire Emma. Jim Lee Storm & Black Panther). That said, I think her New X-Men costume is her most interesting as-yet-unmade look. (And it completes the New X-Men set that her Hellfire costume was erroneously thrown in with).
  2. My Toys R Us (Melrose Park Illinois) did indeed get them in today, as they said they would yesterday when I called. I then called a second Toys R Us to see if they got them and they did too. So it seems like lots of stores are getting cases in today. Go check people, you might get lucky. PS. My store got one case, and the breakdown was 3x Deadpool, 3x Sabretooth, 2x Blob, 2x Agent Zero and 2x Silver Fox. I bought myself one whole set, plus the extra two exclusives for ebay to try to recoup some of the cost I was raped on the Union Jack set, which I never found in stores myself...
  3. All the complaints taken into account... frankly... I think Gargan Venom is my favorite one... Of all the Venom variants out there, Gargan is one of the only ones I actually want. I like his look better than Movie Venom, Powerhouse 5-Pack Venom & the Transformation Venom Minimates. I'm glad to get Penance and Radioactive Man, because I always like new characters. This is not, however, my prefered look for Radioactive Man, so he's left me with lukewarm feelings. Norman I could have done without completely. All I want is his head, to put on my new "Villains" set Green Goblin. His body is lame. I'd have prefered Songbird. As for the Dark Avengers set... (Are there any pictures of it yet?) THIS is the Gargan I could have done without... as Spider-Man... he looks exactly the same as Parker in the Black Suit, which we already have 2 versions of... if the only difference is the face under his mask, this is a figure we REALLY didn't need... Iron Patriot I like. Glad they included him. Daken is a lame character who I've never liked (and I'm a HUGE X-Men fan). The last thing we needed was another Wolverine knock-off, especially so soon after the debut of X-23, who is essentially the same rough concept as Daken, but with boobies. Same goes for Minimates, the last thing we needed was another Wolverine. And I have the same problem with him as I do with Gargan's Spider-Man... he'll look essentially the same, but with an "Evil" face under the mask... Marvel Boy, I know very little about as a character, but I guess he was a decent choice, since he's a newbie to the minimate world. But I (like many) think this set would have been way better off with Ms. Marvel & Ares instead of "Evil" Spider-Man & Wolverine... but I suppose they put those two in because they'll look more appealing to your average dumb kid who doesn't know they're "Evil" and make Diamond more money. *Shrug* (Don't get me wrong, I love Diamond and their products... but you can't honestly tell me you don't think the only reason those two were included WASN'T sales...)
  4. Is anyone else having trouble with Cap's hands? It looks like on my particular cap they shot some kinda gunk in the wrist slots that hardened up... possibly to make them a bit more snug. (I've actually done this myself on mates before... I'll put a dab of glue on the pegs then keep rotating them in the hole so the glue hardens, but doesn't seal, making a snugger fit for the peg.) Problem is it dried in such a way that it gunked things up more than it snugged things up, so I had to dig the gunk out of his wrists with a pick before I could get his hands in all the way. PS. My Cap's mask doesn't fit right either. I think they made the head slightly bigger on newer mates... I put my old Giant Sized wolverine's mask on my Secret Invasion Wolverine, and it was snug as hell too. Took me a half hour to pry it off afterward.
  5. Good news to people who can't find these... I just called my local Toys R Us with the Item # from the Silver Fox set off the website. The lady looked it up (and she repeated the item name back to me without me ever having said what it was, so I know she wasn't lying, haha) and said they haven't gotten them in yet, but expect to get them in this week, possibly on tomorrow's truck. Now, since it's been roughly a week since initial reports started popping up, I'm figuring that like almost ALL other minimates, these are just taking an extra week to make it out to my area and should be arriving any day now. Since they're already all over ebay, I was worried that they had already come and gone at my store (like the Union Jack set) but it looks like I didn't miss my opportunity! Hopefully you haven't missed yours either, keep your eyes on the shelves!
  6. I just voted for Beyonder... this seemed like a no-brainer to me since he's the face behind the Secret Wars AND he'd be a new character we haven't gotten yet... Let me say, I was SORELY dissapointed when I saw teh current poll results... why, why, WHY is a crappy Spider-Man variant in the top four! WHY!? It's not even a good Spider-Man... it's like the Peter Parker/Spidey "Spidey Sense" variant... it works as an illustration technique, but as a toy it's... lame. I can excuse Captain Marvel & Molecule Man, because they're new characters, and Storm is a little excusable because it's an unmade costume with a fairly unique look to it... but the Spidey is just lame! I can't believe Beyonder isn't even in the top four. This stinks.
