That didn't work.
I guess it just doesn't like Safari.

Firefox is working fine. Must be something with Safari. I have it set to only accept cookies from sites I navigate to but I don't see why that should make a difference. I'll change it to accept ALL cookies and see if it makes a difference.

I just found a lone Union Jack and Wonder Man this afternoon. Haven't seen Minimates at TRU is a while, which is good because it means they're selling through!
-
I can imagine it does mate. Are you using any kind of cache cleaner or spyware checker?
Nope.
Has anyone considered the fact that he may not have "remember me" checked...?? ^^"That's not it. (This isn't my first time on a message board.)
I don't think there is a 'remember me' feature TTF.Actually there is such a check box depending on where you log in.
Mr PL, it could be a browser issue. I'm not getting it here but I am getting it on a football site I frequent. Every time I've visited over the weekend I've had to log in, and generally it remembers me. Doth indeed, suck.I'll try Firefox. I'd really like to stick with Safari since that's where all of my bookmarks are. Be right back...

I'm using Safari with OS X.
I'm logging in using both entry windows and neither remember me. This is the only site I'm having this problem with. It doth suck, verily.

Unfortunately, it still rests under the DC banner, which means if DC doesn't want Minimates, then there are no Minimates.
Yes, but unlike DC Minimates, Watchmen don't fall under the DC Universe umbrella. They're a separate license. DST wouldn't have to worry about stepping on Mattel's contractual toes.
Thing is, with so many characters to do from this movie, how would DST offer them? A series of 4-packs seems kinda weak. They might be able to get two solid 7-figure waves out of it, though. Would that be enough?
They could offer Dr. Manhattan in a variety of flavors, from 2-inch to 3-inch, opaque and translucent, suited and buck nekkid.
It's definitely got potential. Wish DC saw it that way. Stupid DC.

I love the 3 3/4" scale but Minimates have ruined me for Marvel figures. If I went apeshit completist on Marvel Universe like I have with Marvel Minimates, I'd need another house.
But I'm also a sucker for movie figures so I've decided to only collect the 3 3/4" figures that are based on films. So far I've got the "comic" Sabretooth that looks suspiciously like Tyler Mane's appearance in the first X-Men film. I'm putting him in with my Wookiee collection.
Essentially, if it's based on the comics, I'm sticking to Minimates. If it's from a movie, I'll go with the 3 3/4" figures. And knowing what Marvel's film roster looks like, I may only need to finance an addition to my existing house.

I have to log back in every time I visit here. It's pretty annoying. Any ideas how I can stay logged in?

My wife always laughs when she sees me on a GI Joe forum looking at threads with titles like 'Looking for Duke's crotch'.
Invariably, that's when Mom looks over your shoulder and screams in your ear.
Damned mother timing.

The movie's coming to home video April 14th. Maybe the 'mates will be out by then.
-
As long as they still hold the license, never say "never."
That's about as optimistic as I can get.

Given the selection of the last few waves, DCD was trying a little bit of everything, from brand-spanking new characters like Batwoman 2.0 and Question 2.0 to Elseworlds incarnations of Superman and Wonder Woman. They didn't shy away from offbeat choices like Ma Hunkel or Ambush Bug and played with larger and different body styles with Clayface and Salaak. Something tells me the Final 16 would make us all cry, one way or another.

Make no mistake: Indiana Jones belongs to Lucasfilm, not Paramount.
Sorry.

They look fine but I'm looking forward to the inevitable Heath Ledger Joker customs that will spawn from this.

Ignoring cynicism/realism for a sec, I think if it were to occur, it'd likely be mattycollector exclusives as opposed to mass retail, DST just seem to have trouble supplying true mass retail quantity that the big boys like Mattel and Hasbro pump out as a matter of course.
From what I can tell, DST orders units around 5,000 for the specialty market. In my experience – working with Target, for example – the quantities start at 50,000. That might be more than their factory can normally handle but I know the folks in Maryland are also juggling a few lines at a time. That said, if Mattel placed an order in the hundreds of thousands, I'm sure DST and their overseas manufacturers could justify staffing up to accommodate.
MattyCollector wouldn't be a bad idea, though. It'd keep 'mates from competing with their other product at the brick & mortar stores.

Nice! Ghost Rider fight!
Have I mentioned it's dumb they don't have bikes? Seriously, what manufacturer makes Ghost Rider's bike compatible with these figures? I wanna know because I want to give them some money.
-
It wouldn't surprise me but even good toys can come from crap movies.
Star Wars and Punisher: War Zone, for instance.
Just saying maybe the R&D DST put into the line won't be a total waste. Really need to have a bike, though.
-
So with a sequel in the works and Nick Cage on board, is there any chance we'll actually see these things?
Of course it's still pretty frakking silly without the bikes.
Note to DST: You really need to address this with Marvel and Hasbro.

Yeah, I can hear a handful of collectors saying, "Oh, it's just another Spock." You're right. Had it been a new character, people would be going apeshit.
That said, I want one, too. Hopefully if the movie does well and merchandise flies off the shelves, DST will get more interest. The obvious problem being the movie has nothing to do with the Minimates with the exception of "Old Spock" making an appearance. DST is clearly trying to leverage what they can. ("Hey, look, Toy Fair attendees! We've got an Old Spock in our Minimates line, too! Have an order form!")
I just hope the new movie generates interest in the franchise as a whole. I still want to see this guy get made.

DST's license with Universal for BSG is finite. I have no idea when it's up but there's hope in that DST doesn't just make Minimates. If the action figure and sculptural lines continue to sell well, they'll keep the line going as long as there's viable product and retailer demand. That means Minimates will remain an option for the duration.
There's also a possibility that even when the BSG license is up, one for Caprica might use language to include an option for BSG Minimates. It all depends on what DST asks for and how flexible Universal is willing to be. Given the current economic climate, I think both partners could reach a compromise that would make everyone happy.
Personally I think boxed sets are the way to go. Retailers can order exactly how many they need without having excess inventory and dusty reminders of toys that didn't move as expected. And hardcore consumers don't have to get frustrated chasing figures to complete their collections. I have no idea if that's as profitable as the cases of 2-packs but if those aren't selling, it's better than nothing, right?
-
I'm gonna need a bigger bin.
-
Good news. Star Trek Minimates are back on. Just swing by Toy Fair for a free "Unification" Spock Minimate! Thanks DST.
God DAMN.
Even when they move on to TNG they can't get away from TOS characters. No doubt this figure was part of a wave that included Scotty and decrepit McCoy from their appearances.
VARIETY, folks.
-
Obviously Godfather Minimates isn't going to be the epic line Marvel is or Star Trek could be. DST is trying to expand the line into retail venues that aren't into people in Spandex. There is some Godfather merchandise out there and the license probably doesn't command the kind of royalty rate and annual guarantee that a more "toyetic" property like Marvel does.
If nothing else, this is a nice – albeit limited – line extension. As much as I like Trek and BSG, DST can't keep all their eggs in one or two baskets.
If these do well, I'd expect to see Scarface, Sopranos, and Good Fellas sets considered.
Now where the hell are my Planet of the Apes 'mates?

Okay, show of hands: How many people would have bought an 8-inch Stay-Puft Marshmallow Man Minimate, if only for the oversized white body perfect for customizing?
