  1. Thanks! Here's the Brotherhood with Magneto (Heroes Box set), requested by bobafett. I can believe you were designing a similar Banshee too, we seem to have pretty similar ideas about some customs! Here's Jean, Sunfire and Banshee with the GSXM box set. As for the back of Banshee's cape, I have to come clean and admit I haven't painted it yet, youbastards. Probably because I am having the same problems as you. Maybe if one of comes up with a solution we can help each other out.
  2. Thanks everyone. I just finished Avalanche. Thanks to bobafett for his design on the board, was a huge help. Here is my Brotherhood photographed together. Here is Banshee, who I have been working on for a while. His collar is cut from a Wolverine Patch mate and was glued to a Photon cape piece (thanks youbastards). The hair is modified from Captain Marvel. Thanks again!
  3. Thanks! The neck piece on Toad started out as a Wasp/Molecule Man "V" piece. I was using it for something else which went wrong, so I cut out the front and back V's to leave a base that I could sculp all the little squares onto. Most of what is seen is sculpted, it's just the base that already existed. It was really annoying to do, probably why he has taken me so long to finish.
  4. Thanks for the comments! Have just managed to finish Toad. I looked at lots of designs and customs on here for ideas, bobafett, youbastards amongst others. Also thanks for the Hulk hair suggestion from Binaryan. The next customs are a bit out of date, but I remember seing some Dark X-Men in process on the boards, and I wanted to make my own. Here's Emma Frost in her black costume. I know the jacket isn't comic-accurate, but I liked the fur-trimmed collar. It's from Lady Loki. Next is Dagger. I took the photo and then realised I hadn't painted her neck yet. She does have little x's on the sides of her legs too, but I couldn't get a god photo. Have got Cloak and Mimic in the works. Finally is Namor. The blue actually matches better than in the photo. I just need to draw some scales on his legs. Thanks again for looking!
  5. Thanks! I'm glad I' not the only one who found the previous Firestar a bit annoying. I will have this version displayed with my Avengers and the classic version (when finished) with either Spidey or the X-Men.
  6. I have just looked through most of your thread from the beginning, and can't believe how many of your designs have been produced, and how similar they look to the official releases! Amazing!
  7. Thanks! I hope they release a Brotherhood box one day. Until then I will have to make do with my customs. I have Pyro, Blob and Destiny now, and am working on parts for Avalanche. There was a great design for him on the boards somewhere so I will have to track it down. Just a small update today. The Firestar released in Series 11 (I think) has always really bugged me, so I'm in the process of replacing her chest decal for something more simple and giving her different hair with a mask attached. The official release always seemed to be a bit of a mash-up of different costumes she wore, so I have used her head to make an Avengers-era Firestar and her body will be used for a modified classic costume. Hope you like!
  8. Really liking the modified Wolfsbane. May have to follow your lead!
  9. Thanks again for all the comments. I am in the middle of another Marvel Girl that I may put on ebay, which would be a first for me. I was waiting on a Spectre head to finish off Darwin, and it just arrived. The chest decal is modified from Luke. I was considering painitng his head wth a wash of grey, suggestions??? Here's the Deadly Genesis team together. Thinking about making a Moira Mactaggert. Finally, here's a custom I have been working on for ages, on and off. Blob has Emil Blonsky hair (thanks Binaryan, it's perfect) and a FA Beast face and arms, with modified Duck feet. Thanks for looking!
  10. They are fantastic. Love Mirage's hair, I repainted a Valkyrie hairpiece for my own but yours is awesome. I would be really happy if an official Magma looked anything like that.
  11. Agreed, that Bride is top-notch. Love the Iron Man dio too. Great work!
  12. Aw, thanks cut2thechase. Glad they made their way to you in one piece. Was a pleasure doing business! Have completed a few more customs this week. First off is Jean in her classic Marvel Girl costume. She has a Star Trek Ilia Probe skirt and a modified classic Mandarin mask. The mask is pretty large but I kind of like how oversize it looks. I have been working on mates of the "lost" X-Men from Deadly Genesis. Although they were only a team for one mission, there's something about them I find really interesting. First up is the 3rd Summers brother, Vulcan. He has been modified from a Captain Marvel minimate and has a Black Bolt face with the eyes painted yellow. The upper chest detail is a decal from Luke. Next is Sway. She has Betty Ross hair and BSG Boomer face. Her chest is a decal. Finally is Petra. She has a Mary Jane face and hair. The mask is a decal on clear decal paper. Her skirt is from a classic Mandarin mate. Im just waiting on a head to finish Darwin, and I will have Moira McTaggart's X-Men team completed. I know some of them are quite obscure characters but that's partlywhy I wanted to make them. Thanks for all the comments/suggestions in the thread!
