  1. They'd be crazy to have the bald version as the chase. Bald Sisko is his iconic look from the show. That'd be like having the Picard mate have the weird diamond piping on the shoulders that they wore for the first couple seasons of TNG. It'd be a cool variant, but I don't think fans would want it as the standard version.
  2. I tried that, but his gloves are really more of a maroon color, and I couldn't quite find any ones that matched right... I dunno. I'm just really weird like that. I think I might just try to get an extra Cap from wave 12 and put his bloody Civil War shield on his wave 12 shield ring. I just wanted to look right RIGHT NOW!
  3. Just got mine today. The only thing I didn't like was Cap's shield/glove combo. His shield won't fit on his arm while he's wearing his gloves, and his hand is just regular skin colored. Does anyone know what other mate I can cannibalize a hand from that's the same color as his gloves?
  4. I just got an e-mail from AFX saying my preorder for Star Trek wave 3 had been processed and is shipping soon... over a month early! I went and checked their website, and sure enough, it says that wave 3 is in stock and ships in 2-3 days. Just a heads up for anyone who didn't get their preorders in yet and doesn't want to miss out.
  5. I agree with a DC and DC Direct boycott. My DC purchases will be on hold while I "weigh my options." Good call, guys. I will be boycotting DC Direct too, until I hear that DC minimates a definitely continuing. I think I'll also cut back on DC comics, just to be safe. Maybe just Batman and Green Lantern. On second thought, I think I'll only be getting the books that feature characters that are already in minimate form. I don't want to get too attached to the other characters and not get a minimate of them. That would just be devastating.
  6. I actually get most of my stuff online. I've gotten a few at Comic World, but they're kind of inconsistent on getting Minimates in.
  7. I just registered primarily to express my shock and dismay about losing the DC line. I think my exact reaction when I heard the news was "Huh-bada-whaaaaa?" and then my heart cracked in half. I'd been meaning to join for a while, and this is what tipped the scales. I guess I just need the support of an entire community to get through these difficult times... Anyway, on a less melodramatic note, I've been getting minimates since around last February, I think (whenever DC wave 1 came out.) And I've been hooked ever since. I collect the DC line (obvioulsy) and have all of those. I recently expanded my horizons to include Trek (those are all covered), BSG (all but the Kobol Six variant), and Marvel (I have about half of these right now. If anyone has some suggestions about how to finish filling out my collection of these, I'd love to hear them and they'd be greatly appreciated.) I'm looking forward to being a member here. Thanks, everyone.
  8. Wow. I am absolutely devastated by this news. The DC mates were the reason I started getting any of them in the first place, and now I'm trying to go back and get all of the Marvel, BSG, and Trek mates, too. I feel like DC just announced they were going to stop publishing comic books because it wasn't profitable enough for them. And not just the marginally unprofitable, cultish, semi-popular books like Aquaman or Blue Beetle, but all of them. Or maybe Major League Baseball deciding to disband because the business wasn't thriving enough. And yeah, I could always find some sort of substitute like Marvel comics or the NFL, but it just wouldn't be the same. But neither of those things would ever happen, the companies would just find a way to tweak the business model to make it more profitable and productive. Surely DC can find something, anything, to keep the DC mates going. Maybe they need to charge a little more, or do fewer waves each year, or load up the waves with mostly extremely popular characters. (Marvel's on Wave 20, so that means there's approximately 20 different versions of Spider-Man and 21 Wolverines... if we need that many Batmen and Supermen, so be it.) Whatever they have to do, I'll support it if it keeps the line going. I just know this line got me hooked on minimates, and got me to read more DC comics in general. These have been the most innovative and well-done minimates ever produced, and they have forced the other lines to step up as well. Losing these would be a real tragedy for the entire minimate community.