  7. The guy in the top middle really looks like he's wearing a loincloth to me.
  8. OOOkay... So here's the deal. Yesterday I was scouring the Marvel Comics section of MinimateDatabase.com to aid me as I compiled my own personal Marvel Minimate checklist. In the process of doing so, I noticed a small laundry list of problems and/or inconsistencies with their checklist, as well as their cataloguing process... I decided to post all the errors I found here in an effort to hopefully aid them in creating a tighter and more uniform website. (The reason I chose to post them here is because I could find no contact info on their site, and I assume the owner(s) post here, since the minimate internet community is fairly tight-knit) Some of the problems are cut and dry errors. Many of them are open to interpretation or personal preference, and I merely chose to point them out as suggestions. PLEASE NOTE, that by NO MEANS am I trying to be insulting or uncomplimentary to MinimateDatabase.com. I am merely trying to HELP. I love the website, and I can only imagine the amount of work that went into it. That's partly why I made this list. Hopefully, pointing some of these problems out will make them easier to correct, should the site owner agree that they need correcting. MinimateDatabase.com can take this list and use it as they see fit, or they can completely ignore it if they so choose. I am not trying to tear down their site. I am ONLY TRYING TO HELP. That said, here's the list.... ------------------------------------- I'll start with the simple ones... The comic book version of Gwen Stacy is listed as Gwen Stacey, instead of Stacy, the correct spelling. You might want to add a “Loony Bin” Jim tag to the Mob Thug figure. I’m aware that the package names him as “Mob Thug”, but he was called “Loony Bin” Jim in the movie, and it’s not as if Raza is called “Terrorist Thug”, and he’s also a lame movie created thug character. Mary Jane & Mariko are the only civilians whose last names (Watson & Yashida) aren’t given. Characters with movie tags are inconsistent. Some are listed as “Character Name” (Movie) , Some are listed as “Character Name” (Title of Movie), and some don’t acknowledge they’re movie versions at all. (PS. All the X-Men characters say “X-Men 3” not the proper title, “X-Men: The Last Stand”. If it were me I’d change it, but I’m nitpicky. ) Speaking of Nitpicky... Scarlet Spider’s “Version of Character” tag redirects to Spider-Man, when it should, in theory, redirect to Ben Reilly, like the Ben Reilly Spider-Man does, since Scarlet Spider is not in fact, Peter Parker OR Spider-Man. He isn’t a variation of Spider-Man any moreso than US Agent is a variation of Captain America. (Truth be told, I’d suggest giving Scarlet Spider his own unique tag, and having Ben Reilly Spidey re-direct to that instead. In any case, Ben Spidey and Scarlet Spidey should both be separate.) By the same token, I don’t see why Spider-Carnage gets his own unique character tag, but saaaay, Col. America doesn’t. They’re both “monster” versions of an established character, but with a different name. Shouldn’t Spider-Carnage be lumped into his primary character, the same way Col. America is? (PS. Spider-Carnage was again, Ben Reilly, not Peter Parker, so his primary character would be Riley, not Spider-Man.) And if we REALLY want to nitpick, Spider-Man 2099 isn’t technically Peter Parker either. ALL THAT said... why are some some characters like Spider-Man (Parker) and Spider-Man (Reilly) separate, wheras others like War Machine (Rhodes) and War Machine (Stark) aren't? Truth told, civilian characters are treated semi-inconsistently across the board. Some characters, like Logan, Jean Grey, Sue Storm, Johnny Storm and Namor, are lumped in with their hero personas (Wolverine, Phoenix, Human Torch, Invisible Woman & Sub-Mariner) wheras others, like Jim Rhodes, Emil Blonsky, Eddie Brock, Luke Cage, Bruce Banner, etc… are separate from characters like War Machine, Abomination, Venom, Power Man & Hulk. Personally, I'd recommend re-cataloguing all characters under their civilian aliases, similar to the way Hank Pym/Giant Man/Ant-Man is currently set up, lumping all civilians with their hero personas, and separating characters like Stark & Rhodes. Coming off that line of thought, Red Hulk is listed as a variation of the character Hulk, wheras he is not a variation of Bruce Banner or Green Hulk, but a separate new villain