  1. I completely agree. It's essential for a Cap mate, that's my one gripe with the current ones.
  2. Man, that is a good call. I'm hoping that the Platoon set is going to test the waters for that market. If it does well, then hopefully we'll see some GI Joe-mates in the near future. Meaning, everyone buy the Platoon set when it comes out! I mean, who doesn't want a Willem Dafoe minimate anyway?
  3. I can't wait to go to the Con on Sunday and grab this box set for myself. Has anyone picked it up yet, besides the staff? How does this compare to the Defenders set (which I've heard is considered the best box set to date)?
  4. Haven't made a full list of wave by wave yet, but I really felt the need to agree with karamazov, haha. I'd love to see a Wrecking Crew box set, it was one of the first things that came to mind when I saw this thread. Not only would it add to the few villains we have, but it's also a relatively wide group. The Wrecking Crew's fought everyone from classic Avengers to the Runaways. A must for a box set, in this guys opinion. I'm also a little surprised to see how many people want Young Avengers minimates. They are some great characters, but I thought I'd see some older characters popping up as opposed to ones with only a handful of issues under their belts.
  5. I gotta say, I'm surprised with how much they revealed at the NYCC. I expected them to just show what the Hulk minimates were gonna be and leave it at that (which they didn't even do). Can't wait for FA Avengers and Heroes, though. Now I can't wait to see some actual figures. They didn't give any dates on any of the new figs, right?
  6. I agree. Personally, I'd never heard the name before I saw he was going to be in Wave 23. I have no idea what his powers are (if he has any) but his costume looks pretty cool. I'll still get that set, and I might end up really liking the figure, but I just have no idea who he is. As of right now, I would've liked a more well-known character but I'll take what I can get haha.
  7. Though this is getting off topic ("Wave 23"), I personally like the Torment Spidey. The paint app of the figure looks so much like the McFarlene era Spidey, it's amazing. It also has a little bit of a David Finch feel, which works well when you pose him with the New Avenegers. Also, if you're lucky, you can find this Classic Spidey set (which Torment Spidey comes in) at FYE on sale. Mine was $10-11, whereas online the set goes for $30+ But what are your opinions on wave 23, AF Spidey-praisers? Would you prefer getting more mainstream villains, or are you looking forward to the one we're getting?
  8. Just a New Avengers team pose shot. I've been waiting to get an Iron Fist to round out the team, and just got him in the mail today.
  9. That sounds like the punch-line to a bad joke, hahah.
  10. I gotta say, personally I'm not too excited about wave 23. I know nothing about Nova and Gamora. They just look like super sci-fi characters and I'm normally not into those comics. Warmachine seems okay, but again, who is Spymaster? A seemingly random selection, when characters like Yellowjacket aren't made yet. In fact, that combo would have worked a lot better, since they're both in Avengers: The Initiative and that seems to be selling pretty well. The only characters I'm kind of interested in are Cloak and Dagger, and that's because they've started putting these characters back into the mainstream MU. While they don't have a series they regularly appear in, they've been in a couple runs of Runaways and the past couple main events (ie. House of M, Civil War,...). And that's my little rant on Wave 23, hah.
  11. I agree, I might have to get two sets of these as well. I still don't quite understand why all movie-based Minimates get released so late. I remember hearing something about licensing issues, but I don't get why normal Iron Man toys are already in stores and these get pushed to the back-burner. Does anyone possibly know the answer to this? Yes... Ok just kidding with you. The answer is that DST is a fairly small company and someone like Hasbro (who I believe has the master toy license for the movie) are a lot bigger and therefore have more power to ask for access to the materials and art etc for the movies, much sooner than DST. To be honest this time it looks like they have gotten out of the gate fairly quickly and these should be available around the DVD releaes time. T. Awesome, thanks for the fast response. Here's hoping these don't get a delay like previous movie figs. I'm getting a little antsy for these new figures, haha.
  12. I love your Sunfire. That is by far my favorite version of the character. His other main version makes him look like some kinda weird fish. Also, that Gambit is awesome. Where did his jacket come from? I don't think I've seen that piece before.

  14. The woman in white, I believe, is Mockingbird. I don't know a whole lot about the character, but I think I read somewhere that it was her. The person in red who asks if they got to Earth is Ms. Marvel ( again, not 100% sure but yeah). For whoever said "Skrulls not knowing they're Skrulls seems unlikely," or however it was worded, Bendis said in this interview ( http://forum.newsarama.com/showthread.php?t=152226 ) that it would be the case for some characters. The interview in general has a couple interesting points. So far, though, I gotta say I'm loving Secret Invasion. Not only is the story pretty sweet so far, but Leinel Yu's art in it is his best yet, in my opinion. Oh, and I think someone asked that they hope they find out when exactly people were replaced by Skrulls. Either New Avengers or Mighty Avengers was going to be revealing that for the duration on Secret Invasion. Can't remember where I read that, but yeah.
  15. I can't wait to see how these look. Everything I've seen so far makes them look fantastic, so I'm excited to get your review of them.
  16. Oh man, has anyone read the Umbrella Academy? It's a mini-series from Dark Horse, written by Gerard Way, the singer from My Chemical Romance (though I'm not a fan of the band, he is actually a decent writer). Anyways, there's a character from that mini called Spaceboy. And he's a human head attached to a gorilla body. And thanks to your custom, I am now motivated to try my hand at a custom of Spaceboy. (here's a pic of spaceboy http://i8.ebayimg.com/04/i/000/b9/4a/f8b7_1.JPG ) Long story short, thanks for an awesome custom!
  17. I'm pretty sure I bought both the Ult. Wolverine/Ult. Sabertooth and Ult. Cyclops/Ult. Jean Grey two packs. It was around $6 each. Of course, the store also had the Black Suit Spidey variant, but at the time I had no idea there were even variant figures for Minimates.
  18. My mom and my old roommate have both called them "Lego people." I got mad and was ready to explain the differences, but I could tell they just wouldn't get it. Oh well.
  19. Hahah, that's funny because my old screenname was Tonythetiger. Thanks for the warm welcome, all.
  20. Thanks a lot, TBT. You've been a great representative of this site so far. I really appreciate it.
  21. I picked up a number of these at SDCC 2006. I was just curious if these were rare or not. It didn't look like anyone was looking for them, but I could be wrong. Thanks a lot.
  22. Hello all. I signed up to the boards a couple weeks ago, but I've decided to start contributing to the board. I don't have a whole lot of experience on message boards in general, so please keep that in mind, haha. A brief history of my "condition" with these amazing figures. I first bought a couple of the Marvel Ultimate X-Men minimates when they first came out, but for a while after I could never find them in stores. And by a while, I mean a couple years. Then I found some of the C3 sets at a local store and picked those up. Currently, I'm back full force into Marvel 'mates. Anyways, I don't mean to bore you guys so I'll stop there, hah. Thanks everybody.
