    WAVE 76

Did it not go over strong? I had no idea. Poor sales?
  2. I'd welcome that. I think the last Thor box didn't sell so well, but it included a virtual dupe of Beta Ray Bill (deco var), a less popular version of Loki and a Thor that perhaps wasn't different enough from previous versions. Sif was the only real new-new character there.
  3. To be fair: Conan has a lot more name/brand recognition than most of those Indies.
  4. You might be right about that. Time will tell.
  5. ...he said, to crickets. Man, I can't be the only Conan fan, right? Barry Windsor-Smith anyone? Anyone?
  6. Box sets please!! http://www.superherohype.com/news/410319-the-conan-franchise-is-returning-to-marvel#/slide/1 This makes my recent avatar accidentally prophetic!
  7. We have our victors. In first place, Typhoid Mary. In second place, Melvin Potter, the Gladiator. And finally, our third place contestant, Nuke. By a landslide, the winning army builder was The Chaste. Everybody loves ninjas. 2nd and 3rd place were neck and neck, which was pretty cool though. Thanks for voting - Thor's up next, and first place in that poll is still very much up for grabs...
  8. I am in no way trying to steer this vote, because like some of you I want all of these, but I'll add that Ulik just screams "toy." The recent Marvel Legends figure came out great.
  9. It's time for the last individual poll of this run - The Mighty Thor! Foes and allies of the God of Thunder await your vote. Here's a quick rundown: The Warriors Three - They need no introduction, and take up three slots in this poll. Malekith - Introduced in Walt Simonson's famous run on Thor in the 80s, this evil dark elf was the featured villain in Thor: The Dark World. But don't hold that against him. ; ) Kurse - Once a dark elf named Algrim, he blamed Thor for his near death, that was actual due to Malekith's treachery. Overpowered by the Beyonder, because comics, he became a single-minded engine of destruction, whose only goal was to destroy Thor. Mangog - The sum total hatred of a "billion billion" beings of a race that had come into conflict with Asgard, he's a Kirby-riffic super powered monster. Ulik - The mighty rock troll who has been a frequent adversary of Thor. Executioner - Recently released as a movie figure. As we now have the Enchantress, we need her lifelong partner-in-crime, Skurge the Executioner, in his comic duds. Pluto - The Olympian God of the Underworld. AKA Hades. A semi-frequent big bad in the 616 who was introduced in classic Thor comics. Ymir - A giant frost god. Snow Miser to Surtur's Heat Miser (game on!). We've got Surtur, now he needs a playmate. The army builders for this round: Storm Giants - Your basic Asgardian humanoid giants. Rigellians - Aggressively colonizing alien species who first appeared in Thor. Known for the character Tana Nile, and their Recorder androids. Rock Trolls - Orange-skinned Asgardian trolls. The most famous of their species: Ulik and King Geirrodur. Frost Giants - Before they were retconned to be giant blue tribal-tattooed beasts, they appeared humanoid, like their king Utgard-Loki. Pictured here are Grundroth and a couple others.
  10. 44 votes, 6 left. Not enough for Melvin to catch Mary, and not enough for Nuke to catch Melvin. But that third place spot is still up for grabs...

Surtur looks pretty P.O.d - I would be too if my junk were on fire.
  12. With Briefing Dutch & Dillon, I can't really think of too many more P1 minis to be made... maybe: Plasma Casting Cloaked Predator and "Battle Damaged" Blain (gruesome) "Battle Damaged" Dillon (also delightfully gruesome) Thermal variants of other team members "Final Battle" Billy

That Surtur is awesome. I may need several.
  14. From the animated thread, Zach says: "I'm sure we'll do a 616 Masque at some point, and I'd certainly like a Jackal and Wasp, but we'll see." Unless he's being sneaky, that puts Masque at slightly higher odds.
  15. Unrelated: I'm still trying to find a Hawkins. He never shows up on Ebay as a single. I was able to find the others in bags at a local store, with only 2-3 dupes. I thought it would be "fun" to buy them old-school style but now I'm cranky and missing my Shane Black figure.
  16. Hmm. It's starting to sound like Madame Masque is the female and the Iron Man villain.
  17. Just found these today... minus Dillon! I guess the bro-hand thing must be a popular accessory...
  18. When assembling this poll, I contemplated taking a hard line on the 1985 cutoff for Bronze Age, but I also realized there'd be a mutiny if I didn't include Typhoid Mary and Nuke, so they're in here. No Matador though, sorry. A primer on our contestants: Angar: He can scream people into hallucinations. Had a notably creepy appearance in the MCU, in AOS. Leap-Frog: This mini could be a 3-in-1, in that the goofy Frog-Man (the original's son), and a subsequent thug in Bendis' Daredevil run also wear essentially the same costume. Typhoid Mary: Super-powered former prostitute. Gladiator (Potter): MCU exposure in the Netflix Daredevil series. A psychically unbalanced costume designer in a bruiser's body with a penchant for Roman Gladiator weaponry. Jester: A failed actor who turned to the Tinkerer to level-up with deadly gadgets. The character has reappeared in Acts of Vengeance, with another man donning the costume. Nuke: A crazed vet, he was born of one of the military's attempts to re-create a super soldier. He relies on red, white and blue pills to keep him jacked up. Appears in the MCU in Jessica Jones. Mr. Fear: The perfect foil for the Man Without Fear? Marvel's Scarecrow, essentially, complete with fear gas. There have been four Mr. Fears. Cobra: Partner in crime to Mr. Hyde, also on this list, this duo first appeared in Thor, but their more terrestrial powers were better suited for Daredevil to engage. Mr. Hyde: Before this brute became too overpowered, he and Cobra fought Daredevil quite a bit. Best not to mention his MCU appearances in AOS. Owl: Un-powered in the MCU's Daredevil Season 1, in the 616 he's a criminal mastermind & has been mutated. Also a Spider-Man villain. This round's army builders: Black Spectre (female followers of the Mandrill, wearing bulky armor to appear as men, compelled to fight against their will) Mauler Armor (famously worn by Turk once) The Chaste (heroic white ninjas, vs. the Hand's red)
  19. The only issue with this line-up is that I think (at least originally) there's only one female in the wave.
  20. The heroes are an Iron Man and two X-Men. I still like our Gambit/Rogue guess, so maybe it's someone new in Iron Man armor? Three new villains is definitely a wrinkle, albeit a welcome one. What's the classic v. contemporary costume ratio here?
  21. Wow! We got to 50 votes quite fast with this poll. And the winners showed a trend toward the novelty of un-made characters over new looks for previously made characters. Classic Mimic was our victor, edging out Lilandra by 2 votes. The oft-demanded green jumpsuit Rogue was a distant third behind these two favorites. For the Starjammers, Corsair was the clear favorite, with Hepzibah coming in second. And poor Sikorsky didn't get a single vote, but let's be real: he's tiny and should be a solid piece pack-in with a box set or two-pack, complete with a small flight stand. I can't see doing one without doing all of them. The core team could be handled as a box set (with Sikorsky pack-in), and there could be a supplemental 2-pack with Binary and a Starjammers variant of Lilandra or Professor X. A fan can dream...
  22. Yeah Changeling does have somewhat of a dubious, retconned, "excuse to bring the Professor back" claim to X-fame. But that helmet! Hoo boy. I feel like he found a giant purple gourd, and it could have gone two ways. And instead of making a wind instrument, he made a helmet and Changeling was born. Q: If you hold his helmet up to your ear, can you hear the ocean?