character. Ronin could theoretically also be lumped with Hawkeye, but this one I admit is debatable, as Ronin wasn’t always Hawkeye. Now, moving off Characters with civilian aliases... I move onto Ultimates... Ultimate Storm has a ? next to her name. I can verify that yes, this is Ultimate Storm’s costume (As seen in this Ultimate Storm bust): http://www.jpbenterprise.com/Pictures/D004...tStormBustB.jpg Speaking more on Ultimates, The Ultimate Marvel Characters are treated inconsistently. Some, such as Spider-Man, are listed as “Ultimate Spider-Man” whereas others, like Jean Grey, are listed as “Jean Grey (Ultimate)” I’d suggest standardizing them all to a matching format. (PS. “No Visor” Cyclops doesn’t have an Ultimate tag at all.) Furthermore, the Logan from series 3 is listed as Ultimate Logan, but I’ve never seen any evidence to suggest he’s supposed to be “Ultimate”. The figure was named simply “Logan” not “Ultimate Logan”, furthermore, he’s wearing one of 616 Logan’s classic outfits , his brown jacket and jeans (which he wore as a civilian on the 90s cartoon, and of which toybiz has made at least two 616-based action figures). Finally, just comparing his head to that of Ultimate Wolverine, it’s plain to see he bears no resemblance to Ultimate Logan. No facial hair with the classic 616 pointy hairdo. I’ve always just seen him as a 616 figure lumped in with Ultimate figures (Similar to Ult. Green Goblin being lumped with a set of several 616 figures.) And that’s all I've got for the moment. Again, let me re-iterate that I only posted this to HELP. Minimate Database is certainly not my website, and the owner(s) can certainly organize it any way they see fit. Feel free to take this as nothing more than my own personal opinions & suggestions. (Except for that Gwen Stacey one. That ones definately plain wrong. ) Hope you found some of this helpful. Forgive my wordiness. EDIT: Found another one, the new toys ru us series (The Union Jack one) is listed as having been released in March 2008, rather than 2009.
  9. The following lists are based entirely upon who I think would be good for the set in question. NOT who I'd actually like to see made. Truth told, I'd rather have a Jubilee than any of these 8 figures, buuuut, she's just not big enough for the set... Heroes: Iron Man (Modern Armor, Redone to be less clunky than the Civil War version) Cyclops (Jim Lee 90s) Thor (2007/2008 Relaunch Armor) Daredevil (Black Costume) Villains: Mandarin Juggernaut (Powerhouse) Enchantress Bullseye (Redo)
  10. I realize Jessica Jones is a more current character, but frankly, Jewel isn't a very pertinent character at all. "Jewel" never really had a tenure as an actual character... she was just kindof a memory was the moment she was introduced... It's kinda like releasing the Deadly Genisis team of X-Men, Petra, Darwin, Sway & Vulcan, and acting as if they were "classic" characters... I mean, sure, they were written retroactively into classic continuity. Two of them (Darwin & Vulcan) have been extremely relevent in recent X-Men stories of the last few years... buuuuut, they still aren't incredibly pertinant characters that people care a great deal about... BUT... altogether, I don't really have a great preference between Jewel & Mockingbird. I do however think Mockingbird would have made more sense, merely because her skrull clone has been more relevent to the Secret Invasion story than Jewel's skrull clone.
  11. Just throwing this out there, but in the wave we get Psylocke from, I'd want the variant to be Revanche. Just because inevitably, I want to have ALL the X-Men, every last one, and that's the only friggin way we'll ever get Revanche. Her being such an obscure character and all. My ideal lineup for the next X-Men wave would be... Longshot & Dazzler Psylocke & Gambit Jubilee & Banshee Variant Revanche & Gambit Ideally I'd leave out any repeats, but since we all know that probably won't happen, I'd say swap Banshee with a new Wolverine variant. Probably an updated version of his classic costume. Sorry Deadpool fans. I want him just as much as you do, but I'd rather have all the actual X-Men 1st, so I had to cut him. As for Storm & Jean's 90's costumes, I could live without them both. My prefered Jean is the Phoenix costume, which we're getting soon, and I'm fine with 1st appearance Storm. Cyclops I wouldn't mind having in his 90s costume, but I'm fine with Astonishing Cyclops for now.