  13. Haven't tried twisty ties, I have heard other board members mention them so maybe I should look into them, thanks! Tenime, you're right about Destiny. That face is going to bug me. I find the spacing and proportions quite difficult on face decals. Is there a master face decal available that assists the scaling/spacing or is it usually trial and error?
  14. Thanks again for the comments! Pyro's hair is the first I sculpted from scratch, it was quite fiddly but I'm quite happy with it. Starting to get a bit more confident with sculpting, so maybe I will finally tackle Sasquatch and Warlock. Bobafett, I just tracked down your custom thread on here and found your Pyro design! I am also making a Toad at the minute so might take inspiration from your design if that's ok!? Great work. Here's Pyro from the back. His flamepack was just a simple rectangle with a bit of detailing using a toothpick and "buttons." I'm not 100% happy with it but it will do for now. The only problem is that I didn't have anything flexible for the tubes, so he has lost some articulation in the arms. After having a go at Pyro's hair, I made a Medusa. It was actually easier to work on a larger scale. I used a Magdalena hairpiece and sculpted over it. I'm still a relative beginner on face decals so I used a Gina BSG mate and painted the mask around her glasses. Here's the sculpting from the back.
  15. That looks fantastic, so much better. I'm sure a lot of people will be following suit.
  16. Thanks for putting the pics of yours on, youbastards. I did that unmasked face for you as a little extra. There's something about it that looks a little off to me though, I may have to send you another...!
  17. I have started work on some Brotherhood members, have just finished Pyro. He has a modified Ilia Probe collar piece and Magdalena gauntlets. I sculpted the hair and his flame pack on his back. I used a Yellowjacket mate for his body and kept the chest detailing. The detail on the orange is a chest decal by Luke. I made a Destiny as a comission for youbastards, and made one for myself alongside it. She has a modified Menace mask and Lego crossbow. The comission I did had a more sculpted head, but I haven't got around to doing mine yet. More to come soon hopefully!
  18. Hey... Have just managed to finish Sunspot and Wolfsbane. Sunspot has Beyonder hair. The little sunspots are made with balls of miliiput, stuck on his limbs and painted. Wolfsbane has Jigsaw hair and a sculpted tail. Here's a New Mutants group shot of the team.
  19. Wow.....they are amazing! I want one of those Blackbirds.....
  20. The shoulder piece is trimmed from a Dawn Indiemate, and then glued on. It took a few attempts but now it's pretty sturdy and she still has good articulation in the arm. The BW hair luckily leaves enough space over the shoulder for her head to move pretty freely too. I'm happy with how she turned out, with a bit of luck she came together well!
  21. Thanks to everyone who has given suggestions for heads/hair. I have some parts on their way so I can try out some different things. I have finished 2 more New Mutants. I know they aren't the most exciting of costumes, but I just really wanted a set of them. Magik: Karma (with Wasp hair: might change this when parts come through) Feedback welcomed!
  22. Nessex, Chazwinski, robomate: thanks for the tips, will look into those parts. At the minute my Karma has Wasp hair painted black, it looks ok but I'm still going to try a few other pieces out. Waiting for some parts now to round out the team. Have Wolfsbane, Magik and Sunspot in the works. Starting to think about a Warlock too, but need to get more confident in sculpting first.
  23. Thanks for the comments everyone! I was struggling a bit with Sam's hairpiece to be honest, so the advice is appreciated. I had a Transformation Venom hairpiece that I was going to use but it was my only one, I didn't have a spare. Will look into the ones suggested, thanks Binaryan. On a similar subject, does anyone have any advice or suggestions for heads/hair for Banshee, Blob, Karma and Toad? Thanks!
  24. Just heard the news about the New Mutants boxset. While I am really happy they are being made, I am in the middle of a set for myself. I was going to finish them all before posting pictures, but with the news I thought I would share what I have so far. Cypher: Dani Moonstar: Cannonball: Magma: Here's a simple 80's Rogue and a Namorita I did too. I looked at a number of the Namorita customs on here for guidance. Should have a few more New Mutants completed in the next few days. Thanks for looking!
