I'm all for obscure Marvel characters. Like Mysterio, Kraven, Aunt May, The Lizard, The Vulture, Jubilee, Toad, Sauron, The Inhumans, Excalibur, Skrulls, The Ultimates, Bucky, Cloak, Dagger, Deadpool...
On second thought, I'm beginning to think that truly obscure Marvel characters are going to have to get in line.

Why DST is dicking around exclusively in TOS Land baffles me. I REALLY wish they'd take notice of DC Direct's wildly varied character assortments and mix things up. Gimme four 2-packs from different incarnations in each wave.
Not every Trekkie likes ALL Star Trek. Some folks ain't gonna wait around for DST to finally offer 'mates based on DS9 or ENT or VOY or the films. The next assortment should look like this:
Picard & Borg Queen (First Contact)
Quark & Morn (DS9)
Chakotay & Torres (VOY)
T'Pol & Tucker (ENT)

Honestly I'll probably be happy with whatever they offer, especially if it includes characters created before 1970.
-
Ivan, if anyone from Paramount gets hold of that synopsis, I'm holding you personally responsible for whatever happens with it.

Nothing like Minimates to cheer someone up.
Minimates generally do induce happiness. Must be something in the plastic. I love huffing those cute little bastards.

Yes, I like the variety of scales. It's gotta make sense, though.
Bane (I hate him) is perceived as being huge by fans but he's really not supposed to be any taller than Batman, just a helluva lot more massive thanks to the Venom pumping though his veins. He's more like The Thing, not the Hulk. (THAT'S a character that needs a taller body.)
Robin should have gotten the slipper feet just like Penguin. As is he's as tall if not taller than his mentor thanks to that skirt piece at his waist.
For the most part DCD has been doing a fine job with scale options. A taller Darkseid is a must although Kirby originally drew him no larger than Superman. If the C3 Darkseid is the only one we get, I'll be satisfied (though I seriously doubt DCD will pass on that character).
As has been said in so many other other discussions, we need to get Marvel on board with this. I want Maximates, dammit, and the most compelling reason for AA to bother producing such a ginormous, articulated body is if it can be leveraged across both DC's and Marvel's respective universes. (Sentinels, Colossal Boy, Galactus, Elasti-Girl...)

I used to mess with my grandmother by turning every one of her refrigerator magnets upside down.
If someone wanted to mess with me, they'd spin the noggins around inside the masks. I'm that OCD.

Is there a reason why DC mates are more expensive than Marvel ones?
Because they're better than the Marvel ones.
Seriously, all I know is that I've gotten tons more accessories from DC than Marvel. I don't mind paying more to get more.

These just showed up today at my LCS for $6.99. Haven't opened mine yet but I'm looking forward to it.

Surprise surprise. Abrams is hiring a black chick to play Uhura. To be perfectly honest, I was hoping for an Asian dude.
This is looking more like a remake and less like a reimagining.

Look what I came across this morning.
I'm guessing DCD CAN offer Wildstorm Minimates without having to license it. Not true for Ex Machina although DCD has made figures based on Preacher, Tom Strong and Promethea, properties that ARE creator-owned.
There's hope!
-
First of all I don't think AA/DST has a traditional toy license to produce DC Minimates. DC Direct is simply employing AA as a design house/manufacturing partner. Since that's the case, DCD could offer figures of any characters DC holds the copyright to so long as it doesn't interfere with any other existing licensing agreements (IE - LEGO, Mattel, et al).
It's my understanding that the Wildstorm characters are creator-owned and, while published by DC, would still require a seperate license agreement to produce other merchandise under DCD.
I'd look to the DCD action figure line to what's possible. That would include Swamp Thing, The Authority, The Endless, The Preacher, characters from MAD Magazine (Alfred E. Neuman, Spy vs Spy) as well as entertainment properties like Smallville.
Personally I'd love a set based on Ex Machina.

My shop charges $6.99 across the board (more for chase sets). The owner said if he charges any more, they won't move. He's making it up in volume, though, particularly with the DC 'mates. Those things are flying off his pegs.

You know, years ago when I suggested that Minimates could become the resurrection of Mego thanks to the common body styles and variety of licensed properties, I never suspected that DST would ACTUALLY resurrect Mego.
Now I'm waiting patiently for news of PotA 'mates...
-
I like the movie mates, but I'd prefer them as boxed sets instead of actual waves...
Can't disagree with that, especially when it eliminates chase figures.
-
Fatal Attraction.
Basic Instinct.
You know. Real cautionary tales.
-
This was not easy. After reading through everyone else's lists, there are plenty more I'd be interested in and more than a few of mine would make excellent boxed sets rather than one-offs.
Adam West Batman
George Reeves Superman
Rick Deckard (Blade Runner)
Captain Jack Sparrow
Runepp the Rasiinian (Star Trek: DS9)
Selene (Underworld)
Patrick Warburton The Tick
J (Men in Black)
Ron Perlman Hellboy
Flash Gordon (Classic)
The Shadow
Disney's The Rocketeer
RoboCop
Tarzan
The Lone Ranger

I'd take Daredevil/Kingpin and Elektra/Bullseye 2-packs from the Daredevil movie. I'm all about the live-action incarnations of Marvel's characters for the most part.
-
I will not add SAW or most horror movies because I can't say that any of them seem like must see movies to me. They have their nitch, but there are very few horror movies that warrant a repeat view for me.
Even The Silence of the Lambs?
How about South Park: Bigger, Longer, and Uncut?
-
Welcome aboard, Patrick. Tell Mrs. Gambitron that size does indeed matter. If these were 6-inch figures, they'd be taking over the dining room.
-
Can't help you. My shop hasn't gotten theirs in yet (I hope). I'm on the east coast so I'm guessing I have to wait.
(Why is it DCD mamnages to release all their 'mates on the same day? What the hell...?)
-
Marvel Minimates-wise, I'm missing the frosty Ice Man and black Spider-Woman chase figures.
-
My LCS got a case of BSG2 'mates in they claim I ordered. I swear I don't remember doing so and even ordered a set from AFX since my LCS could only buy a case for me.
Long story short, if anyone's looking for these, give ComicsOnTheGreen a try. He's gonna try to move them in the store but if I can send some business his way, it's appreciated.

where is dst located, cause they said theyll ship today
Mary-Land.

And how many collectors are skipping the whole line simply because they don't like TOS? Enough to make an impression that Star Trek Minimates don't sell well? Again? It's like having the Star Wars license but only making figures based on A New Hope.
Excluding a significant portion of your consumer base by arbitrarily restricting character variety is not a good idea, especially when you're launching a new product line (or in this case re-launching it). The only reason I left out TOS in my proposal is because it's already monopolized the entire line so far.
You can't expect to please everyone with every series especially with a property as epic and a fanbase as fractured as Star Trek's, but for what it's worth, the following series should look like this:
Kirk & Kruge (STIII:TSFS)
Rand & Charlie X (TOS)
Odo & Kira (DS9)
Kneelix & Kes (VOY)
Anchor each wave with a captain or equally popular character. The top slot is movie based, the rest based on TV series. Fill those with characters that might be considered second tier. No chase figures, just occasional variants.