  12. While it doesn't come as a surprise, it makes me wish I had sold my original one that I got in one of their early offers back when they we for like... $50 on ebay... Anyway, I ordered an Invaders set, and Iron Man through the Ages set, and two of these, so I could at least get my moneys worth out of shipping... I really don't like ordering from shopafx, due to their ridiculous shipping costs, but they were the 1st online retailer I found who had both San Diego sets in stock (not just one or the other... even diamond only has one set up at the moment) and being that I wanted them both ASAP, I had to yield to their will... Oh well...
  13. Shortly before Messiah Complex they off-handedly implied that Mr. Sinister "cured" him, at his own request, after he and Sunfire joined the Marauders. They didn't go into great detail about it (why bother) but it's not outside the realm of believeablity, as Sinister and Apocalypse have worked with eachother alot in the past, and would naturally have some familiarity with one anothers work. I don't remember exactly what book it was implied in specifically. Most likely X-Men, Uncanny X-Men or Cable & Deadpool, because those were the books he 1st started popping back up in when Messiah Complex was kicking off. In any event it never actually "happened" on Panel. He just went into limbo as Death, and came back out as normal Gambit, giving that slight bit of explanation when he returned.
  14. I think you're all thinking too hard, and this was just a long-handed way of saying those particular characters sucked. I disagree on Firestar, the others I could probably have lived without.
  15. No offense, I love X-Men and I'd totally buy all of them, but I could easily see hundreds of Forge & Banshee packs ending up at the bottom of clearance bins nationwide. I think we're starting to get to the point where the only X-Men we have left need to be packed with another character to "support" them, so to speak. The only two really big X-Men left are Gambit and Psylocke. (And maybe Jubilee...) Some logical pairings I see... ("Lame" character 1st, Good Character options second.) Forge & Storm or Mystique Jubilee & Wolverine X-23 & Wolverine Vulcan & Cyclops Marvel Girl (Rachel) & Cyclops or Cable Cannonball & Cable Warpath & Cable Domino & Cable Sunfire & Gambit (They've been teamed up quite alot recently) Revanche & Psylocke Morph/Changeling & Blink (I'm thinking Changeling could be the variant...) Joseph & Magneto or Rogue X-Man & Phoenix or Cyclops Sage & Bishop Xorn & Magneto or Phoenix Armor & Wolverine Those are just some thoughts...
  16. Does anyone who's there know, or is there anywhere on the internet that states what the retail prices for the San Diego exclusive sets are? (Meaning, the Invaders & Iron man sets) I'm just trying to get a ballpark of how much I should be willing to pay for them on ebay before I feel like I'm getting ripped off. PS. Prices for the Fin Fang Foom & Savage Land Marvel Legends sets would be helpful too, actually, if anyone knows those.
  17. I was so caught up looking over the new figures, I didn't even notice the new and improved Wolverine body... Check him out... he's got shoulder pads, but he doesn't look overly bulky and lame like Zombie Wolverine did. Here's hoping they include and/or make a New "Classic" wolverine with that chest, but without the"Tiger Whiskers" Mask (Since I'm guessing the yellows won't match up, preventing re-use of the old mask piece.) All the newly sculpted pieces I spot... Wolverine's Mask Wolverine's Hair (Looks Good, compared to some of the older ones, might I add) Wolverine's Chest Jewel's Hair Jewel's Belt (I think) Phoenix's Hair Beast's Hair And everyone thought it would just be old figures with Skrull heads...
  18. I hope the Secret Invasion set uses additional heads, like in those pictures, rather than the "turning head" method, mentioned in the initial descriptions. I just don't like the idea of turning heads when one face is green and one flesh colored. I feel like it would be poorly executed, and some green would show through. Plus I don't like the idea that my Phoenix, Beast & Jewel are really hidden skrulls in disguise... it's unsettling.
  19. Just a quick note... ActionFigureInsider.com is reporting from San Diego Comicon that the set contains Wolverine, Phoenix, Beast & Psylocke. I assume the most likely reason for this is whoever was doing the reporting just saw Jewel's purple hair next to 3 X-Men and got his wires crossed, and that the set still in fact comes with Jewel, as originally reported. But still, I thought it worth mentioning.
