  1. Have just seen the devastation hitting the southern states. Hope all our affected members and their families and friends are safe and well. Hang in there people.
  2. I had a tear in my eye last night. Jon Pertwee was my 1st Doctor and Sarah Jane my first assistant/companion. Bringing her back in School Reunion was a brilliant idea and to then have her back in the series 4 finale was icing on the cake. I didn't see too many episodes of SJA mainly the ones that the Doctor appeared in, but I liked that it existed. My boy is actually more scared of watching SJA than he is Doctor Who, probably because he identifies more with the younger cast. I'm gutted to think we've seen the last of her. RIP Lis Sladen. Thanks for being so flipping brilliant!
  3. The bags were up for pre-order on Amazon UK last week but then disappeared as the release date approached. That's pretty much what happened with FP too. Google Doctor Who Character Building and the only links are for the box sets or toy sites carrying images. They just ain't about yet. Hopefully that'll change after this weekend
  4. Late again. Happy Belated Birthday old Bean. All the best.
  5. Has anyone seen the blind bagged figures yet? I was in my local TRU today and they had no Character Building stuff at all. Have to agree with BHM re: The TARDIS. It's fiddly as hell to put together. The 5+ on the box is some kind of a joke. Looks okay once it's together, though of the two, I prefer the Dalek Progenitor set. The mini figures are great though. Really looking forward to getting a few more of these.
  6. It's a bit naughty that there's only a single figure included in the Progenitor set!
  7. In my enthusiasm to post I got it a little bit wrong. They're £8.99 from FP. RRP is £9.99. I still think it's a good price though. Broadly comparable to Lego sets of a similar size. I hope sell like hot cakes. Mini-figures are starting to become very popular in the mainstream. I noticed yesterday in my local ChAvSDA that the box of Halo megabloks minifigures that was on display Friday was suddenly an empty box.
  8. http://www.forbiddenplanet.co.uk/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=4_1165_7338 First sets are up for order (might be pre-order though) A Dalek Progenitor featuring Dalek Supreme and The Doctor, and a Tardis featuring The Doctor & Amy. Very reasonably priced at £8.00 each. Woop Woop! (or should that be Vworp Vworp?)
  9. Looking much nicer mate. Cheers for all the work you're putting into it. Just noticed we've lost all our superhero emoticons. Can they be reinstated at all? Feel free to mislay the dancing bunny/banana.
  10. Dude, keep writing. Don't let a perceived lack of success get to you. Keep writing. You will have to get a full time job. You will. There's no avoiding it. But you can still write in your spare time. Some of the greatest novelists being published today grafted long, and hard at day jobs and kept their dreams alive by writing in their spare time. Also don't forget that the more life experience you gain, and the more people you encounter in life, the more you will have to write about. Stick at it. Keep writing.
  11. Mate, that's bloody awful news. Must have hit you like a train. Hope we can all help pick you up a litte.
  12. Rob, you posted the thread in good faith, don't worry about how it's perceived. The events in Japan are just awful, I'm not able to watch the news but I saw on Twitter a bit that they were unable to shut down one of their nuclear power stations I don't dare to think of the consequences... My heart goes out to the survivors of this disaster. Northraider, I hope you and yours stay safe. And the same goes for all of our members around the Pacific.
  13. A mate pointed out to me the other week that HM armed forces were getting the character building treatment. This is great for me, my kid get's the soldiers and vehicles while I nick the blue hats for UNIT soldiers!
  14. Play nice boys. Mr McGowan, cease and desist with the thread necro's. Ok?
  15. In reply to Buttheadsmate... People that know me, know that I swear. I love swearing, it's great! Some people think frequent swearing shows a lack of intellect. I think those people are Smurfs! A well placed or well used swear word can light up a sentence. But there is a time and a place and I don't believe that place is here. As discussed earlier our forum now is a very different one to the beast that Ady spawned. Back in the old AA forum days there was no swearing at all. It was verboten as it was a company forum. This place was originally a little looser because it was a fan forum. But we have to recognise our responsibility to all of our members and in the case of the kids that frequent this place we as adults have a responsibility to show them what is, and what is not acceptable. If that ever changes then I'll be the first to celebrate with a few well chosen words
  16. Deadpool, when a moderator speaks to another member it is not a clarion call to all other members to come to the defence of that member. I reiterate, this is not a democracy. Please stop arguing with moderators every time a decision is made. After all this isn't the first occasion you've done so. It's probably a good idea for us all to have a look at this post from a couple of years back. http://www.minimatemultiverse.com/index.php?showtopic=5540 And remember why we're here and what this site is all about.
  17. Deadpool, you're right, it's not! It's also not punishment for any comments. It's something that's come up time and again just not in the public forum. It was funny for two weeks back in 2006. Now it's just unpleasant! The forum is very different from when it started. We have a lot of younger members now, and as a parent myself I wouldn't be happy with my son seeing that image, let alone a daughter. As has been stated on several occasions this isn't a democracy, nor is it a free for all. We expect our members to moderate themselves and generally they do, and that's part of what makes this such a great site. But, in a situation where a Moderator steps in and asks a member to desist, that member has to take notice. It isn't then open for discussion. On the SFX forum I got moderated for using a swear word in a post. That was something explicit in their rules and I forgot about it. When I got moderated I didn't start a flame war or a discussion about how fair/unfair it was that I got a virtual scolding, I just apologised and got on with things. It's the grown up thing to do.
  18. I read your PM Webhead. It was a lot less pleasant than your reply on here. Thanks for that.
  19. I'm not taking shots. Many times I have suggested to a certain user to look up, use, or ask about punctuation. All I havce asked is how to block someone so I don't have to see their posts anymore. I disagree Webhead. You've deliberately belittled another member. Not in this 'particular' thread, but you have been less than generous to another member, and It's not just the staff team that have noticed this. Please take note of what TBT! has said. It'd also be appreciated if you changed your signature image. This is, after all supposed to be an all ages forum.
  20. Ah crap! I gone done it again. I messed up the silver age Angel photos while swapping out hairpieces too. I'll get some more pics sorted and get Danny to fix it. Thanks to all for the positive criticism as well. That's always appreciated. TTF: Totally missed the powerhouse/hulk chest on Beast. Good spot sir!
  21. Some better pics including a lovely slideshow montage here http://doctorwhotoys.net/characterbuilding.htm From what the above link is saying these little guys are a go. First wave in Easter, 2nd in the Autumn. Great stuff!
  22. Army builder packs full stop! They look great too. I do think though, that £50.00 for the control room is a bit much considering the Control Room for the 6 inch figures is £40.00
  23. Not even interested in the 11 doctors set BHM?
