  1. It's like a rollercoaster on a full stomach: slow rises, fast plummets, and in the end always left me feeling sick and questioning the wasted time in line. "Long-live the Multiverse!!"
  2. Freakish! That is exactly the "wish-list" that I had(except the variant was a transluscent "astral form" Dr. Strange). And you're right, I'm afraid that at the moment it is a "long-shot"...damn shame. I am really hoping for a continuation of the Avengers theme for 17 (since Hawkeye and Vision got snubbed :'( ) along with characters such as: Antman, Wasp, Tigra, Ms. Marvel(Warbird), Black Knight, Yellowjacket, Ultron 5, Kang, etc. However, I unfortunately have to agree that it will more than likely be Spiderman-oriented to coincide with SM3's release (although I would personally prefer a "villan-heavy" comic wave).
  3. Now this makes alot more sense than selling these individually or in 2-packs. I originally had little interest in this line, but look forward to picking them up now. For such a small photo, they look really nice. Great accessories, and the price is reasonable. If no ring is solicited, it would be cool if the box could be converted into a ring.
  4. Damn. While these two look great, I can't help but feel like this was a missed opportunity. BOTH of these could have had plausible variants (FF She-Hulk and "ionized" purple transluscent Wonderman) if released later. I was really hoping for a "perfect classic" line-up with Hawkeye and/or Vision(granted, Vision could warrant his own "phasing" variant). Oh well, perhaps in a later(although not TOO late...like 17 please) series. I could have even better accepted Wasp/Antman(or Yellowjacket) for that matter. All of these 'mates look fantastic, but I personally could have waited a bit longer for these particular two.
  5. Let's not be hasty, "murder the WHOLE world" and you'll have to make Hawkeye yourself!!
  6. Absolutly incredible minimates! Long over-due, but well worth the wait. I was expecting more of a Scarlet Witch/Vision pairing, but this is an even more of an appropriate pairing. If not in this particular series, then my vote goes for a "men(?)-of-Wanda"pair of Vision/Wonderman for a future release(just, hopefully, not so far in the future!). My only gripe(and it really is a minor one) is that I personally would have preferred Quicksilver(in "brotherhood-green") as the variant instead of "Thunderstrike" Thor (not that there's anything wrong with him...nice fig. too); perhaps in a future "classic" X-men wave (along with Angel, Beast, Sabretooth, etc.). My money's still on Hawkeye/?(so many choices) for tomorrow's surprise.
  7. I don't really think that I had any "buying intentions" as far as these are concerned. The only effect it has had is making me painfully aware of how long the wait to get series 16 will be! Hopefully, DC will fill the void as well as new-release information for the other mini-lines.
  8. The news just gets better, and for once the Marvel line is part of the excitement(it's about time!). Thor and Loki look fantastic! And judging by AA's love of the re-hash items(Loki is a prime example), I can all but guarantee that Hawkeye(think G.A.'s bow/quiver, S.A. Flash's boots, and possibly Electra's tunic) and Vision (see: Red Tornado) will make the roster (if not now, then very soon). Also, with the addition of wings to the D.C. line, I'd expect an Angel on the horizon(maybe series 17?)too. As far as the rest of series 16? I'd rather not speculate (hopefully Scarlet Witch is one), but if Thor/Loki are any indication of direction, then I'm quite sure that this will be my favorite wave yet! I can't wait 'til Friday!!
  9. I bought one of these tables also when C3 first began hitting, but it has been in storage since the line was cancelled. I've always planned on adding the Batman and Superman chairs as well, but couldn't justify the price for just the chairs alone(the figures are worthless to me). Also, there is only space for the number of chairs provided; if two are added, then two must be removed and all of the caped (and winged in the case of an essential Hawkman or Hawkgirl) would have a difficult time sitting without removing their long rigid capes I'd imagine. Either way, I'll still hang on to it, but I'm afraid that the idea may be better than the practical use.