  20. Now, as an X-Men fan, I love the idea of finally getting a classic Phoenix and Beast, so overall, I'm not complaining. But I've gotta say, as a Secret Invasion Set, this lineup sucks. A. It's primarily an Avengers story, and they gave us not one, not two, but THREE X-Men. (Granted, two were also Avengers, but they're better known as X-Men). Not to mention, I don't think Jewel was ever an Avenger either, was she? (Honestly not sure.) B. They're characters only marginally involved with Secret Invasion... Instead of giving us plot relevant characters like Elektra, Iron Man, Spider-Woman, Nicky Fury or even unmade but HUGELY relevent characters like Yellowjacket, Black Widow or Mockingbird, they gave us the people running around in the background... two of whom are already dead... C. Expanding on the previous two thoughts, the mandatory "Heavy Hitter" they chose was Wolverine... now... I know, every set needs a Wolverine, Spider-Man or Iron Man... but frankly, both of the other two seem like far more logical choices in this case, as both have been far more involved in SI thus far (Iron Man in the main book, Spider-Man in the New Avengers tie-ins) So like... why Wolverine? BUT, as I said, I'm still happy to be getting Phoenix and Beast, so I'll pick this up. Not complaining about new mates, I always love new mates. I'm just sayin'... releasing them as a "Secret Invasion" set seems kinda... dumb... to me... I like the extra Skrull Heads idea. I hope they're all different, and not just the same head, and I hope at least one has Feminine Skrully features for elektra and Spider-Woman. I also hope these "Turning" heads don't get in the way of the other figures' looks... I just don't see how a head could be half green and half peach, and not be... noticable... many minimate hair pieces don't cover the sides that well... I'd much rather they just came with extra heads, like the original tounge/no-tounge Venom figure. But I guess we'll have to wait and see. PS. So should we take this as conformation that the Jewel & Wolverine that came off the ship are skrulls?
  21. Frankly, I don't want just another custom contest. Once you've seen a couple hundred minimates customs, you've seen'm all. (Except of course for the truly acceptional customs, but lets face it, there's usually only about 1, maybe 2 of those in every few dozen.) I myself would like to see a repeat of some of these old contests myself... The Minimates Central Quick-Custom Contest. I liked this contest due to its "only use pre-existing parts" restriction. It forced folks to use their heads and be resourceful, rather than just paint whatever parts they needed. Plus it's cool because it shows some of us ideas we've never seen before, that we can make with our very own parts. Or... The Comic Book Cover / Movie Poster contests. I found those real fun, because they showed alot of cool minimate-inspired art, rather than just another dozen customs. NOT that I have anything against customs... customs are nice, I like customs... I'm just a little worn out on them is all I'm sayin'. BUT, that's just my 2 Cents. Since I'm not organizing a contest myself, I suppose it's really not my call. But I would like to suggest a "Round 2" for those ones.
  22. All of them! *Thumbs Up* Save for Gold Spidey, Silver Spidey & Santa Spidey, whom I don't actually count as real figures anyway, but some people do, my Marvel collection is 100% complete. I haves them all.
  23. Howdy Chuck, Here's mah question... Being that I live 20 minutes away from Rosemont Illinois, where Wizard World Chicago is held, over the many years, I've always attended that con, and never had the means to fly all the way out to San Diego. As such, WWC has always been where I picked up my yearly round of con exclusives, because they've always been available there as well a bit later in the year, going all the way back to that very first Peter Parker and Mary Jane 2-Pack. This year however, a hiccup has arisin, as it occurs to me that WWC is in June, rather than August, and SDCC is in July, putting WWC before SDCC, which hasn't happened in ages... Does this mean, as I suspect it does, that I'm completely out of luck as it pertains to this years San Diego Minimate exclusives? If they're ready in time for WWC, would they still possibly be sold there as well, as they have been in the past, or does branding them "San Diego Exclusive" pretty much guarantee they won't be available at all before that particular con? Am I going to have to wait 'til July and then chase them all down on the internet? EDIT: Due to the fact that Wizard World Chicago has now begun, and the New mates are nowhere to be found, this question has become largely irrelevant, but you can feel free to answer it anyway if you'd still like to...
  24. Veering slightly off-topic... I'm pretty sure that hairstyle isn't The Rachel.
  25. Most Wanted... (In no particular order, with the acception of Beast, who is decidedly my #1) 1) "Classic" Beast 2) Tigra 3) Hercules 4) Ares 5) Black Panther 6) Black Widow 7) Falcon No real point in listing my favorite 7, since I'm an X-Men fan (Hence Beast being #1) so I really don't have any extreme standout favorites when it comes to the Avengers. (Though I do enjoy an Avengers comic from time to time.)