  10. Perhaps not "solicited", but I'd imagine that if you collected all of your extra Spideys and/or broken Nightcrawlers and put them under a "little heat", the result would be the same! Throw in some plastic-pearl beads and "Viola!", instant ComiCon exclusive. *WARNING: Playing with fire is not condoned and should never be done without the supervision of an adult, however it is alot of fun.
  11. Yeah, they're all like that. It's a little disappointing (especially on the modern cylon) when you can easily compare them with the prototype on the box. I guess it could easily be fixed with a silver paint-pen though. I'm also thinking of giving the classic's grill a light-wash of black to make it stand-out a little better.
  12. Here's a link to modeller's custom (added figures and light-box diorama) of the AMT/ERTL U.S.S. Enterprise Command Bridge model to whet your appetite. Keep in mind that the figures depicted are 2" tall and then imagine your minimates storming this beauty! http://64.233.167.104/search?q=cache:tvwsD...36&ie=UTF-8
  13. cdubya - Can you give us a comparison pic of the AMT/ERTL model? I'm thinking about ordering the command bridge model. It looked about right to fit the new 2" Trek Minimates. It would be fun to put together while I await these new Trek Minimates! (Yeah, yeah, I'm supposed to be on a Minimate free hiatus. But all this great news is pulling me back in!) And welcome back, JP! cdubya, or any one, I second JP's request. Can we get more details and/or pics of both the bridge model and the Galileo? (I thought Playmates stuff was 5"?) Sorry guys, I haven't even put the model together myself yet (in the event that this line got canned and I wanted to resell it). I do assure you though, the scale is compatible with the standard 2" mates. The figures (Kirk, Spock, and Sulu) are 2" and while their proportions are normal compared to the blockier minis, everything seems to be the right height and scale(although the chairs are a tad slender for accuracy-nards, but "hey, this is the super-D mini-verse!"). I purchased the Galileo years ago to shuttle my 3" minis, but was a bit disappointed in how large they seemed in comparison to the door(mind you, it was extremely out of scale for the 5" that it was intended for), and remember thinking how I wish that these Minimates were 2" after posing Spidey in the doorway and interior(a much better fit)...prophecy fulfilled! The enormous seats had to be removed and I have yet to find replacements, but this news has definitely rekindled my interest in doing so! I will try to take a few photos of the Galileo with some minis and perhaps a few of the bridge model pieces to give a better idea of what I'm talking about (once I remember which box in the garage/toy vault I stored these in!). Who knows, if the damn weather weren't so cold (for spray-painting), I might even manage to slap the kit together. We probably won't get these mates until next Fall, so I've got some time to prepare.
  14. I finally received my order (1 classic/ 1 modern case) from BBTS three days ago (yay!). They never sent a shipment email so, others with orders should probably be receiving theirs soon (unless you have a "pile-o-loot" awaiting completion). I like these alot, however am a tiny bit disappointed with the limited range of motion in the neck and the classic's blaster(while accurately depicted) could have used a rounded hand-grip to allow more poses and not stretch the hands out so much; just my nit-picky review. While content with my service, I think that I will be placing all future orders through Stuckakid based on other's rave reviews.
  15. About time we got something official, we've known about this "limbo-license" for quite awhile now. I've been hanging-on to a Playmates Galileo shuttle and an AMT/ERTL command bridge model (2" scale is nearly perfect for these) for just this occassion. Now if they'd just hurry up and solicit these and the Classic BSG line(and ships), I'd be even happier. The only thing that would personally "blow-me-away" more than these 2 licenses(3 if you include DC), would be an announcement for a Doctor Who line of minis (though I won't hold my breath)!
  16. Not your fault Xy, I'm accustomed to disappointment with Diamond. I did have some grand plans for using it as a Viper hanger-bay/battle scene for my modern minis...oh well. I do really wish that I had pre-ordered my Cylons from you though; I might be enjoying them now instead of waiting! Lesson learned, you've definitely got my business for the DC line and any/all future BSG releases.
  17. One each(maybe). Although I'd really like to have more modern, but I'll probably just wait till the "Raider" sets come out to bulk-up my legion. Unfortunately, I'm still waiting on my cases (come-ON BBTS!!Feb.?!) to arrive. I probably should have ordered these through my LCS or Stuckakid. Oh well, that's what I get for pre-ordering prematurely with the first site I found advertising these. I could have been enjoying these right now instead of wondering if they will ever arrive. Frak!! I pre-ordered the "mini-figure resin display" for a Modern display from Stuckakid, but my order was cancelled. I'm not having very good luck with minimates lately and I'm feeling a bit "mini-manic".
  18. Yeah, I was looking at those as well and thinking the same. Did you build that from just one set? If it is, I may just have to go back and pick one up(I believe they were $14...maybe less now). It looks pretty cool, and it's interchangable also. I stocked-up on a few clearance Fisher-Price Imaginext castle sets a few years ago(nice scale), however it takes up so much space that I will probably never use it. This would be a nice alternative and be easier to store than the cumbersome F.P. one.
  19. Yeah, I pre-ordered a set of each through them. They are pretty reliable, so I'm expecting to hear something in about a week(it takes a bit to organize and ship I'm sure) unless DST was unable to immediately fullfill all the orders. They'll show-up soon.
  20. The saddest part is that the "way over-due" Marvel list is nearly as long as the "produced" Marvel list! Thor, Hawkeye, Namor, Dr. Strange, Vision, Scarlet Witch, Black Panther, Moon Knight, Angel, Beast (classic), Sabretooth, etc., etc............................................................................. ................................................................................ . ......................................
  21. Oh, that would be TOO cool!! The parts pretty much already exist (Spectre's hood/cape, DD's billyclubs for MK and a reversed Batman cowl, Deadman's collar attached to a cape, and Green Goblin's bag for BP) and would require minimal retooling and new paint app.s. If not classic, then these should have been part of the "Marvel Knights" set. Good-Luck with that pursuit Xy; you've definitely got my (and many others I'm sure) signature for that petition!
  22. Now that would have been a great variant!
  23. Actually, in the original series, Athena is Apollo's sister (and Adama's daughter). She was also one(of many) of Starbuck's love interests. Her role was similar to Dee's(Duala) on the bridge and she eventually became a viper pilot as well. I thought it was a cool "nod" to the original series, but will probably confuse the Hell out of anyone not familiar with both series!
  24. Gut feeling & rumor mill hint at next summer... anyone want to take the Thor in 2007 bet with me? T. As much as I appreciate your optomism T., I couldn't make or take any bets on this particular line. I swear, if I see one more "X-centric" series (no offense to X-fans) or re-hashed "variations" release, I am finished(with Marvel). I personally need to see more balance and variation in this line than the previously "biased" waves have produced. Thor, Dr. Strange, Hawkeye, Vision, Scarlet Witch, Namor, Black Panther, etc., etc..... Hell, I don't mind X-Men, but how 'bout some new CHARACTERS: Quicksilver, Sabretooth, Angel, Beast(classic), etc., etc. I know, I'm "preaching-to-the-choir", but F*@K this line is frustrating! At least in the beginning there was a nice mix of characters and titles being represented and a broad horizon of unlimited possibilities, but the last year 1/2-2 years have honestly been pathetic. I realize that they are utilizing the "strike-while-the-iron's-hot" strategy with current titles and themes, but I can't help but feel totally alienated(as I'm quite sure a few others feel)by the complete and utter neglect of essential-staples of the Marvel Universe. I've gone from consistantly purchasing cases to "sets only" to skipping the last two series completly(although I do plan on at least picking-up a Nick Fury, Sentry, and maybe a few others eventually). These "Movie-waves" do nothing to re-kindle my faith or interest. Sorry to be such a "pisser", I am really excited about the DC and Galactica mates though!!
